0:00 Mégane's Return and Golf Update

By the way, Mégane's back, it's amazing.

I need to feel it

on a track day.

I don't know if it'll get back to the ring,

but we'll see.

the question, the car's rule or ruin

everything around us this week.

Let's start it with Ben.

Hello.

For me, it'll be over all this week.

Oh, yeah.

I'm coming off the back of a

couple of ruins.

I can't remember.

It's all blended into one now.

The headlines, the Clio, still the same.

This is the new report of Ben.

The headlines at five.

Clio the same,

although I have been speaking to John at

Coronavirus Sport, and he has been giving me

some tips and advice.

I think he may be looking at the car potentially.

Have you spoken to the people at the Pio?

Not yet.

I gave you that though, right?

I'm currently in a situation of operation of fixed golf.

When golf is there and my daily is back,

I will then focus on the yellow thing outside.

Now, yeah, do it.

Which we talk about the golf because it will

have been out by now.

But the rule comes from the fact that the

golf has dampers.

I wish by now it should hopefully be fully fixed.

But it should be fixed.

The video should be out.

So if the people have watched the video and

you had a wheel come off on the way home,

this won't be great.

But to you right now, who's just done the

dampers look cool.

You're pretty happy.

Yeah, it does look good.

It looks like I'll send these guys.

It's lower.

We first put it down.

It had to settle for a minute.

And it looked the same.

And now it looks to be out in the car.

I'll back for a bit.

And it now looks cool.

No, please.

No, I was going to say I was letting you

finish because I wanted to get on to bullying you.

I wanted to interrupt you to do some brief grilling.

Because I know we've already said this in the

last podcast, but now we've had physical

evidence of what it was like.

You obviously told us nothing when I go.

I, what could I have possibly done to prevent

any of this happening?

How would they know?

How are they?

Were any of them good?

No.

How did you define

good?

Well, not leaking.

I think one or two of them, they

came back and pushed them down.

One did.

Not quick enough.

No, no, they were pretty mashed.

But I will say one thing.

And you're right.

I will say that.

That is fair.

But I will say one thing.

Can I just defend myself?

It's futile, but sure.

That car, if you look in the image here,

I knew it was probably going to be dampers at the M.O.T.

I

took the car from the M.O.T.

at a garage I hadn't used

before.

It was a legit M.O.T.

whatever.

And I asked the guy,

sorry, he test the car and said,

yeah, it's passed.

I had

one advisory at a cut in the tire.

And then he said, I said,

what are the dampers though?

It said they were misting.

And

he said, yeah, they're misting a little bit,

but they're fine.

Like it's probably not even necessary.

M.O.T.

advisory.

But I don't know.

Maybe he got it wrong.

Maybe it was a mistake.

But to me, I was like that.

When did you slip in 50 quid?

I was surprised.

Did you accidentally leave, I mean,

you are a man of noticeable wealth.

Did you leave a gold bar?

I swear on everything, that was a legit M.O.T.

I took it to a garage I'd never used before.

Only cost me a grand.

And they said it was fine.

So I was like, OK, cool.

That's why I've been told by a person on those.

It never drove that badly, to be fair.

Ben just hit us with, while you're down for his mistake.

Well, cast your minds back to the summer of 2007.

Let me tell you about someone else.

I was told, but I was told by that driver driver.

Yeah, driver.

I was told by that mechanic that they thought

it was OK.

Obviously they were wrong.

Fine.

I admit that.

But that's why I was basing it on the fact

that dampers were fine.

But then did you think we were wrong when we

were saying about them?

No, because I was just the same as we started

last podcast.

So, but OK, but it's a rule.

It's a rule for now.

Should.

Well, you've got you have bigger jobs yet to do.

So that's the only thing we've done in the

last two days.

Damn play.

It was a day.

And a bit.

It was a day.

It was a day.

We also how long did the ordeal take to

tighten the wheel nuts to the sorry,

the bulk like 10 minutes.

Right.

So we over a day.

I'd say down.

I'd say down.

We had a bit on camera where these guys like

it's been like a day and a half.

And we started about four PM yesterday.

I actually said it's been over a day.

Yeah.

And it hadn't been.

Oh, to a minute.

Yeah, you're wrong.

You're wrong.

But you're wrong.

It did end up taking over a day.

Yeah, but it is also quite a big job.

Anyway, four dampers.

Let's be a set drive shafts out of stuff anyway.

And we're not mechanics, especially me.

So that's now sorted down as a sorted.

Lowering springs are sorted.

Looks really cool.

I need to get a line tomorrow morning.

I have a full four wheel alignment done.

Then I've got a full stack of new tires over here.

Then hopefully that's all sorted.

And then we'll go to engine things,

which is the specialist is doing next week.

So there's a foot.

I still have to pay them.

But if we think positive money.

5:00 Rule or Ruin: Mégane Returns

But yes, we think positivity,

you will exude it.

Well, hopefully by in a week's time,

I should be thumbs up.

Well, and then I have to do the clear,

we have to be a thumbs down.

Thumbs up.

Lovely.

Lovely.

How about you guys speak now?

How about you guys speak now?

Ben wants to desperately get off the goal subject.

Well, what is it?

I'll go with the rule because the McGahn has returned.

Then the McGahn has returned off.

I think I said in the last two that it's been

on its way back.

Well, I was just going to say quickly,

I didn't know the McGahn was coming back.

And I was on my journey on the way to work.

And towards the end, our journey's kind of collide.

And I had my window down.

I just heard a junction.

I went, wait, that sounds like Will's McGahn.

There's Will's McGahn off her head.

It's very strange.

I forgot how fantastic that is.

It may not be feasible for that car to stick around.

I don't think I can quite stomach the M3,

mainly the Mercilago from it.

The Mercilago, the M3, and then the McGahn on the side.

is basically there or there are pouts done now.

The brakes are fantastic now.

The suspension is now fun.

There's a load of changes that you'll see in

an upcoming second channel video.

You've done that thing.

You've fixed the car finally and finally made

it good and gone.

Right then.

Time to go.

Time to sell it.

I need to figure out what I'm going to do with that.

Obviously, the M3 is like the new thing.

I did think I was like, if the McGahn comes

back and Will I drive that and go,

the M3 is here, but I drove it and I was

like, this is great.

Would you consider even raffling it,

maybe?

Possibly.

That's what I am because obviously we know

that if we try to sell cars,

we get- Oh man, I will be right.

I'm going to be honest.

I sold my mates 200 the other day.

I put it in a load of different groups.

Now, it's a bit annoying, but fine.

People commenting in the actual,

in the thread, say, "Hey, I'm a Creamer.

Not helpful for selling the car,

but look, hey, as we said before,

it comes to the territory."

Yeah.

But DMing it on eBay, sending messages on

eBay and sending marketplace messages,

actually not helpful, please.

I actually don't do that.

But, otherwise, fair game.

Yeah, exactly.

But yeah, that might be the route that that

car goes down, because it would be cool to

see that go to someone who listens or watches

to the channel, but it is so- I want to get

at least a track there in the UK out of it.

See, it's done the ring.

I think, although it did break down,

well, it didn't actually break down.

It broke at the ring, but it did do very successfully.

4 ring maps.

Can I change the vivata, thevernacular of it?

You broke it at the ring.

I broke it at the ring.

The car was good.

I did launch a few rolls on a back road,

and broke a seat for the boot.

So, you know, I can't actually give it too

much stick for that.

But it's back now, so loads of new bits.

The cage is in, it now has harnesses.

I did get it in.

I thought, have I gone too far?

You have made this for me.

And a man put some carbon door cards up sell

over the weekend.

And very fortunately, he won't post them,

and he's in Yorkshire.

I was like,

otherwise they'd be on that car.

I can't explain it in the most complicated of

terms, but

they take into trying to balance the weight

of the car

basically.

So getting the heights just right so that the

weight is evenly distributed throughout the car.

So you've not got too much weight over the

front or the rear or just one on one corner.

So use the weights at each corner to do that.

But you also take into account the weight of

the driver as well.

So they take your weight and they say,

okay, so that weight is in

the passenger seat.

If that weight is in the driver seat,

which is mostly going to be the case when

you're on a track

pay on your own, then they can distribute the

weight nice

and evenly.

So Ben, you do that with GTD,

right?

Form over function?

Well, function over form is when you care

about what it does more than it looks that way.

Yeah, sure.

But it still looks amazing.

So you had to give me your weight.

I keep looking at it and I think it could do

the space on the front.

If I've got a space on the front,

it will rub again.

Meanwhile, the Eton inside of the arch.

So the arch line is there's a couple of like

little tidy up bits, a clean,

I might need to sort out some new front tires.

But other than that, it needs to do a track day.

And then maybe, maybe go.

How did you calculate the weight?

Did you go for a turn?

myself?

A turd first or did you go?

It's a good point.

Because like people when they're doing like

gym stuff, they might, you know,

get up in the morning, have a poo and then

they're they're they're lightest.

But do you want to be like how you'd be off a lunch?

But he's here's my question to you.

Yeah.

Every time you go out on the track,

I love going on a track.

Being on a track is one of the one like one

of the times that I feel a bit nervous and I

will go for a poo before then.

Like I mean, that's most things.

No, yeah, that's true.

But think when we went to when we went to

Brantatch, yeah, got pop off.

He did.

He did, yeah, for a while.

Yeah.

He's the ML, so we would mean we would just do that.

Drop off the kids at the pole.

Exactly.

So in theory, you'd have to do it before,

but just in case you have to go for a nervous

one before you go on track.

So you want to be a lightest in theory?

Yeah.

I thought I just gave him a rough figure,

if I'm honest.

I didn't think too deeply about it.

Did you weigh yourself before?

Did you step away?

I just gave him my last known.

Did you weigh yourself naked?

That's a great point.

You were a helmet as well.

That's a good point.

So did you send to finish all the way I would

have given him would not be a fully laden?

Yeah, because you have to say to him,

here's my weight, bracket's naked.

Here's me clothed and full of shit.

You should need, I think it's,

you have breakfast.

So you've got some food in you.

Yeah.

Maybe you can go for a small turd,

but not a big one.

Like a nervous one, which is never a full one.

Yeah, like a little one.

Just why not?

And then I think you should wear,

yeah, a helmet on us.

Like I think if you dress, I think dressing

helmets, like a dressing a smart,

a nice kind of winter smart casual would

probably be equivalent to a,

how you dress at a track with a helmet.

October day?

Like an October helmet.

Like you've probably got a shirt and a,

maybe a hoodie and a jacket on top.

So you've got that couple of layers to

simulate the helmet.

No, I don't think you've any of this.

But you need to, but it's important to use

this complicated stuff.

So in theory, you could be like...

Turns out corner waiting much more

complicated than I thought.

You could be one or two kilos out.

Of course.

And that's why a lot of weight.

Which in Formula One, huge.

Like if you're pulling, it's a difference

between like first and ninth or something.

I don't know.

Turns out that's what Max for Staffan's just been doing.

He's, they've been weighing him every minute.

If you're pulling 10 G, what's that?

Is your big difference?

Is your beard that big?

Is it a bit long?

Yeah.

Nose hairs.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Go for a quick haircut before.

Jung rings you up.

Come back.

We've got to reset that shave chest.

Have you got off sort of one back and sides

or have you let it grow out?

Okay, right.

I'll just read this to beat that weight then,

shall I?

You've ruined it.

What about like, do you, do you,

do you, you got corner waiting in the car?

What about your body too?

Like, 'cause what if you sit a bit more inbound?

That was kind of changed the way,

isn't it?

Whereas if you sit more sort of...

What about fuel window?

Fuel is a good point too.

'Cause the car's different fuel.

That's a good point.

It gets through fuel.

I love you.

These are all questions for John,

for John.

All I can tell you is it's amazing.

I think most people are going on track.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that a lot of

cars have stuff in them.

But not many people I know go,

right, I've got Silverstone at five,

and then just for four

seconds, I need to nip off to Heathrow.

So, Chuck, for the luggage in the back,

we'll get the kids in there too.

We're head off.

That's how accurate do you want to be?

It's my pleasure.

I'd say semi-accurate.

How much do you break that way?

I don't think it's quite as black and white as this.

I don't know if it'll get back to the ring,

but we'll see.

M3's good.

It's got a couple of small issues that need

to

be buttoned up.

That would be also a professional video.

I'm

feeling still sad about my Shiloga.

I realized over the

weekend, I thought I'll be fine with it.

I know I said this

before.

I'll be fine with it.

It's coming up to winter, like late or autumn,

whatever.

I'll be cool with it.

But then it's the last few weekends,

weather.

So I've been looking at it thinking,

and I wish I

could have just taken it for a drive this

morning or taken

it out somewhere.

Yeah,

you had it and now you've sold it,

now you've got the

M3 stuff.

14:30 Abusive Relationship with a Car

Is this a healthy relationship?

It breaks and you go, "Oh God,

thank God, I was getting retarded."

It abuses me, abandons me, and I go,

"I just want him back."

It just makes the heart grow fondant.

That ends, that's lovely, yeah.

That is

why you live in Bristol.

God, if you could go a bit further,

it would be fantastic.

Ever considered Scotland?

So, you control him from Edinburgh,

but he holds the camera here.

Joe, you just speak for it.

But then you'd abuse it and I feel bad for it.

Absolutely, God.

I would be like, "Shit, can you grab that

from that cupboard and then just lock you in there?"

Or you'd like just kick it over constantly

and make it just watch yourself get it back up.

It's a waterboarder.

It's a robot.

It doesn't matter.

I think it's you.

And you love it.

But it's fine because I'm cozy in my little

old-fashioned cottage.

In your little Scottish Gothic.

Yeah.

Your robot's going, "Well, that's great."

Ben, please.

Oh, are you?

I am.

I'm rule.

The Clio is

working.

That's three rules.

Two rules.

Is that another?

Is that three in a row?

No, I think we had a row.

No, I had a row.

I'm rule.

Yeah, I'm rule.

There's no reason to ruin.

And we have literally just before this

podcast put the alpha next door to start

working on that to get the ear box back in.

So I'm excited for that.

I talked, I want to say a few weeks ago,

there was a second, I hinted at it.

There being another 550 instead of Jezre in France.

That one's fallen through too.

That's great.

That's apparently the owner.

It was in needed to work and there was a

chance he only wanted to sell it without

doing the work.

I said, let me know because this could be

interesting for me.

There's, they decided to put the work in.

So I can't buy that one.

But then there's another one.

I've had another one.

So look, it's all early days.

You'll hear when it happens,

but there's, I'm excited.

I feel hopeful is what I'll say.

It feels like they're more, it felt for a

while, but they would know it.

options.

There was that one and it was a bit loose.

But now options are appearing.

There's some options coming out the wood.

Yeah.

What?

What?

Woodwork.

That's the one.

So yeah, I think rule for me.

Overall, there are things things moving.

What should we start with?

I think it'll be from you, Benjamin.

Yeah.

And let's see if you remember it.

Yeah.

You've written here Auto Gearbox Park.

I want to have a conversation.

Sounds like the water park ever.

I want to understand something.

Could you describe to me what also Gearbox

Park looks like?

Is this?

Now, what car have you been driving?

The ML.

Okay.

So it's to do with this.

Right.

I want to understand some of the things.

I don't understand that.

Anyway, it is aimed at you.

Why is it that people don't use the handbrake

in automatic cars?

Because there's no need to.

I'm just going to say it.

There is no need to.

The chances of it happening.

It annoys me more.

Right.

The amount that it annoys you that I don't

put in car.

No.

It annoys me far more.

Do I have to get in this ML?

And it goes, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh,

because the stupid parking brake is on more.

Edwin doesn't put the handbrake on any car.

And he does it in my car.

And it's a few things that I'm fearing as

much gain as my car.

I fit it and rock backwards and forwards on the pin.

And that's my gearbox.

I have a fantastic story.

Just sit it up, tell him, sit it up.

I've only just learned, I can tell,

I'll tell it in a moment.

But I half agree with both of you.

I, from Edwin's point of view,

I understand it's likely that it will never

have an issue.

Obviously it's a pin, right?

So there is a possibility you could break that.

That's a lot of force going through a pin.

But I don't, something in me doesn't like it

just rocking forward as a part pin,

so I will use the handbrake.

If we are on level ground, I will not use it.

If I'm in a manual, I will always use the handbrake.

Yeah, of course, but I'm saying,

I don't understand why, if you have a

handbrake, you wouldn't use it.

Because I don't need it.

Do you think you're cool?

No, I don't need it.

You do though.

No, I don't.

But surely it's putting unnecessary wear on your gearbox.

What are you talking about?

Of course, that's a little pin.

If the car is stopped and we are on level

ground, when I put it in park,

the pin goes in.

But it's not level ground.

What are you talking about?

I've never seen you put it in.

Do you live on the hill, the Clifton Hill?

No, I put ice so strongly.

You should always use the handbrake.

So out here in the car park,

we have an unlevel ground, do we?

No, but it's like when you get out and you

see the car rock back and forth on a pin.

So let's put in stress first.

Are you getting out and pushing the car with your hand?

But it does, it rocks back and forth.

It absolutely does not.

That ML is over two tons, right?

Okay.

Even if it's a tiny little gradient,

it's going to come back and forth.

Here's something for you, stop turning the

car off and getting out while it's moving.

If you come to a stop, it will not rock back and forth.

No, I disagree.

It will always rock back and forth a little bit.

At least enough to put pressure on it.

Two tons being put on it.

But in that case, why are you using your handbrake?

It's putting pressure on those pads back there.

Because you shouldn't do that.

That's cheaper than a gearbox though.

And it's what it's there for.

It's to hold the car.

It's a gearbox in that whole car.

But it wouldn't break the gearbox.

It would break the pin.

But then what you've got to do to replace the pin.

Well, you have to do to replace the handbrake.

You have to get into the shoes on the rear.

Yeah, exactly, which is a much cheaper and

easier job for someone that's designed to do that.

It's just long.

I would say I'm with Ben on that.

It's long.

It's long and I can't be bothered.

It's built on braces, but I think in a good way.

I drove the ML home last night because the

Golf didn't have any dampers in it.

So I got back his day, parked him up and then

Edwin got in and drove it to lunch and

visibly went, "Oh, why is it?"

And then pulled the handbrake up and went.

But surely you would have, it's a foot brake

on that one.

Yes, that's why I like modern,

I know people will moan about electronic

handbrakes, but it's great because they

automatically go on, or when you do put it

on, when you pull away, they turn off automatically.

I'm fine with that.

An automatic one, fine.

You somehow bypass it in my Golf though,

which only happens if you turn the car off,

then you get out.

If you open the door and it's on,

it will always put the handbrake on.

That's stupid.

Why am I opening the door with the cars on?

I get to where I go, I turn the car off and I

leave the car.

While I'm rolling into the place where I'm

arriving, I go, "Hello guys,

and open the door."

It's like here, if we pass a certain time,

the gate, you have to put the actual proper code in.

So when we leave for the podcast,

I have to get out of the car,

and if I open the door, quickly jump out the

car, it'll put the handbrake on.

So here's my question to you,

you go to leave our gate, you have to get out

in the ML.

Do you put the handbrake on there to get out?

If I stop in the car, I'll put the handbrake on,

yeah.

That's mental, 'cause you're sitting on the pin.

That's so stupid.

I think people agree with me.

So you get, hold on, to get out the car for

10 seconds, you will put the handbrake on.

Well yeah, because it's not like,

the car doesn't go right, I'm gonna hit zero

gravity for 10 seconds and I'm not gonna,

it's still putting pressure on there.

Do you think, what sort of hills do you think

we exist on?

What sort of planes of existence do you--

I still think if there's any level of

gradient, you're still gonna put your

pressure on the pin.

But that's fine.

Why would you not?

That's what baffles me.

I have explained why I wouldn't.

But if you've got long, how's it long?

It's one movement.

It's two movements, one is put on,

and one's take it off.

The argument in the section is returned.

No, but I don't understand it.

21:00 Handbrake Debate in Automatic Cars

It baffles me, why would you not,

if you have been given the thing to use it for you?

I have just explained it.

It's not long.

It is.

You have to put it on, and you have to take it off.

Oh God.

That does sound tough, yeah.

But that's my argument.

No, I disagree.

Would you like a hell-related handbrake story?

Yeah, go on.

I only just found out this weekend that I

should be able to tell this story,

'cause everything's clear.

Oh God, this is amazing.

So, for those of you who have obviously,

on the podcast, have listened for a while,

you may know of my granddad,

an interesting fellow, to say the least.

So, he was in the Merci Largo video very

briefly, and whatever else.

And he is into his cars as well,

and he's quite into very cheap,

shonky jaguars, which is nice.

Which is where the story of,

what's his name?

Jenny the Jag.

Jenny the Jag, that's where that comes from.

Yeah.

'Cause he bought it.

Yeah.

He bought that exact car.

Horrible.

Don't know when that is either.

So, he lives in a quite a hilly area,

in his driveway, horrible, incline or

decline, when everyone would call it.

I would hate it, it would put me on anxiety

stations all day long.

One where I would use the handbrake.

So, I got sent a photo one day of,

so you have like, there's like a driveway,

and then the road is flat, and then the

houses opposite are lower, 'cause it's

obviously on a hill.

So, the people opposite, their driveway goes down.

Your driveway goes up, theirs goes down.

So, you can imagine where this might be going.

Here's Jaguar, cheap Jaguar,

XK something, one of the early 2000s,

late '90s ones, on the driveway,

and then all of a sudden, it's not on the driveway.

It's just there, static, normal,

and then it just flies down the driveway,

across the road, into the house,

across the street.

And who's in the passenger seat?

My granddad.

So, the car just flies across the street,

and I still don't know what went wrong with it.

And my first thought was, 'cause I was like,

parking pins don't break, but I thought,

that has to be the parking pin.

Where else would that be?

There are lots of people where their parking

pin has just given up.

Well, surely, if you're on that much of a

decline or incline whatever,

and you're constantly having to put it on

park, and it rocks back down onto it,

over and over again, that must do something.

I still don't know what the problem was,

but his name is not Happy Atoll.

Really not Happy Atoll.

Well, the car found itself inside her house.

Yeah, yeah, so it went through the kitchen.

No, I didn't fully destroy the house,

but they did.

The Jaguar's part of the foundation at one

point, led to move out.

It couldn't move for about a month.

But to special people, I don't know what you

call it, people who know houses or whatever.

It's a bit like that.

Builders, to be like, "Is this safe to remove it?"

And then Tom Lenthor came round and went,

"I think Rocket Coverbook gaskets need doing."

And then, dude, both specialists came round.

If you remove that car from that house,

the Rocket Cover is going to leave.

We're going to need to do the boot lid on its crash.

So they had to assess whether the car could

actually be removed, and then they couldn't

actually get to their front door,

and it was all a bit of a fall,

and there was lots of evil stuff.

There's a couple of chairs from across the road.

I don't think they were the best of friends

in the first place, but when you send a jag,

like a homing missile through the front door.

So that was it.

I'll see if I can get a footage of it.

This should be, if it's allowed.

We talked about that.

Could be a parking pin, you know,

beware, or, yeah, perhaps it's his fault,

likely.

My first, when you told me that story,

this is a while ago, I laughed,

checked that he was okay, and then carried on

laughing, He's genuinely amazing.

He sent it to a family group chat,

and there was no major concern.

But also, that's kind of par for the course,

pretty much.

That's the type of thing he'd just do.

He was out trying to buy a £4,800,

£5 litre XK

at the weekend.

So that's his vibe.

He's worse than us by a

noticeable mile.

And speaking of that car, before he wins,

go and see it, I said to him,

"You should probably run a check."

I said to him, "Have you run a check?"

And he said, "No, I haven't."

Obviously.

The thing is, I was going to say,

his car buying is kind of anti-car vertical,

because even

if it does come up with damage,

he'll buy it.

with

M3,

26:30 Motorway Moped Incident

Coming up the back of me at speed.

I was going bare mind 70 miles an hour in this scenario.

So, and he overtook me at some serious pace.

I'm talking, this was a, imagine a delivery

driver, Moped, that same sound,

everything.

He was going, and just sent it past me at speed.

I looked over and

he was crouched down, like trying to make

himself a, hey, I'm

pretty sure.

I'm pretty sure that limit is like 28 miles

an hour or something.

So I don't know what he's got in that thing.

He's trying for a top speed.

I'll have a 100% shot.

I'm going to guess.

Was he an actual delivery driver?

Was it just that snow?

No, it was just a Moped, but it was like,

was it a youth?

No, it was just a dude.

I'll be honest, when you, when you put this

in the chat, I thought, wow,

has there been some sort of record?

Like, I thought, I was quite looking forward

to hearing about an actual record.

No, he was attempting one.

I've just checked the fastest factory Maxi

Scooter, which is, which is a Honda ADV 750

and a Yamaha T-Max.

I've heard of T-Max because when I lived in

London, Jake and I, who lived in London,

there was a Moped stolen from our street

maybe once a night, and it was all with a

T-Max, and that's what they knick all the time.

He's 110 to 150 miles an hour.

Wow, on a Moped.

That's horrible.

But he was going, I'm going to say,

I reckon he was hitting at least 90.

He might have got- I can understand it.

But where was it?

Sorry?

On a dual-carriage, right?

On the M4.

He started on the M4.

He sure was a Moped.

Yes, 100% sure.

Is it a Moped?

I don't know if it was a bigger engine and

bodied in the Moped.

Or was it shaped like a Moped?

Moped?

That's crazy.

I wonder if he's like a T-Max or something.

He was going at Mac Piss.

Because Moped you can have younger than cars.

Yeah, you can have them as old as you want.

I remember when my mate had one.

I was kind of jealous because he had a

motorized thing before I did.

But he modified it.

He like removed the limiter and made it.

And he had like 80 out of it,

which I shouldn't say.

He had 80 out of it.

On a runway.

And I was like, that's mental.

He's still like 180, but it was definitely

more than, I think they lit,

what, is it, 50 and limited to?

I thought it was 28.

He's

got the license and he said,

put me on the phone, boys.

Don't worry about going from the fish and

ship shop down the road half mile.

He's going, right, you're in Bristol

and you need a state from London.

Put me in.

I mean, I believe that, I'm just,

you know, quite excited.

What was you wearing?

I didn't really see.

Because was he wearing motorcycle leather?

Yeah, yeah, he was wearing, yeah,

he was wearing, yeah, from memory.

I don't know what's funny.

Wearing full motorcycle leather is on a moped.

Or he's

like, you know, you see just a moped rider

and they've got that huge thick jacket and

the mitts on.

Yeah, he got those on.

No, he was, I think I'm pretty sure he was,

he was leather up, but he was on,

it was a moped.

He was going so quickly and I was in shock.

But yeah, he, yeah, he, I reckon 90.

That is amazing.

Yeah, Jason down.

No, I couldn't say that he's unsafe.

I was on a 500 horsepower ML.

I couldn't, I wouldn't be able to catch him.

I wouldn't even try.

I think you would have.

No, you would have quite liked it.

But if, if Mopeds were that quick,

could you draw, would you ride on?

I'd be well, no, less likely to drive it in

that situation.

There's a load of, I think is it,

it's in one of the Malaysian countries.

There's a, there's like a whole,

thing with modifying Mopeds to be as quick as possible.

And some of them sound cool.

But when they launch, they do like a mega lean forward.

So that doesn't really, but they,

they take off quick.

They do the same thing in France.

That's, I'm, I'm on board with that.

The, a fast scooter.

Yeah.

I don't, when I used to go to North wheel,

when they used to have drag racing on,

they used to be a few, they used to be like

a, I used to hate it because they would do

all the cars.

And obviously, they wouldn't race cars against bikes.

Then you'd be able to do bikes and go,

all right.

Cause they're fast and I don't care.

But there would be a few scooters there.

There would be like a crew of scooter people

and some of them had like the,

whether the wheels, further back,

whatever.

Yeah, yeah, stretched like the swing or swing

or arm, whatever it was.

Anyway, and they were quick off the line.

They were quick anyway.

And they sounded like a hairdryer.

We, I don't know that we, we didn't get them as much.

There was a thing, uh, mainly in America,

they had a thing called a Honda Ruckus and

they were, they, they looked,

when you modified them, they looked cool.

Like you'd stretch them out and have them,

I'll put photo up, but like the one time I

looked at a two-wheel thing and gone,

it's kind of cool.

I'm so scared, because to me,

right, a moped, you have, you have obviously

a seat, you sit on your legs directly in

front of you like a chair, that feels less secure.

At least on like an actual motorbike,

you got that, you got the thing in between your legs.

So Ben, that is a, that's a moped,

you're looking at that.

Yeah, that's, that bad, that's just silly.

But it's got a motorbike.

Yeah, fine, but it's not, it's not.

It's the size of a moped.

But I don't like the thing where you put your

feet down flat on the floor that I like it,

the fact you like sort of sit like horse.

Would you not feel a bit more planted like that?

No, you feel better on a horse,

'cause you can sort of like lean across and

like grab on, whereas on that,

it's like, I'm, it's just a chair going nine

miles an hour.

It's a bit more throwny that.

Right.

I think I'd prefer that.

Would you?

I think you're a chopper man.

I think, I think you're--

All right, and what about the bike?

I think your hands way up high.

All the way up there.

And it has, for some reason,

three wheels.

Yeah, I'd love to put Ben in chopper culture,

one chopper for another.

I don't think we can't have that.

Do you want to lend you our chopper?

Just making, but making you experience random

car and bike cultures, I think you just,

wouldn't understand.

No, I would also love to see Ben at a toga in Japan.

Just scared.

Yeah, you would be quite scared with that.

Would I?

Yeah, a little bit of street racing for you

as well, that would be pretty rough.

Sure.

Take you to a takeover.

Oh, that would be good.

Oh my God.

Ben, I get hit.

I get hit.

I get hit.

You'd love the C6 Corvette, but you'd hate

everything else around.

You're just gonna see me stood there like,

like, I'd be going, wow, this is amazing.

Look behind me and a charger will just take a

whip into me and just send me flying car into section.

You do, but you're also one of those

embarrassing ones

But you're so bendy, you bounce off like a

stretch on a strong.

Yeah, he just volds around it.

Fantastic fall, man.

I don't wanna be part of that.

It's a last thing I offer.

The Incredibles.

That's Ben.

What have we got next?

We've got Makara News.

I think last week or the week before,

in the recent weeks, we mentioned that

McLaren are creating jobs while JLR are cutting them.

And now, we've got some jobs going,

and they have some news, they've had a

rebrand, have they not Benjamin?

They have had a rebrand, would you learn

about just this morning?

We did, we did.

I think it's got, okay, so there's nothing

wrong with it.

I haven't seen it.

I haven't seen it, but it's their logo,

right?

It's essentially that the, I think it's

inspired by Bruce McLaren's workshop,

like its old style.

Yeah, but one thing I wish they would do

though, I wish they would integrate the Kiwi more.

I can't get a big photo up, but for those

viewers, we've got the normal,

the thing is though, I can't say this,

the original McLaren, think of the word

McLaren, stylized, that's like SLR,

that's recognizable, that's iconic at this point.

It does look a lot like an investment bank,

or something you'd see on Canary Wharf.

I don't like the fact that they've got,

what is that little thing called on the top right?

That's the Kiwi, that's the swish.

That's a Kiwi?

I think that's what it's supposed to be.

Is it?

Oh, I see it, I can see it now.

All the Kiwi was always painted on the race cars.

The little orange swish you always see.

It's called the Speedmark.

The Speedmark.

Now I'm seeing the new McLaren typeface with

the Speedmark,

and then racing it, it does look a bit weird.

I like it

when it's just the words, it feels retro.

I thought it was really cool on that new one

they've released in--

'Cause I like the Kiwi, it's cool.

Back in the day there was this,

this guy in the middle who's like a little

Kiwi-leaning sort of thing, which is kind of cool.

Well, I like it.

But so am I right in saying this is,

on both of these McLaren new ones,

it says McLaren Racing, is that only the racing reason?

It can't.

But you were saying it's both,

right?

It's all of it, it's all of it.

In the video it goes like that racing bit

switches from racing to all kinds.

Can't, that's right.

Although actually that little swish,

now you look at it, if you compare them again.

Okay.

Oh, here we go.

Hang off the second swish one.

No, no, no, no, no, no, the new swish doesn't

look more like a kiwi than the other one.

Yeah, it's a little bit thinner.

I see what you mean.

It's thinner, it's more like look the same.

Yeah.

Just one smaller.

Either way, kind of interesting.

Also, why is it, why is everyone changing my approach?

I like that the McLaren one is,

I don't know, maybe it's not the most,

it's not like Ferrari or Lamborghini or

something, but it, I like the M in McLaren.

That M is like, I think of a McLaren F1 immediately.

Yeah.

But maybe they don't care, not that they

don't care, but it's, perhaps not the vibe,

it's just a little refresh.

I like that they haven't gone jag style,

I mean.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, but it's about the, you know,

it's about how one it makes you think and fail.

They've just gone, "Hey, we've changed our logo."

I like a crest.

I like a crest.

I like a crest.

I like that Kiwi style crest or the Ferrari

prancing horse.

That's all the sandwich.

But I like those crests have on the front,

it's cool.

Greed.

It's when you don't always create from the

path too much.

You think of like a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

They probably have.

Langes, Ferrari, actually, I can't really

think of anything major, major,

major, major.

But Lamborghini have definitely had a few

mine at Lamborghini.

They got the crest.

The script was different.

But yeah, the actual logo itself has been

roughly the same.

I will, I'll just say, I'm just pulling up,

Will, if you could explain for all your

viewers, I've got the Ferrari badge changes

over the years.

But the actual, the Coverlino itself,

which I

think is called, is worth the same.

It's the same.

It's

a slightly different rectangular box.

It's a little bit curved.

Also, we're talking a hundred years.

And they just went, "Leave it a same."

Also, imagine getting the call from them as a

graphic designer to, "Can you redesign it?"

They go, "Oh yeah, okay, call half a million."

And then they go, "I'm just gonna make it

basically make the horse slightly small."

And they hit a bit shinier.

But also, suggesting them a hundred different

versions of really different ones.

And I'm going, "Allore, we don't like."

I just go, "How about this?"

And it's the same, and they go,

"Yay."

Oh, we give you double, the bonus on that one.

We'll give you a million for that.

But that's why I like that.

Also, I like the actual, the Ferrari with the

long ass F.

Yeah, that's the best.

Fantastic.

That's fantastic.

I would like--

That might be the most iconic.

On the McLaren--

Hand that wee dozy.

We don't, we don't be calling a new McLaren's

to have the new McLaren typeface thing on the

back and on the front have a little crest.

What's he called?

It's a bit, it's a bit Italian crest stuff.

But yeah, but it doesn't matter.

I guess Lotus does know a crest.

I'm thinking like Bentley Rolls Royce,

they don't really have--

Oh, Bentley's got a crest.

It's not, I wouldn't call it a crest though.

I wouldn't call it a crest though.

I would call it the wind crest.

Is that what you call it?

I'd call it a wind crest.

A crest.

Who made that?

It sounds like a bird.

Also, Rolls Royce had a crest,

famously.

Well, it's not, the two are,

I guess, crest.

Yeah, when you look at that,

it's more like the sort of oblong E Ferrari one.

Bring back the crest.

All right, I'll take back what I said.

The M6,

was it M6 GT?

I think that does have a writing has like the

word on the back of it somewhere.

Let me just, let me, yeah, it says--

But they do use the interesting--

The speed dingle, so the front.

So now, MCL6 GT, right?

one that was unveiled Monterey.

I think I still really quite like it.

We have on the front, the speed crest,

whatever I call it.

Egg and crest sandwich in the front.

But the back says MCL with that new logo,

MCL, and then CCT.

I don't know.

That, to me, feels a little bit,

I was

gonna say, yeah, Chinese.

B.Y.D.

That is B.Y.D.

That is coming up with the Guangzhou--

But if that had 7.5--

That's a city.

Yeah, I know.

If that's what they had, 'cause I can't

actually remember, didn't they?

I don't know about that.

No, I think on the back, they would usually

have little swoosh, the swooshy swoosh,

maybe they'd have the full logo.

But the front would usually be the sort of

rectangular box with the McLaren logo in it.

What's even more interesting is the steering

wheel has now got the old style with the Kiwi arms.

That's great, put the Kiwi on the car.

So Ben, explain that for--

Okay, it's a proper almost Porsche shield,

let's say.

Almost very well.

It says MCL 6GT, and then it's got,

we're gonna split the field into,

we've got a circle in the middle of a Kiwi,

then we've got top left quarter,

it's like a quitter, check a flag,

sort of, top right corner is,

I'm gonna see, I think I wasn't after

thought, and then the bottom part is,

let's fill it with some lines,

but it looks cool.

The top right looks like kind of two stripes,

which I assume it was a racing delivery.

Sure.

And speaking of all that McLaren sort of

stuff that we are talking about,

is that they've received some monies.

Oh yeah?

From an anonymous backup, that's not true.

From a shareholder, I don't call it,

someone's given them some money,

500 million to be precise.

You're welcome.

500 million to say they've had a cash injection.

So I think that's all that's surrounding like

this, you know, sort of rebrand,

I guess, if you like, but they're bringing a

lot more stuff in-house, including engine building.

Oh really?

So they traditionally used Riccardo engines

and have done for quite some time.

I've done about the V6, that might be

Riccardo, don't I?

But the V8 that everyone knows,

the modern V8 3.8, the four litre,

is Riccardo, which I think, someone correct

me if I'm wrong, is linked to a Nissan R390 engine.

Yeah.

So someone will know that.

Yeah, no, you're right, yeah.

40:00 McLaren's Rebrand and New SUV Plans

So rather than doing that, apparently they're

going to bring it all in-house.

So there's going to be apparently going to be

two engines and two gearboxes,

I believe, that they're going to bring all of

that in-house.

Really?

There is one other thing, though.

What's that?

And that is the SUV.

Yeah, so they have announced that there will

be a S of--

Yeah, so that SUV, that cash injection has

basically meant that they can kind of go and do that.

It will be apparently more DBX-Euras than

Purasangway, which makes sense,

I guess, something that's probably open to

more people, but I'm still interested to see

what that's going to be like.

Do you know what?

I think that will sell very,

very well.

I think it's a smart move from them,

because I now actually think McLaren is a

very well-known household name.

When I see young people or people on YouTube

talk about cars, it's like Ferrari,

Lamborghini, McLaren.

I think Lamborghini much more than Ferrari.

Ferrari's fallen off in that aspect.

Look, because I think the P1 immediately put

them in that chat.

And then just like 720s, they're streamers buying 720s.

20s and that's like all the LT stuff.

If you think the P1 came out,

probably, well, if people my age,

who have very much Instagram,

the influence of the very much my sort of

age, was it called?

Generation?

Yeah, sure.

That's the one.

I would have been 11 years old when the P1 came out.

So for me, I saw that.

I can't like how you guys saw the F1.

I was like, yo, what is this spaceship?

The 90s.

A little bit more like an end,

so.

Yeah, end zone, like I'm sure.

Yeah, I mean.

I don't know how you ship of my childhood,

that makes sense.

So I guess that makes sense why people are like you.

Punch that it is, McLaren doesn't,

I know people will probably say the same

about Ferrari and Lamborghini I guess,

but it doesn't, that's all they do.

Ferrari have done four-seaters.

They've done like, you know,

cars that are built for long journeys.

McLaren just do supercars.

Yeah, I mean, you can call someone in sports

cars, but they are all mid-engine supercars.

Like, forget the SLR McLaren.

Everything they've do has been like,

everything they've do.

What's all that then?

Oh, English is not good.

It's not great.

Everything they've done since they've been

back since the MP4 has been like that.

So that is what it feels like the biggest

departure from what a car manufacturer does,

even compared to Ferrari, compared to

Porsche, compared to Aston.

So it'll be interesting, isn't it?

Do you know what?

If I think if they make it, it feels like it

would be safe to bank on making it one of the

recognizable designs, making it the swoosh

light, like the 675 or that sort of stuff,

and leaning on that.

We're on to Artura, so that is a bit different now.

But whereas if you did something like that,

M6 GT, where it's like a fresh new design,

as an SUV though, I think that could work.

Because then you're not caught,

whenever I see the DVX or I see the Mintago,

I'm like, you're just a tall,

continental.

You just look air, man.

Come on, I guess again, fresh.

I guess that the one thing, if they're

building, their plan is to try and build that

all in house, it will be a car.

That's the one?

Yes.

That's an interesting one, actually.

That's what we'll go.

What about that?

No one's going to look at it and go,

I don't think it matters for those other cars.

For the most people that say that,

they're not the ones buying it.

No, of course.

That's just a Q7 or that's just in it.

You're going to be able to look at the

Eurostick, it's like, that's just an RSQ8.

People buying Eurostick don't care.

It may well be, but the Euro absolutely sells

like hot cakes.

But no one can ever say that about them a

clown, because then I'm going to go,

oh, well, that's just Nissan Patrol underneath.

I said, Arthur, you know what you guys.

Well, that's just a speed tag underneath,

isn't it?

That's bullshit.

How about that?

So yeah, I'm interested to see what they say.

If it keeps my crown doing cool stuff,

I don't care.

Ben, high-end style.

You mentioned a little earlier.

It seems like an afterthought.

Sure.

I'd like to throw it back on you.

Please don't do that.

We had an email.

Well, actually, you know what?

I'm going to give it to you straight first.

Is this the thing in the chat?

Ben, what is on the screen here for audio listeners?

That is a Audi R8 Gen 1.

I'm not saying it's a V8.

It's a V8.

I don't assume it's because of the amount of

lights and the headlights.

Well, this headlight, what was the unique thing?

was that it had DRLs.

That was kind of not a big thing back in 2008.

It set the trend.

Now, your mass.

Could you have a quick count of how many are in there?

Okay, he's just having a quick count.

There's 12.

There's 12.

Interesting.

Now, a creamer has sent in a website and

they've said in their email was just watching

a video by course car about random automotive trivia.

Here's a link to it.

And what I'm going to do, I'm just going to read you.

This is from the Audi USA website about the

Audi R8, a legend of its own lifetime.

If we just scroll down here,

and then we just move on to this one.

We have cutting edge lighting.

In line with this innovative design,

the headlights of the Audi R8 provided a 24

LED DRL signature as a nod to their victories

in the 24 hours of full amount.

Oh, shut up.

So do you think of that when you design there?

So now there are five different examples of

Audi's with different amounts of LEDs.

Nodding to different things.

But they didn't.

They didn't.

Are you telling me now that you genuinely

believe every single one of those was a

complete accident.

You're applying all numbers.

Or are you willing to eat your own hat?

No, you're applying me into it.

It's stupid.

But before you said they didn't design it

with that in mind.

Well, I can't prove that.

You just said it again.

You just said it again.

If you ask a designer, they're obviously

gonna say they did.

But I still believe that that is a,

it's a thing of like, you probably designed

it and went 24.

What could I signify?

That is fine.

I don't think they went right headlights 24

hours in the moment.

We've got to do something special there.

I don't believe that.

So what do you think they did do then?

I think they drew on a piece of paper.

Got a lot of dots.

That's pretty cool.

And then somebody there went--

But why did they choose that many dots?

Well, I think they probably just went,

oh, well, can this part of the car signify?

And then they went, sure, we'll throw that in there.

I don't think it was like from the ground up.

So now Ben, tell me about the A6 generation

that we owned.

The Lamon TDI, the one that was--

I don't recall that one.

It's a V6 special edition.

Okay.

Had 60 RLS.

Yeah?

Now I had 60 on each side.

Okay, no, no.

On each side.

So, 'cause it was a V6, right?

Well, that's just now.

Yeah.

Why is it that for the V10, they did 10?

They did the same generation of car,

but they deliberately changed the amount of DRLs.

Why about that?

That's very silly as well.

I've just realized because, okay,

so for the V6 one, they put six on each side,

right?

I assume it would be.

The RS6 has more.

RS6 has 10 on

each side, yeah.

This, they're saying it's in 2040 to 524.

No, it's 12 on each side.

So, they're not going through in

design language.

But that's not related to the engine though.

So, I'm assuming.

Yeah, but it's still silly.

Right.

Just be quiet.

They should have 24 on each side.

So, I think the RS6 is 10 on each side,

right?

It's more than a factory cost.

So, it's 10 on each side, and that signifies

Cylendris, yeah.

I was saying the V6 was six.

It is six on each side.

Is that more than a normal one?

Let me just double check.

What is the V6 on each side for the V6?

You want them to put 24 on each side.

I do, I think that would make more sense.

Why?

'Cause it would follow the rest of the world.

Well, it's like--

Text knowledge, so easy.

Gee, I don't think it came that.

Well, they probably got to, I'm sure the

first one they did it with, they were

probably like, "Oh, that's kind of cool.

We'll do it for the next one."

Yeah.

So you think they should, you know,

they should make a deliberate choice to put

as many LEDs.

If you're gonna do it, do it properly,

yeah.

So they did that.

Make it match, not match.

Mm.

But that's a completely different car.

It's a different model.

But still, it's the design thing of like each

headline will signify this, right?

It's not them together.

Why?

Well, because the other...

Why does it have to be this hard and fast school?

Who says this?

Well, I believe that should be the case.

If the first two are, you should make the third one.

It's a big tater.

It's a big tater.

It's just a minute ago, you believe that it

wasn't even a thing, but it wasn't even thought about.

You're a dictator who used to crush creativity.

What I would say is that they probably...

They did it on one of them.

I'm still saying they did it as an art of thought.

And they went, "Okay, now for next one,

maybe we'll do that."

That'll end it, maybe.

But I still think...

You might be the biggest author.

I still think that it's an afterthought.

I think they tried to apply meanings to

different parts of the car.

But it was a complete accident that they happened to...

Sure.

To add 20.

So they just went...

No, no, no, no.

Which one came first?

There's 24.

What, the chicken or the egg?

Which one came first?

Out of all these three cars they've done this

for, which one was the first?

The A6 or the R6?

Just 10 more volts.

That one.

You know what that means.

That's what I mean.

That's what I mean.

They go, "Oh, well, what could that signify?"

That would make sense because that would be

proven stance, whereas a deliberate design choice.

Fine.

For the ones that came after,

maybe that's the case.

They went, "Oh, we did it on the A6.

We'll do it on these."

But the A6, I still believe that they went,

"Oh, what can we apply to this stupid part of the car?"

Do you think, but why is that such a weird

thing to go?

Well, it's more likely that they accidentally

did it and they went super great idea.

It's so pointless.

Do you think the Audi lights,

like, you know, when they do the fancy dance

and they say like, "Oh, there's three.

say whatever you think."

Someone just coded it wrong and they went,

"Keep it."

No, that's not great.

It looks like a three.

But that's like a feature, I think.

You think this, like, you know,

when people look up into a cloud and go,

"This is the way the car looks."

Did you just say it's like a feature?

Yeah, but it is.

Meanwhile, headlights, well,

that's horrible.

No, but the headlights are like it.

That's design.

That's a little like novelty thing.

No, the design is different.

No, that's the same.

No, he's not.

Design is different.

That's the same.

It is crazy.

To me, I feel like you're trying to justify something.

Break that down for me.

Just stop for a minute.

Throw it back for me.

Tell me why having a life dance at the rear,

like something that says RS3 or whatever is

different because your LEDs have got my car.

It's ready to go.

Let's see if we can jazz it up a little bit.

It makes me think back.

Let's see if we can jazz it up a little bit.

That's what that is.

It's still afterthought, though,

because they jazz it up after the fact that

there's a design choice is like that.

is like, well, we've got the car now.

We've got the press conference.

What bollocks can we talk about on the stage?

But who do you think-- Right.

Why do you think they-- let's say the R8 was

first, right?

Well, then that's a different story.

Why?

Because the A6 is-- fine.

The R8 first, fine.

Right.

Let's say the R8 was first.

Why is it-- why do you think they chose 12?

I think-- actually, on the R8,

I would be more inclined to believe us next,

because-- [LAUGHTER] Because I was hoping

that you would come around this.

Can you hear what?

Fair enough.

Oh, my God.

I will always lose this, because any designer

you'll ask will go, "Well, of course they did that."

Of course they put the soul into the headlights.

That's a conspiracy there.

Of course they will, because the thing is--

Yeah, it might.

They're paying in the clouds with this stuff.

[LAUGHTER] Of course they're going to say

that, because it makes them sound fancier,

whereas the-- I'm saying that I believe the--

on the R8, particularly, because there isn't

24 in one light.

The other two is like, there's 10 each night,

whereas this is-- it's 24 totals.

There's a very high chance it went right,

but you know, I put 12 dots there,

12 up there.

51:00 Audi LED Headlight Theory Debate

Oh, that's 24.

You've never met a designer.

You don't understand how much they're like,

hold on, we could tie this in with this.

My brother's a designer.

Right.

Yeah.

OK.

And would you not say that?

Oh, he's-- yeah, 100% he didn't admit that.

You go, yeah, of course I did from the start,

but he didn't.

You.

But you know, I think they go right.

We're going to-- we need to design the headline now.

Yeah.

And then maybe in that conversation,

they go, how many dots do we need to do?

Idiot in the corner went, I think you should put 10.

10.

But then I think we should put 12.

Because then that's 24 total,

which signifies our victory at the 24 hours

of Le Mans.

I don't think that-- And then you get fired

because you are a buffoon.

OK.

Dance, hold on.

Wait, but surely they draw the whole car

first, not in the individual car?

OK, hold on.

I want you to walk us through what happened

in the Audi-- Right.

It's what happened, right?

They went, right, we're going to get a new car.

So you go off and design me a car.

They go off, they draw a car.

They go, this is the shape, this is whatever.

Now, you can-- the shape and the general

design-- I'm just going to stop you there.

Yeah.

What happened in the meeting?

No more politics.

The meeting has started.

What meeting?

What meeting are we having?

The one where we decide what the headlights look like.

Why are we having a meeting about headlights?

There's a waste time.

You are a waffle.

I'm budget cut to get out of here.

Just draw a headlight.

We're in the headlight.

Time out.

Well, fine.

For some reason, this stupid meeting we're

wasting everyone's time.

How many people in the meeting put 25?

Ben, also signifying the 25.

Gone.

There's absolutely-- They're having meetings

about this stuff.

Why?

They don't just go to someone,

just put it-- Come up with something in your

head, draw it, just put it in production.

Ben, do you know what the concept of Karl's

called for the R8?

I do now.

I've heard of this.

Just have a little bit of them on something,

surely.

Oh, there you go.

Oh, peculiar.

But that's a different thing.

That is a different thing.

If you're drawing a-- No, if you're designing

a car based off of like a race car or

inspired by a race car, that is a different thing.

Whereas if you just--

I didn't know that.

That's true.

If you go, we're going to make a car inspired by this.

Of course, I had all these little details on something.

When you're making a normal production car,

they're not going, "Oh, here's a new Hyundai I-20.

We've got inspiration from the old I-30."

But they will still do that.

That's stupid.

It's a waste of time.

No, it's not.

It is.

It's literally how design works because

otherwise, how do you create something fresh?

You have to take things from it.

I'm drawing it.

You haven't got-- Yeah, yeah,

yeah.

But you haven't got a bed and make it into

some-- You do it right now.

Come up with a new design.

OK.

Is it going to draw a box car?

Yeah, I will.

You're drawing a box car with square wheels.

This is-- And arches too far in the door.

You bought this debate to me about a year

after we first had it.

So I have to never recall what I initially said.

But I just-- I don't understand you.

I don't care.

It's harder to figure you out than this situation.

This situation is actually quite simple.

You believe.

Yeah, so you say, so you claim.

So we need to-- I just had to look through the designers.

We need Frank Lamberty.

Lamberty.

We have to get in touch with him,

see what he says?

We need to get him-- That's my point,

though.

But my point is, is that if you ask him,

of course he's going to say that he did that,

because it makes him-- No, it's been a while now.

He might go, "You know what?

Fair enough, mate."

Yeah.

I just made it all up.

You know what?

I've just blagged that one.

I said, "Do you think he designed it like that?

He took it into the meeting and said,

"Here's the design."

And maybe out, he went, "Buddy L."

Now, we could see why you've put 24 DRLs,

and he went, "Yeah!"

He went, "Oh, that happens to think of it.

That's a good point."

Now, Ben, these are the thing,

the concept, which looks similar in nearly

every other way.

They had some futuristic, non-realistic lights.

So that was one of probably the main things

that they had to choose to read.

No, yeah, I did count.

They're not, they're not, they're nine,

and then an eight.

Which is, was that insane?

The year that they were.

Yeah, exactly.

I mean, you're applying meaning to it afterwards.

But yeah, but that makes sense.

But if it, if it didn't add up to 12,

it would make sense.

If it doesn't, that's my point.

Right.

But when they actually made the car,

it did.

But you were saying, "Nah."

But is it good proof on my end?

Nope.

Because they would have done it from the

start if they were building it from the

ground up with this amazing design and

feature of a light, wouldn't they?

No, because concept cars always have features

that can't be put on the ground.

The concept car, that is the,

that is the Audi Lamont's concept.

Well, how about, how about I find out and see

if there's something to do with the lights?

Sure.

That is the Lamont concept right there.

That's going to have the lights.

That's going to go, we've got the lights on it.

It's, it harks back to race-winning car.

Whereas they've now put into production where

it's no longer a Lamont car.

It was, the reason they looked like that is

because that was the first ever all LED headlights.

like design, a feature that later debuted on

the production at Audi R8.

Exactly.

And how many of them are there?

But that wasn't, that wasn't the thing there.

The thing there was showing off that they

could do for LEDs.

But if you did it from the ground up,

wouldn't it be like, you know what,

let's put 12 on each side.

But they probably, 'cause not only have we

got these new lights, they're harking back to

the Lamont-winning car.

But I think the more impressive thing here

was just having LED lights.

Sure, yeah.

Good job.

But I'm saying that like you would put 12 on,

if it was from the ground up,

you're saying when they initially drew the

car, they put these in there as a design thing.

could, yeah, entirely out of LEDs,

the structural framework of the body and Audi

space frame shape with the Dorado.

It's made out of LEDs.

Yeah, a whole shatty bit out of LEDs.

It's just an OLED TV.

So for those of you listening,

this is what we have to deal with.

Yeah, no, it is an interesting,

this is what I have to deal with.

I think this falls better on our side in this case.

But it's a rare time that you will certainly

have people on your side.

But Pioneer often work.

But what a silly army you have,

if so.

Ben, I've got some good news for you though.

Speaking, nope.

Unfortunately not.

Not just yet.

Yeah.

Because you are silly and we need to hear

about how silly you are.

Let's do it.

But this is good news for you and all of your fans.

Oh, this is the new thing you put in the thing.

And it's good news for your country because

we got an email the other day related to Spotify Premium.

Now, most of you will have no effect on this update.

So if you aren't aware, we're also on Spotify.

You might be listening to us on the Spotify already.

You can also see Spotify video.

Yeah, exactly, which is very,

very cool.

But we got an email saying that it's going to

be Spotify video and Spotify Premium will be

available in more and more countries.

One of those being Bristol.

Yeah, not true.

They are years away from getting me into that.

But one name stood out, Ben.

One country stood out.

Where is that?

And who's?

Who's giving me a Barbados?

Who's peeping us?

Don't worry.

When you're back at home this week,

you can now

watch us on Spotify.

So when you fly back on the old PJ...

I went there one time.

I watched it at the same time on location.

Also, that

reminds me.

Food and fuel is this weekend.

It's filming a

little bit back behind.

It is the tent this Saturday.

Tickets will still be available to come see

us at Bista there.

Don't be selling any cream merch there.

Maybe the next one.

We will have some cream merch live and direct.

But I'm

hoping to see some creamers out in there much.

This is

going to be fun.

If I see someone wearing a photo of Ben's

face on the back, I will laugh.

We

have seen a load of people asking for a cheaper T-shirt.

We are looking into that and seeing if we can

put that

together.

The

M3,

This is the

nature of human desire.

The other one, the reason the other one

didn't do that was because it wasn't an

engine, was this one?

No.

But it doesn't match the other two.

That's different era, though,

isn't it?

Doesn't match.

Why?

Why two are different eras?

So that's actually the same as an R8.

Can't change that.

Well, no, it should have the same number of

LEDs, so it matches the...

How would I know if it was an Audi?

Can I just say that I really hate you?

Yeah, like a lot, a lot.

But then it would look very similar to the

R8, because it had so many LEDs.

Of course, you should.

No, I'm not harking back to that.

The R8 is obviously the Le Mans winning car.

No, but what I'm saying is if that's got 12,

on each side, and then we put eight on each

side, we've got quite a lot.

It might start to look quite similar.

But I want both to recognize it as an Audi.

And would you not admit that's a very radical new design?

You tell me.

You look at the new Velary and you can't

recognize that it's an Audi.

No, I can't.

No, that's got my headlights.

That's how important it is.

That's how...

Well, in the drawing room, they made the drawing room.

They're just kids.

They were just kids.

They were like, "That's like a lounge,

right?"

Yeah, sure.

In the drawing room where they sketched out

this car and they went, "God,

the headlights, they've got to signify something.

I need them to make sure that they mess you up."

I want to put Ben in a room with Frank Stephenson.

Ben and I argue with him.

I'm shy, so I'll just...

I'll just...

Yeah, you'll just...

I'll go see him.

I'll go see him.

But then, he won't take any of it in though.

That's the thing.

He'll just go...

He'll wait till Frank leaves.

Yeah, and then he'll come back to us and go...

He'll go, of course he'll say,

"Oh, yeah, bullshit."

That's what I mean, of course he'll say that.

Of course he'll say that.

Of course he'll say that.

He's got to go, "You know what?

You've called me out here, fair enough."

Same thing I'm doing right now.

I'm not going to admit, am I?

That's the equivalent of you getting a kind

of nice artsy shot of videography.

And then as you walk out the room,

someone's turning around going,

"Of course he would say that shot was deliberate."

He just hit roll on the camera.

It's happened to look good.

There have been many shots in my time that I

have got accidentally and I'll happily admit that.

But would you admit the what about ones you

deliberately tried?

I'd say I tried to get them.

Oh, but I'd go, "Course he'd say that."

Yeah, exactly.

Yeah, you would.

Exactly.

But I'm banking on the fact that that I mean

you have to strongly believe that I didn't

get the shot on purpose.

I do believe that fully all the time.

I don't think that's true.

What have we got before we lose everyone to

us arguing like old, chilling,

closest women.

I don't think it can be concluded.

I think Audi get in touch.

It is, yeah.

Frank Lambert-y, Lambert-y, Lambert-y.

And or Frank Stevenson, any other car designers.

I want to get Ben just discussing.

He's going to say that.

But you're going to say that?

So there's no point.

But we'll see who argues it better.

Well, here, obviously, he's designer.

There you go.

And it's probably more professional than me,

and probably more confident than me.

Probably probably.

1:03:00 Swiss Businessman's Car Collection

He came up on my phone earlier today.

It was a little while ago for you now that a

Swiss businessman has passed away.

That's usually Ben's sort of,

you know, what he gets, you know,

on his morning news.

Uncle Adolf.

It's gone.

God.

Oh, no.

But this man is, Albert Speese is a,

was a very big car collector.

I had no idea it was as big.

It was just, you mean, you were laughing at,

hey, he was big.

He was very big.

He was like six foot nine.

Oh, really?

That is not true.

The reason I found it is that a,

the page I follow, said he passed away.

This wasn't public or from what I can see,

had 15 EB1 tents.

What the?

So, and then I thought, let me just check

what else you end.

There's some crazy stuff on this list.

So there's two Ferrari, Lamborghini,

they're called five nine fives.

They, you've probably seen a photo of them

before, but you don't, you probably don't

know what they are.

Here they are.

Right.

So they are based off Guayados.

Here they are.

You've probably seen that somewhere in like a

concept or in a magazine, Will,

would you say it's like a Zagato?

Yeah, it also looks like a, one of the nineties designs.

Like a carless sort of thing.

But so he owns both, there are five of those

in convertible, five of those in Capay.

He owned one of each, obviously.

There are, now I'm just doing,

I'm just hitting the big ones here for a

Lamborghini 350 GT and the GTV,

which is like the Zagato designed one,

an F50, a Maserati bird cage concept.

That's the one which I think was in Project

Gotham Racing or something.

And now from a 33 Stradale, the Lamborghini

Carla concept, the V10 one, the Bugatti

Chiron concept, which is from the late 90s,

it was like what ended up looking like the Vayron.

We've got a whole host of basically every

Lamborghini that you can think of,

the ED110 prototype, multiple Maseratis,

Lamborghini Bura SVR, that's that like mad,

which I'm wide body thing, about five or six

concepts, near a roadster, the one that would do that.

Could you tell me about this earlier on?

I was confused because I see that car,

it's at the factory.

So I can only assume that maybe the museum,

Lamborghini Museum of Celio will look after

it, because it's not really legal,

I don't think.

No, I think he also has the original Kuntash

LP 500 prototype unveiled at the 1971 G&E of my show.

Now, things that we're more into is this photo.

Now, Ben, I don't know if you saw this,

but we have a Veneno Roadster,

a Centenario in pink, the new Kuntash LP 700.

800, sorry?

A Cyan Roadster, a Reventon Roadster,

and a Cesto Elemento.

Cesto Elemento, so cool.

Now, that is, this is just from like a

two-minute search on what he had,

slash has, that's crazy.

That is a big collection of cars.

That is a cool collection.

Where they going?

Yeah, where they at?

What's the plans at?

So, I wonder if Lamborghini go,

let us buy the big boys back.

And then there was one other car that I saw

that was quite interesting.

Where is the Venenos?

Where are they?

I've seen one of the owners and only one I

think I've seen in person, I'm fairly sure is

one of the museum.

But where are they?

They've got that in an 800.

It's like the only ultra exclusive car that

you just never hear about or ever see,

ever.

'Cause we saw, we saw a contest,

didn't we?

We saw every single eventadore variant.

Variants.

Why aren't from that?

Apart from that?

I didn't know this, so there are only four coupe Venenos.

There are nineverts.

But even we've seen cars, we have seen cars

out about, we've known, we've seen cars.

We've been lucky enough to go to a event

where there is every single insane hypercar

and super easy to imagine.

There was Ford Fiesta.

We've seen those.

Ford or, there was, there was Mondayo maybe

at one point.

We saw a Fiesta soon.

That was rare.

That's rare.

In the UK.

But we've never seen a Veneno.

We've never even heard of one being at these events.

Where are they?

Are they just in a bunker somewhere?

Well, where are yours?

Well, I'm not saying that.

I'm trying to price up.

That is, but crazy, crazy collection to have.

So, be cool to see if some of those hit like

an auction or something soon.

And we see, I think a lot of it's gonna

happen behind closed doors.

It always does.

Brief bad news about auction.

I didn't win the William.

I can't believe it.

I was very, genuinely upset.

I was actually really upset to hear this.

Absolutely upset.

You have to explain.

You didn't even get there in time to bid.

I didn't even get there in time.

It did go way over.

It went way over.

I was never gonna win it for it was.

It was auction number 808 and I watched the

auction all day because there was a 599 I

wanted to see go through, which went for some

silly money.

It was 150k.

and all stuff.

It was like Bentley Turbo R.

There was lots of really cool stuff.

Some of it's been off the road for a while.

I wanted to see what those prices were and

lots of stuff was going for like under or low

estimate or just not selling at all.

It got to the William and I knew it.

I knew this would happen.

Something would distract me from it happening

and who arrived?

But my granddad with his car,

with his insignia, that was not running correctly.

So this clattery insignia arrived and he was

like, "There's something wrong with it."

So I had to go outside and fix it,

turned out to be a boost hose,

fixed it, I went back to my phone to get the

auction up and it was number 811.

I'd missed it by three.

And then when I tried to pull up the auction

page again, because I had it saved,

it just said, "Era 404 not found."

I was like, "Fantastic."

They pulled it from the auction.

That's why I missed it.

They went, "Will's not bid."

"We'll have to take that off."

And then I looked back, you can see the live

stream of the auction from YouTube and it was

like, "The, I don't know if I should come in,

but I think they would have just called it the William."

And it was like 1200, 14, 18,

2000.

And I heard 3000, I was like,

was never going that high.

I think I put a proxy bid in it,

like 1200 grid as a, like, maximum.

This is, the car was in Scotland.

I have to get a tiny little thing transported down.

So I'm very sad about that.

We could have driven it.

If you know of a William at any point,

please let us know.

Any Williams, but I like that spec.

I think it's called a farmer.

Which is the two seat, I think they're all two seats.

But divert, yeah.

Lovely.

Pulling up a fantastic.

Pulling up in the summer in the William is...

And it had an 850 CC, I don't know if you

said this before about more info,

but it had an 850 CC engine,

compared to the 125 it usually has.

So it would have flew.

It was crazy.

Anyway.

So one day, William maybe may have to be around.

I just need that as a little runabout.

On that sad note, I think it's time to end the poker.

We don't like to end on a sad one,

but hey, you don't win them all.

We've been arguing quite a lot.

Ben's off to design school.

I'm off to leave a car absolutely not with

the handbrake on.

Thank you very much for listening to this

episode of The Cream Podcast.

We will see you back next week,

as always, with 104.
