0:00 Introduction and Rule or Ruin
I'm not going to lie to you guys,
your safety is not my priority.
Thanks for doxing my school.
What are they going to do?
Go and see your school.
Is that what cream is going
to go?
Ben used to go out of the paggars,
mate.
The own paggars
on Dini.
Hello and welcome back to the Cream podcast.
That is the Car's Rule Everything Ami podcast
with myself, Will, Edwin to my right.
Ben, over there, just over there,
behind the camera, behind the cameras,
behind and in front of.
Every single one of these podcasts,
we ask the question, have Car's Rule or have
they ruined us this week?
Edwin, what do you think?
I'm saying it's a rule because by now,
let me think about this.
There will be a video on the Golf R.
Ben, you need to tell if that's correct or not.
Yes, it will be out.
You have seen now that the Golf R that we
built on C makes ludicrous amounts of power.
We put it on a new set of wheels.
It looks fantastic.
I'm actually really sad that we're selling that car.
I wasn't expecting to.
When we bought that car, I went,
"There's a Golf R."
I've liked that more and more that we've
worked on it.
I feel like at some point in my life,
I'd like a Golf R now.
It's so very fast and the brakes work so very hard.
Oh, the brakes, man.
They didn't hit the brakes earlier on.
Oh my God, the seat belt put in work.
I really like how it drives.
It's good.
That platform I really like.
I don't know if this will still,
yeah, you might be able to still win it.
So you don't have a good world still be on.
So this will still be three or four days left.
Coming out on Monday, but it's a rule for that.
It's a rule, oh, it's a rule because tomorrow
we're going, well, you may have seen that
we've been doing some moonlighting for collecting cars.
They invited us to Dunsfold and I'm excited for it.
I'm bringing the M3.
Will, there's a noise limit.
There is a noise limit and also you need a
car to start.
Yeah, 'cause currently behind us for the
audio viewers, audio viewers,
that is.
There's a Lamborghini motor car on a lift.
Yeah.
And you need to do work on it.
I need to do work on it for tomorrow.
It'll probably be fine for tomorrow,
but I'd rather, there's a couple of things I
need to make.
Yeah.
So, yeah, for that.
But your rule?
I'm saying I'm a rule.
It's been a pretty normal week.
It has been, but you, on the other hand,
have some news.
I have news.
I have purchased a car.
Yes, I have purchased a car.
It will mean that there will have to be one
out at some point.
And it's either a 1.59 or a McGahn.
No, the McGahn, McGahn, I have an idea for it.
It needs to get to a point where it still
needs to do track bays.
It isn't going any time soon.
But at some point this year,
that will go because it needs to make way for
the new car, which is an E-90 term three.
Yo!
So, it's been in the works for a long time.
Well, upwards of a decade.
Oh, it could be, I reckon it's easily five years.
Easily, easily five years.
So, John Benson of tire reviews,
if you've ever seen tire reviews on YouTube,
it'll be him doing those tire reviews.
Had an E-90 term three, he bought in 2019,
sent it.
And we used to work with him at car throttle,
so he was a sort of friend of car throttle.
Yeah.
It has his own channel, doing tire reviews.
That's cool.
Really?
What's it called?
I think it's tire reviews.
That makes sense.
And he bought this, and he already had an M3.
Some of you might have seen an M3 on car
throttle, V10 Woo.
That's right.
M3 manual, it was in a few, it was in the ice
two hundreds.
Yeah, it was in the ice two hundreds.
And one of the Cobra series anyway.
So it was in a bunch of different videos.
And then he bought his other car,
which was intended for him to build on his channel.
That was in 2019.
He then moved to the U.S.
for like permanently moved to the U.S.
like living their passport type shit.
And that car's just sat for four or five years.
And every single time I post anything,
he messages me saying, buy my M3.
It's not better if it was my M3.
If you go through some of Will's older
Instagram posts, he'll be on that.
He's usually in the comments there going,
this is cool.
is not the right M, is it?
This is a small M.
This is the smaller M.
So he may even have John Benson on the
podcast as a midweek guest, because he's a
very funny and also a
4:13 Edwin's E-92 M3 Acquisition
very knowledgeable man.
He's just done so many things.
So we had to pick up the M3 from a very,
I don't actually know
if I can say so I'm not going to say.
It was an MOD nuclear
bunker.
It felt like it.
It depends, private compounds.
It was, it was where they keep his money.
Oh, thought marks.
Yeah, basically.
And I made it in.
I made it in.
I made it in.
So yeah, E-90, M3, manual 53,000 miles.
This, it's rough.
This is your third M3.
Yes.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Third E-92, M3.
This is like the NMX-5.
I wanted to complete the trif,
no, it's not even a trifecta,
but I wanted a DCT normal one,
which is my first one, then a C of charged
one, and then this one's a manual.
I don't know if you need maybe the 90.
There were mods I never did on the old ones
that I now wish to do on that,
and it is scabby.
And if you are a rat company,
let us speak.
Or paint, if there's someone who wants to do
something paint-wise on that car,
the paint, I don't know who painted it.
Is there some of it paint?
Some of it's not paint.
Mr.
Wonder, perhaps.
But it's just a cool car.
As soon as I saw it, even though it was
rough, I was like this.
It's cool.
And I couldn't, I shouldn't really be buying
it, but I thought if I can buy it,
it would have been again in the future,
then it will make sense.
But the Mégane is still, that's a comrade at
the moment, waiting for that to come back.
It's making progress, it needs to be,
I think it still needs its drive shaft and a
few other bits going in.
I don't know what, 1.59 that I mentioned in a while.
We were talking about it earlier.
It's, how many miles have you done now?
It's coming up at one, just 38 or 139.
So I think I've done about seven K or so in it.
And how about what's it cost?
Nothing.
Just feeling.
What have I actually fixed?
You put a CD in it, I put a CD in it.
You put the back seats in it.
That's the one thing I'm missing is I'm
missing like nice audio.
Yeah.
I'm listening to CDs and I've only got three.
You've got Michael Jackson.
I've got a Jamirokai one.
Pink Floyd's now in the machine.
I've got the moment.
So I'm running out of, you are,
you're living like an early 2000s man.
You're like, I got CDs.
I've got a binder in the boot.
My girlfriend said to me, it's like,
do we, do we have to listen to Jamirokai over and over?
Cause it's like 19 songs on the album,
but only we'd like actually like listening to
sort of six of them.
So it's the same.
six on an hour long journey.
You listen to it a few times.
I'm pretty cool with it.
But everyone else isn't.
So one five nine is good and great.
It does need some things.
It needs some.
Very clean, clean little reference there.
What's that?
You said you just said everything is good and great.
Everything is good.
And yeah, but the United to obviously it's
been off the road for a while,
but still I did a car vertical check on it
before having a look at it.
In fact, I actually the cover to check on it
many, many months ago.
When I, when I thought it was,
it might happen.
I was like, I'll check it out.
So when Benson sent me the spec of the car,
I went, I know.
Because the car vertical will actually,
not only will it tell you whether a car has
been crashed stolen or clocked or if it's got
financed or it's ever been written off,
anything like that.
He also has lots of other extra bits like it
will tell you if a car has ever had an
assessment for crash damage.
It will also have your whole history timeline
of the car when it was registered,
every single MOT, when the ownership change,
when the number plate changed,
which has been really good on that car specifically.
It will also tell you specs of cars as well.
So for that car, it was great because the
speckle that car as in the colors boring,
is back of the car.
It's got individual load of interior.
It's got the individual audio,
it has the rear sun blind and it works as well.
Always jealous.
It's got extended leather.
It's got so many little options that I don't
want it to be a track car now.
It's got to be nice.
It's got to be an OEM plus.
But a car vertical check again.
I trust John.
So it's a weird situation where I'm buying
from a friend, but still always when I car
vertical check every single time you're
buying a car because people leave things
under stones and you must find those by time.
turning those stones over and car vertical is
the tool in
which you turn the stone over.
8:30 Driving Experiences and Clio Updates
Today, for me, it's going to be a rule.
Impossible.
Impossible.
A big rule.
I've been driving my Cleo muchly,
making loud noises and sounds.
And it's great.
I'm very, very pleased of it.
My fire cars has returned.
You know
what?
You missed it.
So yesterday, Will went to go and look at the M3.
Ben and I stayed here to finish up some work
on some other cars.
And it got to lunchtime.
And usually, we all go as a gang.
We're all together.
And we have Patrick with us too.
And so I said, we're going the ML.
And then went, I want to go in the clear.
So we went in two cars.
Wow, you're too clear to lunch.
So I drove the ML and then Will,
Ben and Patrick took the clear.
Wow.
And what
was it?
Sort of 3000?
Oh, did you get to 4000?
There was a point just removed across lanes
where I think you might have hit 35.
It was Jesus.
Patrick decides to have a phone call with his
wife halfway through the drive.
So I just couldn't really.
I was like, well, I can't do anything.
You're just blaming other people.
You had to bang in gears.
I'm just doing dirty down shifts in the
background of this phone call.
But how is it?
It's great.
It's really good.
It's the sound of it.
Force in the car for me, like exhaust,
don't do much.
It always sounds bad as well.
The last car sounds so motorsport.
It does sound good.
And it's got, I don't know if it's a map or
if it's exhaust, but it's got a little bit
overrun, but just enough.
So when you do, particularly a third to
second downshift, it would do like a little
pop, not a pop and bang like a little.
I'm very interested because it didn't have
that when I had it.
It's a little bit.
John who took it to EFI, if they could add that in.
Because you want pops and bangs,
you specifically wanted a little bit of burble.
So it's on the motorway as well,
because it's obviously very hot.
If you're in sixth and you just shift down to
fifth and then fourth, it will do a little,
it will do a little burble then.
Will four people aren't as carversed as we are.
What's the difference between a pop and bang
and a burble?
Pop and bang is fourth.
Pop and bang is more, I mean,
it's kind of in the name.
It's quite aggressive.
It is a bang.
and a pop.
And they normally crackle.
If you ever hear someone say crackle map,
I was actually behind yesterday on the way to
see the seven three.
I was getting closer and closer to Birmingham
and I just heard noise in the distance.
I thought it was a golf car.
It wasn't.
It was a GTE.
Oh, I think it has a four, seven.
Yeah, it's a four, seven.
It's got like a hybrid or whatever.
The worst crackle map I've ever heard.
The guy kept down shifting, speeding up and
going, whoa, bang, bang, bang,
bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,
bang.
That's not pleasant at all.
But a little like, blow it up.
Yeah.
The Clio has as of your Mégane,
but a very subtle
amount.
I do notice you, I could have a 10,
15% more, like,
so it does it all the time, but it,
you know, then it will
be the sort of gluttony describing the Bible,
you know,
where it feels greedy.
Whereas now I get a very nice satisfaction
when it does do it, like, there it is.
It doesn't always reward you.
You have to work hard for it.
Yeah.
So-- Is that a sin?
Gluttony is a sin.
Yeah.
What are the other ones?
I have no idea.
A book because that was the--
Was it the Bible?
No, no, no.
I've been, I bought, I'm halfway through,
it's riveting.
I bought, it's, this is completely off the
topic that you reminded me by saying that word.
The, when the most long ago launched,
part of the thing was the seven deadly sins
and all the paperwork would say this,
one of them threw me off.
Okay.
So we've got, I know it's going to be,
it's going to be the last one.
Number one pride.
You're happy with that.
That's a sin?
Yeah.
What being though?
It'll be too prideful.
Don't be too, no, you can't be like full of proud.
Number two.
Oh, does that mean like arrogant?
Yeah.
Oh, sure.
Ben sort of.
Which car would be pride?
Pride would be, pride would be a Ferrari.
I, yeah.
I actually see, I'm going to say it's
something, it's English.
That's overlooking all of the issues.
Yeah.
Because you're proud that it's in English.
Yeah.
That's what English car people do.
They go, no, no, no, my MG is good.
I've had to rebuild it sometimes.
It's a stag in it.
It's a great car.
Greed.
Fair.
I think Ferrari's greed.
I think Ferrari could be greed.
There's air of Porsche in there.
Okay.
I like that.
I like that.
There's a lot of people with Porsche,
especially the model, Porsche's sort of,
you know, nothing wrong with it.
A lot of them think this is the big boy.
Lust.
Lust?
That's got to be Lamborghini.
Okay.
To me.
Or do you know what?
Or it's Alfa Romeo.
I'm going to say it's Alfa Romeo,
simply because that's the, that's the default.
Everyone will always go, it's so thoughtful.
God, it's so lustful at 8C.
Go back one, five, nine, JTDN.
God, I do.
It's 4K.
I do bad things to have that car.
Man's Ferrari.
Envy.
Envy.
I think Lamborghini.
I think that would be Lamborghini.
Because that's, that is the Instagram car now.
I don't think Ferrari is the Instagram car.
No.
It's Lamborghini.
It's a gin tarniest.
What's that?
Yeah, it would like that.
Gluttony.
Gluttony.
Gluttony has got to be like a dodge.
Or a Hummer.
Yeah.
Hummer, yeah.
Or, or, or like a Hellcat maybe.
Just, just, just mad fat.
There's been no reason.
Big, just big for wrath.
What does that mean?
What?
The wrath of God, anger, like wrath.
Fury.
What, sorry?
Like the wrath of things.
Yeah, sure man.
And then that's where the wrath of something.
Look, I'm posh, Ben.
The private school is coming out of here.
The, oh, that's going to be for me.
Now that could be, Jai's.
That's like a, that's your Holy Trinity of
RS3, Golf R and M140.
Oh, okay.
Cause it's, it's quite an aggressive thing.
If you hear them.
There to strike down upon them.
Yeah.
Jesus.
I quite like that.
Good stuff.
You will feel my wrath.
Like, like you will feel it.
Finally.
This is the one that Will is talking about
sloth or sloth.
Yeah.
To be lazy, to be, to be, you know.
I just thought they could have picked a bad word.
Just mad lazy.
I was scrolling through it.
I was like, yeah, it's a great word.
It's all, and it says it in different languages.
I was able to say it in Italian and then I
think it was Italian, German and English and each word.
I was going through and I went,
sloth.
I was like, no, that must be like the,
it must be the non-English, like the Italian
on the German one.
I was like, no, no, they just sounded better.
I was like, sloth.
That's wack.
Sloth.
could be, I guess that's.
There's a picture of a nice logo,
just says sloth.
I don't know.
What would that be?
Is it a car that?
Slow, think about slow, that you can.
Joy, Joy is.
It's not only a brand, it's more like the
type of car is, it's, it's, it's,
it's those, you know, like AMG line cars or M
line cars, but they just have the body kit.
They're not actually, they're not actually
the big boy.
A deadly sin for sure.
Yeah.
I don't know what that brand that would be though.
A car.
Germany.
I was going to say '70s, Malays-era America.
Oh yeah.
Where you're just, you're just mad.
All that could, that could also be gluttony.
Between fair American, American cars fit most
of the same, they look at the same.
There we go.
Yeah.
Nobody will put them all in there.
That's fantastic.
Don't know how we got there,
but you said gluttony and I don't remember it.
I said it, yeah.
So I like the fact that you got to somewhat
work for the pops and bangs.
It's nice though, but it, what I really like
about it is that you don't
15:25 Car Vertical Discussion and Future Plans
hear much induction noise lower down.
You do like, very low down, but when you're
going for it, between three and five K,
that's exhausted.
I love Le Mans 66.
He's exhausted.
And then when you get up to really high in
the revs, the exhaust sort of goes,
oh, I'll step back for a second and the
induction kit really screws.
But it is, it is, ah yeah.
The Afe is it's.
Oh, he ends raspy and Ben.
Nice.
Ben, the other night said, I want to take the
golf home tonight, just so because on Friday,
we've got a tuning session with the Fiesta.
That's also kind of a rule, because when you
wheels for that, I'm excited.
with Peter at TRS.
A favorite.
Big man like Peter.
What was it forward to at TRS?
Great song about Peter Trander on Spotify.
You can find that.
That's a rat dog made that.
But more importantly, Ben was like,
well, I'm not with you guys on Thursday
because I have to edit.
So sorry, Wednesday and Thursday.
So what I'm going to do, I'll take the golf
home one night, I'll take the Clio home so I
can bring it with on Friday.
That's how you know that you're happy with
that car because you're thinking ahead so
that you can use it.
The one thing that I'm not enjoying,
which I need to fix, is the cruise control isn't working.
So for my commute, it makes a bit annoying.
I'm just sat there just going,
I get a bit.
I left off and he goes, what's the car doing?
Why are you doing that with the car?
You got speed limits though.
That works.
So I thought it was just to smash into the car.
But I actually did do that for a bit.
It works.
But as a parent has a switch on the clutch so
that the cruise control, they get stuck down
and the cruise control basically thinks the
clutch is being pressed at all times.
It's just you're just banging off the limit
of doing so many things.
The car's going, "How's this going to change
in gear and still moving and doing all of
this while pressing the car?"
Yeah, so I need to fix that.
And then it will be just, 'cause I like,
one of the things that I think I might have
said it, that I didn't like that S2000 is
that I never wanted to bring it to work.
Cry, I lived for the web time,
so it was more annoying.
But on the other hand-- A lot of roundabouts
are the way there, isn't it?
Yeah, scared of dying.
I got really, I used to find it really
annoying to have to just sit there and
modulate speed, whereas in my old Clio,
I could just go, "I'll bring the Clio,
check it on cruise."
And then when I get to Twisties,
it's really, now I'll hair into corners.
There is coming up.
Now, it will be just under a month away.
Shelly will, she'll climb up,
food and fuel.
You can get tickets for that.
Shout out.
We're going to be there.
We're going to be there.
It's going to be a lovely event.
Now, Benjamin, you will be taking the microcar off.
Indeed.
Obviously.
As the event, I mean, you're the whole reason
we're doing the thing.
Will you take the-- I was about to call it the Fiesta.
No, the Clio up to you.
I've been offered.
I've been offered.
I've been in my DMs.
my Slack messages.
And I said, I'll think about it.
Because I really want to.
But also, I'm fearful-- John Fearful of.
I can't be vulnerable for a second.
It's the initial bet.
A stat like you and you pull up--
Everyone's looking at you.
And in the microcar, I don't mind it because
it's a joke.
I'm wearing a flowery hat.
Haha.
Have a good time.
In my car, I thought you got to go for it.
You're pulling up-- It would sound great.
It would sound great.
I want to do it.
But also, do I have to burn out?
Pull off in second.
I don't have anyone that's doing a burnout.
No, but at the start, a little bit.
No, you could do a small, like,
cutched dump or like a little one just to get
a wheel spin.
You don't have to.
You can just pull past it.
Just put up to the line.
Pull off in second.
Just go for it.
I'm going sick.
See, I don't want to do it because I don't
want to-- But I think you've got to give it
some beans off the line.
Ben, do it.
Yeah, I'll do that off the line.
Yeah, but it's the-- It's the initial burnout.
I don't want to mash things up.
Do a rolling start from the paddock.
Just straight through the whole crowd.
I will not be doing that.
Your safety is our 10-1 priority.
Second for me.
Number one priority for me is doing a burnout.
I'll be doing that for you.
I'm not going to lie to you guys.
Your safety is not my priority.
There's up there?
It's up there, for sure.
All about having some nice food.
Also, no, safety is high.
I think the burnout is higher,
though, than safety.
And Edwin will not be having any seafood
pizza the night before this time.
I'm getting Chinese the night before.
Let's ruin this show.
Yeah, I'll take a little while.
OK.
Oh, no, maybe I'm good.
There we go.
I'm looking forward to seeing that.
I'm looking forward to seeing some creamers there,
too.
Yeah.
Hopefully.
People listen to the podcast.
Right.
Shall we get into the panic?
Is that three rules?
That's three rules.
Three rules.
Good work, gang.
Yeah.
Good job.
See you next week.
Nice.
That's it.
That's the end of the podcast.
Right.
What have we got?
We have got, first up, from you,
Benjamin, is Mazarati V8 Clio.
I've seen it, but tell me about it.
OK, you don't know.
You don't even remember it.
You put this in.
Oh, I have seen this.
Yeah.
No, but we discussed it.
I put it in.
OK.
I thought it was said, I just wanted to let
the crew as though we talked about it without you.
But sometimes we don't want to talk about it.
Sometimes you're working on the car.
You're doing something.
We discussed something.
You go, oh,
can you whack that in the podcast chat?
Did we say that?
Don't remember.
Maybe.
Probably.
So it's a clear V6.
It's a
Renault Clear Mark II V6.
With the Mazarati.
Is it a V6?
This is what I don't think so.
Because where is the engine?
In the back.
No, in the front.
Exactly.
So what was the point in this whole exercise,
then?
Why would you need to buy a V6?
Yeah.
Unless it's a 14-cylinder, in which case it's
still got a V6.
Fantastic.
V6 is in the back for the Eco Run.
So it's a Mazarati.
It looks like, what is it?
The Grand Sport type interior.
The steering wheel is from a Grand Sport.
The dashboard's not?
I didn't remember.
I seem to remember.
It was dashboard also, but feel free to.
I just don't think I'm wrong.
I remember the steering wheel being an old
Grand Sport, not a Gran Turismo or a watch port.
A 4.2 V8.
Yeah.
Or unless it's a 3.2 V6.
2 Turbo.
I didn't see.
I couldn't remember looking at the engine bay
long enough.
Did the turbos have the nice V8 manifold that
all the 4.2s have?
I don't know.
I know that they're really far underneath,
so they're quite far away.
But either way, cool.
Just a weird, what are you doing?
I hope it's not easy.
No.
I'm going to doubt it, just because I don't
think the infrastructure, I guess we can call
it that, is that it would be better in front
engine car than it would be in a rear engine car.
I don't know.
Maybe there's a bit of time normal related J-Pry.
Surely it's going to drive badly,
though, because that's very heavy engine.
There was a guy who put a S65 M3 engine in a
mini as well, but it's a
21:40 Clio V6 Build-Up Speculation
similar sort of thing.
Yes, it's still knocking around,
but it's like super short wheelbase.
Obviously, the Clio V6, if it's as wide as a
V6, it's barely wide, but it's still really short.
From what I remember to have,
people who drove that powerflex mini said it
was actually very good.
But also, I will say, having driven,
I used to drive my 182 P.O.
against my mates, R53, Mini,
even that completely way heavier feeling,
much more sturdy feeling.
A Clio is a clear.
At the end of the day, you have a dinky
little tin box.
It's going to feel a bit mad.
It's a cool build, though.
But it's just that it felt, I think,
we've all probably seen the same Instagram
video, which doesn't show much.
It doesn't say much about it.
I love when that happens.
You get it in other countries a lot where it
might be known locally, but people don't tend to care.
People just go, "Yeah, that was a V12 swap
Fiesta by the way."
and everyone here sees it and goes,
"Whoa, hold on, I need more information on that."
And they're like, "Nah, it's just,
that's what Derek throws."
I'd love to know what you're smoking,
because I get put in the engine in,
that's like a somewhat normal list,
though.
It's a foot, it's the interior.
The interior, who thought, who went,
"Oh, yes, it's lovely, but it would look
great with Maserati here."
Do you know what that probably was?
It was probably a crashed Maserati and they
went, "Right, well, I've got the engine,
I might as well stick this in."
It stuck out and it went, "I've got an interior.
Surely we're sticking that into it."
Surely you've got a modification,
you've got to make that interior to fit it in a clear.
Yeah, but some people, that is,
that's what gets some people off.
That's what lost their lust.
That's their lust, yes, slough.
And then they drive it and they think this is gluttonous.
Lovely.
Here we go, a real, a wrathful podcast going back.
We really do, it's a deadly sins themed podcast today.
Today is 8 p.m.
It's 'cause it's not 8 some,
it's 94, that's why.
What's that then?
No idea.
Just made up.
Yeah, we're having shins.
We've had a long day today, so it's a bit to be.
It is currently five to eight.
And we've been going today.
Is it another kind of standard night or five day?
I think it's been longer than that.
A start at nine, finish up a five.
Come on, I'm gonna have five.
Phew, had our lunch break in the middle.
It didn't really, it's better than that.
People don't like this anymore.
We ordered it today, we didn't have a lunch break.
Yeah, we did it.
We did it, we did it, we didn't have time.
Dr.
Carkey's, Ben.
Oh, why not, do you know who that is?
That's my stage name.
That's your magic, Mike's name.
Dr.
Carkey's.
Yeah, that's my stage name.
Just Carkey trousers, yeah.
Maybe at the first time then.
Ben rips them off from the front.
I wanna talk about Dr.
Carkey.
Who's Dr.
Carkey?
Ben, do you know who this is?
I mean, he's usually in the rear of your mirror.
Is he's that?
Well, he would be if I saw him.
Is that someone who comes in and fix your car?
No.
The kind of dips S character.
Have you not seen a roundabout,
yes.
Have you not seen a roundabout the local area
and further afield?
Just random old cars that are liveryed up with Dr.
Carkey's.
No.
I'm not very observant.
I was very observant.
And I think you two have been smoking from
the same pipe.
No, Ben is not very observant.
He misses many things and doesn't know stuff.
So you're actually, you know what,
you're excluded.
Name one thing I don't know.
Dr.
Carkey's.
He didn't know the seven deadly sins.
Yep.
Thanks.
I started that whole conversation.
You're welcome for that conversation.
Sloth Benjamin.
Dr.
Carkey's, now it came to our attention.
We were on our way back.
We were picking a car up or whatever.
And we just saw Dr.
Carkey's there.
And I've seen so many Dr.
Carkey's cars.
So they do this.
Other companies do this.
It's not that much of a new thing,
but an old thing really, where they just buy
a car and they just stick it at the side of
the road and go, "That's my advert.
Live right now."
I don't know what the sort of legal thing is
here, because obviously it depends where you
park it and whatever else.
But this was, I think it was a Mark V Golf.
We thought, "Is that going to be Emoteed?"
We ran the plate on it.
And it literally ran out that day.
It ran out that day.
But I thought that they obviously had it
there for God.
That golf's been there for a while.
Yeah, for months, months and months.
But do they keep emoteing them?
Yeah.
Because they shouldn't be on the road if they're not.
Do you still have it?
Do you still have the plate somewhere?
You don't remember it.
I mean, it will still be that way.
Yeah, we'll have to go just go and get it tomorrow.
But we checked, it's taxed.
So someone's taxing and I would assume
ensuring these cars.
I guess you legally would have to.
Exactly.
So you are, you have a cost of this.
Like it's not like free advertising.
You have to go out and buy a car or get it PX to you.
Then tax it, ensure it, emote it.
Yeah, it could be quite a long advertising car.
Yeah.
You just leave somewhere.
But like where do you leave it?
I'd feel scared.
Where would you leave it?
Number one price.
Because you leave it, it'd get towed the next
day and you'd never know.
What do you think would maximize advertising space?
Ooh, what do you get, Laurie?
No, no, where?
Oh, where?
In the middle of a crossroad.
But just a normal one in here.
But it's broken.
I do that trick where it's, I'd just have hazards on.
It'd be hooked up to 25 leisure batteries in the boot.
And I put some fake legs under it.
Oh yeah, and then I'll,
He's trying to fit.
Anytime someone walks up like a home alone
traps off, I think it goes, I'll be all right
in a minute.
Just need to fix this, mate.
You've been there six months.
Yeah, I'll be all right in a minute.
Like, I'll just listen to the podcast.
I'll listen to Laurie's.
Have you heard it?
You can get it on Spotify, it's there now.
I would like to do the side of the motorway.
'Cause I've seen that a few times.
I've just old schooled in it.
Yeah, that's just, that's, you need to
upgrade your thinking.
I think it's effective.
Here's where everyone's driving past and
bored out their mind.
Here's my issue with that.
You're going too fast.
Even at 70, which we're all doing,
obviously.
You can't any time I see one of those radiator blories.
They're always for radiators for some reason.
It says radiators or something.
And then below it, it just says,
(indistinct) And then you've gone,
I can't, I don't know where that is.
I don't know what the point of it was.
Are you?
It's gone.
You're not going to turn around.
No, but I also use it as reference points of
where I am.
So there's one on them for whether turning
the junction to bridge end is in Wales.
And there's a big sign, I go,
oh, I'm next to the next junction.
And then I know, I keep looking at it.
I don't know what the brand is.
But next, they're going to get rid of that at some point.
And you're just going to end up in Cardiff.
That is, when it's stopped early.
Depends which way you'd be going,
doesn't it?
Yeah.
Or they'll move it in junction.
You're going to end up in Rexham then.
You're going to be all--
That would be a detail.
All the way I got, there's an LLF one on the M40.
M40--
I think M40--
Is that the place you can win on?
That was the one.
Good thing, Benjamin.
Also, one of the same, I think I told this.
I think I told it on the stage at Shedfest.
I broke down on the way to Shedfest.
And I had to get picked up by a recovery track.
And the guy in the recovery,
I mean, again, I'm not expecting him to know
who I am.
But we know with car stuff, and sometimes
when it's related to that, they will know--
Well, it's pride.
And this guy, the recovery driver,
with him again on the back, me,
my girlfriend, and him in there,
I'm already pretty angry and sad that I'm
missing out on Shedfest and the car's broken.
And he just looked at the LLF and he's like,
"Ah, my arm's drunk, that's giveaways.
"It's not, doesn't he?"
Yeah, he does really well on YouTube.
I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, he does."
He's got mine again, pissing brake fluid out
on the back.
So is everyone knows my arm's drunk?
Like everyone knows my arm's drunk?
It is mad.
Anytime I have any conversation with a new
person and they go, "What'd you do?"
I go, "YouTube," and they go,
"That's all that, my arm's drunk,
that does."
And I'm like, "Yep."
I had two kids ask me that question.
I was in the Revuelto, I parked it out and
these two kids were there and they were like,
"What I did for a living, essentially."
Nice.
I told them about the channel and they went,
"Oh, do you know my arm's strong?"
I was like, "No."
He's much more successful than we are.
But everyone that I've had conversation with
people who aren't into cars,
I know, and they go, "Yeah, no,
there's that guy on YouTube."
The second they say that, I'm like,
"Get my arm's strong, it's got my arm's strong."
It's got my arm's strong.
Matthew.
I go, "Is he called Matt?"
He's called Matt.
He's called Matt.
Isn't he?
And then, that'll be us one day.
You're Ben, you're Envy.
Not Envy.
I think it's healthy to have a bit of Envy.
Jealousy is wrong, Envy is okay.
There you go, very nice.
It helps you fireself up.
Drive.
Termination.
It's not for all of us to do Getty.
Right, what we got next?
Ben.
Hello.
Ben's first news of this podcast.
I haven't got any help.
Oh no, you little more.
Ben, you put in
here, but days ago, Range Rover GT.
There he is, Ben, let's
talk about Range Rover GT.
Oh yeah.
Do you see this?
No, I'd like you to tell me about it.
So Range Rover have an announce that they are releasing.
What is effectively, it's not a car.
They claim it's like--
God, I'm interested in this news,
Ben, let's carry on.
No, it's a car, but it's--
Oh, big car.
Oh, right.
But in a little Range Rover's SUVs,
they claim that it's like a low-down Range
Rover, but it's kind of the same.
It's a bit lower down.
Is it like a Velar?
No, it's more like a--
It's more like a--
It's more like a--
It's more like a--
It's more like a--
It's more like a--
A bit like a Polestar 2 Stipesback.
Oh no, so kind of like an Evoque?
I can't cross it.
No, it's more like a big Range Rover,
but sleep.
But low-down sleep.
Okay, okay.
30:25 Range Rover GT Concept News
Think of a Range Rover, right?
If it was a GT car.
Yeah.
So it's kind of like a long coupe.
It's not a coupe
though, as far as I'm aware,
but we'll go to the newsroom.
Well, Ben in the newsroom, reporting live.
I haven't really fully shown it.
Did you hear that?
Did you hear how that started?
I don't really, they haven't actually shown
it yet, so I can't--
But they haven't, I don't think.
Range Rover, I'm gonna show this,
look, there might be an overlay.
They're probably won't be.
They might not.
That's, oh, that's horrible.
No, man.
Range Rover, You've had it, Sust.
You've only ever made, you've had a couple,
you know, you have the evoked and stuff,
but look, you made car made of Range Rover.
You literally started the idea of it,
of SUVs.
He went, here's the first one,
gonna go for a while.
He's a P38, it's basically just a 90s version
of it, everyone went, cool.
It's an L32, everyone went, fantastic,
you've done that really nicely.
L405, all right, in there we have the evoked somewhere.
Hey, you know, we all gotta make money some cars.
especially.
Exactly, we gotta make money sometimes.
L405, L460, you still got the idea,
you didn't go, what if we make it an NPV?
Don't do, don't stop.
Also, what you have there is a USP.
It's your thing.
But my question is, and this could be
fabrication, but my first thought was,
is that a way of also the new Jag things coming out?
This is why I was in based on the same
platform they've gone, but no one's bugging
up by that thing.
That's why I was just thinking based on the
new EMA platform.
That's quite a good point, isn't it?
It's not true.
You said that like you knew what that was.
No, I have no idea.
It's also a cat.
It's also a electric.
Yeah, and yeah.
It's all electric.
Now, I would like to know this,
and I'm sure there are some people that know more.
Is the reason electric cars still have fully
electric cars, like ground up electric cars,
still have engine spaced front ends for crash
reasons and legality reasons?
Or is it because people won't buy ones that
look like well?
Why can't nobody be built like a lorry,
an English lorry?
A UK lorry that's affected me.
You know the Mercedes?
Okay.
The Mercedes EQS they bought out.
Yeah, which you have its own.
And they, I remember reading about the design
at the time, and they said that they designed
it to be electric car.
So it's the front end.
It's a saloon, but the front end of it is a
lot shorter, a lot stubbier.
Evan hated it, because it looks,
it looks stupid.
And now I assume that it's because if you
release a bubble car, look at our thing,
people don't buy it.
Well, because remember when the Model S Tesla
first came out, said, do you not remember how
the first Model S has that black grill at the front?
Is they literally said, it needs to look like
a car, even though it's electric,
we need people to look at it and go,
oh, I know what that is.
Yeah, that's a car, it needs a big radiator
grill, it needs an opening.
So it needs, it needs that.
And then later on when people get used to it,
we can get rid of it, which is why it's gone.
So that makes sense.
What does the perfect form of electric,
have we seen that yet?
We can do away with with the societal norms
that we are used to with cars and go,
this car is round.
Well, have you seen have you seen the new
Tesla, Ben was it called CyberCab,
I think is what it's called?
Yeah.
Ben could I get you to look at that up
quickly, while I stall for time?
Yeah, I have actually seen it.
So the Hyper SuperCab is a ball.
So, but what it is, is Tesla's now released a
car that's fully autonomous,
you don't get to drive it.
Autonomous.
Autonomous.
What do you think I said?
I don't know, I was thinking like atomic.
Mr.
Tumbus.
What it is, is a car that is,
here he is, there he is.
On screen maybe.
No, it looks a bit weird, but it is.
So I think he said something like $35,000.
A very low amount of money, but the photo of
the interior, the photo of the interior is
just, it's got no steering wheel,
no pedals, no nothing, but it's got seats,
they're like long ass, what do you call this,
this is what we're
sitting on, there's a sofa, that's weird.
It's like a chaise long.
But it's kind of like that.
It's kind of like a chaise long where it's
like a, you can stretch out and then a huge vehicle.
No steering, I was like, oh,
you've said photo autonomous.
That's exactly it.
But it's just got a screen in the middle.
You just make it bigger, wouldn't you?
Now, here's my thought, right?
I actually like, I like electric cars being
the same shape as petrol cars.
Now when they take, they have an electric,
a petrol car platform and they put an
electric motor in the front,
that's stupid.
Right.
Right.
But like a Tesla, for example,
where you have a front trunk and you have a
rear one, what would you call that?
It's like a front.
Or a fruit in this country.
I like that.
Because it still looks like a car.
It doesn't look like a weird Mercedes EQS thing.
And we get to put more shopping in it.
That's a good shell.
Thanks.
But they never do have that much storage space.
Supposedly that Tesla thing is mad big in the back.
Just like Ben.
What's all that?
Whenever I see an electric car,
I think, well, you must have,
like, you have myself.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Speaking of that, that thing must have oodles of space.
Now I open the bonnet and it's like,
no, here's some plastic trim and oh,
here's a thimble.
Also that thimble has your child around it
and a stuff.
Also a, all of the electric cars front end
boots, fruits and shoots that all have,
they, you open them up and not only are they
small, but they are kind of,
they're worse than supercars where they're
shaped like a V.
Yeah.
So you can't actually fit, unless it fits in
the bottom, you know, maybe,
maybe a four
sheet of paper.
Yeah.
It will not sit in there.
But it's because they'll say,
hey, it could fit 85 liters in it.
Yeah, I know.
If I fill it up with water, yeah.
But nothing's shaped like this.
Well, so where am I ever carrying 85 liters of water?
So here is where you store your cluttered cream.
Loose?
That brings us back to the preamble where we
talk about rice pudding.
We discussed more rice pudding.
It's just a great thing.
So you keep going on about strawberry rice
pudding, but I'll be honest,
I think I like it.
I like it.
Oh, yeah.
Nah, 'cause it's jam in rice pudding.
I just like the raw.
Yeah, I just like rice pudding.
Miller rice pudding.
Even the vanilla that's a custard one,
I think that's that.
One was a bit weird.
I like raspberry jam more than strawberry jam.
Oh, that's disgusting.
Yeah.
I really don't like it.
I know that about you now.
Now, I know why you said a little cream,
'cause you were thinking about that scone you
had the other day.
Well, I was mentioning the scone you had the other day.
Ben, you're, this is getting far too far away
from cars, mate.
What are you doing?
I think people want to hear about it.
I don't want to hear anything.
Will came into the unit and he was sat over
there and he was, I looked at him and I was
like, "Oh, he's eating a scone."
And I looked down and he had two very small
pots, one with jam, one with cream.
It was also in a small takeaway box.
It really annoyed me because I know,
if I'd done that, the abuse that I would have
got for that.
Ben, are you a scone or a scone?
I must go.
Will?
Scone.
Which one is the posh one?
Is it scone?
I say scone, but I believe it's scone because
you're scone.
You have to move your mouth left.
What's a car word that said posh or not posh?
Portion Porsche?
Transit.
I've heard transit said transit.
You're on local private school correspondence.
You should know how these are said.
Okay, now I'll take that fair
enough.
But I would put you in that same category with me.
No, that's fair.
But what I mean is that you go to school
with you.
Fair.
Same room.
Thanks for doxing my school.
I agree in terms of life, but I never experienced that.
I
didn't have that.
It was just the area.
So please, what
would
you like?
Well, that'd be Lambo.
Oh, it is.
Yeah.
Oh, so it's abbreviate like as Rangie.
Well, I mean, that's, you know,
Chugsies out in the Lambo.
Yeah.
In the Rari.
The whole thing is short, it's,
you're in clarm, not clapper.
I don't think Rari is.
I think Rari is a bit more, um,
maybe in the Fezzar.
Rari's a little bit more, yeah,
it is.
No, but I think Rari's a bit more hip-hop.
That's what I mean.
It's a bit more urban.
It's the hip-hop, then the really posh people
take and then they go.
No, but usually if they get it wrong,
they don't get it wrong.
They don't get it.
That's the Fezzar.
Yeah, you'd be in the Porsche.
What's Porsche?
I think you'd just be in the Porsche.
Porsche?
Porsche?
No, 'cause they wouldn't go for the Porsche.
Range Rover's rangey.
Yeah, Daddy in the rangey.
Audi.
Landy.
And, yeah, Landy, of course.
Yeah, Audi, you'd just be in the Audi.
I suppose the car rang all that.
No, you know what it is?
Every, no matter what model it is,
it's an Audi.
An A3 will never be called an A3,
it's just my Audi.
It's, I'm getting in the Audi,
not the car.
No, yeah.
BMW can't, all of their nicknames are fairly street.
Yeah, a BM or a Beamer.
The Beamer, though, feels a little bit.
The Beamer's a bit, John, it's got the ears of it.
The B.M.
feels like.
I'm thinking 420 Ivert.
Yeah.
Or jumping the B.M.
Yeah, that could, that could go.
That could work.
Yeah.
No, you said it like that.
Well, the car brands are the Skoda.
I don't think they'd even say it.
Skoda.
They'd go...
Is that a wine?
Is that a Czech wine?
What's the vintage on?
I think I went there last year on holiday.
Skoda's fantastic this time of year.
Honestly, I ski in Skoda.
Or Bentley.
Benders.
I think they are proper enough that they
believe it should be said, "Bully."
That's a piece of
English heritage.
Some of Rolls-Royce should be in the Bentley.
Because it's a Rolls.
But like, is that, is it posh to say Rolls?
I don't know.
I can't picture a book with it.
I think you take the Rolls.
I'm taking the Royce or the roller.
I bet you take the Royce.
I don't know if anybody else does.
What about, what are the
brands there?
I'm sure, we might have gone through them all.
Pagani.
Out of the paggars, mate.
You own paggars on Dini.
Mate, you haven't taken Horatio out for a Bully spin.
The paggars is...
No, no, me and Miserini, we work hard this weekend.
Oh, Giotto.
There are probably a lot of
listed going...
A Mazarati and Mazar.
I think that another
one, I think that's one, they go full.
They're saying Mazarati.
Renault and the Levante.
No, they don't say Renault.
No, I just don't think they'll,
I think they go.
No.
No, no.
Is that the people moving house for me?
That's the van they're driving,
is it?
Not even a transit, bloody.
hell.
Christ.
Please let us know in the comments which are
the poshest car names we'll go through some next week.
Nicknames or otherwise, or mispronounce,
not mispronounce, yes.
Or ones you've heard.
If you've heard some, that'd be good.
Make it cringy.
I don't make it up either.
I don't like it.
I already don't like it.
No, the paggars.
That's great.
That's all is now in an era of words.
The paggars are.
Was it the Zondino?
Zondino.
Absolute flying in the Zondini.
Just smashing the interior of the Zondini.
Sorry, the paggars.
Sorry.
Ben, it's not news.
And we're going to know about it,
but you've put it
42:13 Nick Mason's McLaren F1 GTR Auction
in.
Nick Mason's F1 GTR for sale.
What's that?
We were discussing that Nick Mason's F1 GTR
is for sale.
What F1?
So Nick Mason is the drummer of the famous
band Pink Floyd.
And he's got Formula One car.
He has a many cars.
A many cars.
He does have a great many cars.
And he has a McLaren F1 GTR.
No, I don't.
Again, well, the resident McLaren F1 nerd is here.
It's an art thing.
But it's gone.
Yeah.
It's the only public or sold car that was in
the pop art livery.
There was a, the first car, a chassis one art
was in the gray with the orange stripes GTR.
This one is in the yellow and red rope,
pulled up Ronald McDonald's.
It is Ronald McDonald, but somehow it works
on that car.
It looks great.
It's fantastic.
And it's, you know, so, but what's he selling it for?
Well, what's he, what's he?
He's throwing up something to come up for sale.
But I don't want to sell this.
Yeah.
But I've seen something I couldn't say no to.
So the F1 is going to have to go first to see Will buy.
Yeah.
True.
No test drives unless you can prove insurance.
It's being sold at Monterey car week,
RMSotheby's in Monterey at the RMSotheby's
auction in Monterey in Monterey,
America, California.
Who will be there?
The gang.
We're going to be there.
We're going to be there.
I have to be out of the auction that would be cool.
But we'll try and work out this.
Just whether I get a bit of that one.
No, no.
I want to be at that one.
Well, you can phone in.
Yeah.
I can bid in.
We'll get you in on Facebook.
Well, of course.
I mean, you're one of the high rollers.
Are you thinking of just dropping a little?
Because it's not a sealed bid either.
Well, no, Ben, here's a sealed bid.
I should come work out.
I'm asking you.
I know that there is an estimate on there.
Yeah.
I would like you to put your sealed bid in
right now of what you think it's going to be.
Well, I've got to pay.
Yeah.
I can't.
Why?
I don't have the money that they're wanting for that.
No, no.
But what would you, what would you?
Well, I'd offer.
But realistically.
Now, I know what I am.
I don't want to admit it.
I'm that guy at an auction that gets bullied
by the auctioneer people.
They go, Sir, you didn't come all the way to
Monterey to miss out on the McLaren F1 GTI.
It's Nick Mason, your favorite band.
You didn't come all this way to miss out for $85 million.
See, there's the one that's the actual
auctioneer that's doing that.
But then there's the person that actually
goes up and speaks to them.
But I always like to think they'll often go,
"You're gonna buy this."
"You're gonna buy this."
"You're gonna buy this."
"I thought they would be a bit more
aggressive because no one's not gonna hear them."
"Just going stupid, you're stupid."
"I don't get to own it."
"I didn't get it at a bottom.
The man next to me got it."
"That's what worried me because I started on."
"They've seen more potential than him."
"Yeah."
"So he was over there, but I couldn't hear
what they were saying."
"Come on."
"Come on, mate, you're gonna lose to him."
"You won't."
"Look at that idiot over there."
"You won't buy the car."
"That would get me."
"Come on."
"You won't, guys, shut it down.
He's not gonna do it."
"You've got a bit on it."
"The classic car thing where you go."
"Listen, if you can't afford it,
mate, that's fine."
"I would put in a bid."
"We've got someone coming right after you."
"If you don't do this, I'll have to go."
"I've got one other to see on the weekends."
"The estimation is 35mm."
"Okay, so you've seen it as well."
"So, for me, I'd have to be 35mm."
"You think that's what you're just gonna go and reserve?"
"Because they're telling me,
listen, they're the experts."
"You tell me, I'll put a little bid in."
"I'll be 35mm."
"I'm gonna say."
"But I want to meet Nick Mason."
"Okay."
"Unrelated to the car?"
"As part of it."
"What do you want to do to him?"
"Oh, to buy it, you want..."
"I want to meet him."
"I thought you just met in general."
"You're just like, 'Hey, I just want to meet
him.'" "I like my mother, I guess,
in general."
"But like, what do you want to do with him?"
"When you get them?"
"Nothing."
"You just want to pay to meet him and go,
'Hello.'" "Also, pay 35 million dollars to go."
"Hi, mate, I just want to say hi."
"No, big fan."
"Anyway, you have to go."
"I probably get him to the side."
"I just put the keys in the car,
bro."
"Put the money in the bag."
"I want to get a thought of him."
"Sure."
"I probably want to get a sign like an album."
"Okay, do you want him to sign the car?"
"No."
"No, I just paid for that mille for that."
"That's a good one."
"Oh, get off my car."
"But I want that as part of it."
"I'm saying it goes above that."
"I think so."
"I think that the big, willy wanglers of
Monterey Car Week will certainly win."
"That is what we're called."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah."
"Or certainly get things swinging."
"Yeah."
"Because we saw things go a little bit mad last year."
"It's mental."
"So, I'm going to say it."
"You think the four?"
"Fourty four."
"Mounds."
"Oh, yes."
"Fourty four million dollars."
"It would be crazy."
"I think it's
your..."
"I think it's your..."
"You'd pay."
"No."
"But then why?"
"I don't have your budget."
"I can't reach into the..."
"What do you actually think it's going to say?"
"I think it will go for 39 and a half."
"Okay."
"I think it's going to be 40."
"Like, I'm like just beginning of 40.
40 mil."
"Well, say plus fees, too."
"You've been 40 mil and then they go."
"Right then."
"Surely they must."
"Come over here and famous."
"Well, if you do that, do they do what they do?"
"Well, if you did that with this,
you walk over to a desk and they give you
basically a voice, please pay for your hair,
right this is what you pay."
"You're 50 million pounds."
"What?"
"I was joking."
"I left my wallet.
Do you
mind if I just go in?
I'm going to go grab that in a minute."
"I believe it's the day before we leave."
"Yes."
"I'd love to be there."
"We'll go home in it."
"Yes, I want to drive before we leave."
"Also, if any, we said this before,
but if any, Creamers are going to be there at
Monterey Car Week, we may look to drive some
Creamers cars."
"So shoot us at the M, do it to cars,
rule everything around."
"She's our Instagram, by the way."
"Not many people know we have that.
We have an Instagram."
"Not much gets put on it."
"We put stuff on it every now and then.
We're going to start uploading photos of Ben more often."
"Welcome to."
"Nudes."
"If it's a follow, it's just went pink."
"I don't know how you would..."
"Follow us just dropped, I wouldn't know."
"We've got Ben feet picks coming soon."
"Not that one guy."
"No."
"Still wearing the shoes."
"We've got to let him sniff those blazers,
bro."
"Now, the shoes called blazers is that what
you're saying?"
"He's only like blazers."
"Okay, lovely."
"I'll assume they're getting rid of them like they are."
"Because they are."
"That guy is going to be digging through the rubbish."
"They might burn."
"They actually have their own voice now."
"They have a massive hold on the side of one of them."
"Hey Ben."
"I like that you've followed my footsteps on
treating shoes."
"Yeah, also, but the best part is that your
shoes you're wearing now, which people who
are listening can't see, they look pretty
mashed up, but Edwin has had these six or about."
"What we got, mate?"
"We have."
"We need to attack Ben for a little while."
"Oh, okay."
"So, who Ben, you're ever famous for being
our new anchor."
"Minus the W."
"And you
are pretty poor at it, let's admit."
"I try."
"You're
pretty shocking at the news."
"You try always."
"You know what's going on, just not any of the details."
"I'm doing it when it happened."
"You are why it happened."
"I'm a gossipper."
"You?"
"You swivelled us recently."
"You did."
"I did, yeah."
"You
did."
"You did."
"And I threw that one back at you."
"And
I can't remember your response,
but you didn't correct
anything."
"We have to find out that cars are fully
electric."
"Yeah, fair."
"We made sense."
"We're there
going."
"I just got a four cylinder and that weird."
"Because
also, didn't I read, I read the net car show
thing and it
was talking about flux capacitors in there."
"Should have known from me."
"We should have known better."
"But I still think that our head of news,
the bike has to stop somewhere."
"Unfortunately, Ben, we're going to have to
let you go."
"However, we will be hiring you back as head
of head of news."
"Wow, I've got promotion."
"You are having a promotion."
"You've really messed up."
"It was quite an embarrassing one,
but that also makes sense because the whole
thing was that they were obscene stats.
I was like, how are you getting that?"
"It's a four cylinder."
"It does make sense."
"And now I realize that it's all just fake."
"That's boring."
"You heard it here third."
"You've heard it here wrong third."
"Many weeks later, we have rectified that."
"Yeah, a little wrong."
"I think we've done nicely on that one."
"But listen again, once again,
if you get your news from the cream podcast,
do something wrong."
"It's why you come to us."
"It's why you come to us."
"It's why we come to Ben."
"Oh no."
"Well, we've got the chance to be fine."
"You've put in here the Ferrari California manual."
"Hey, we did the Collecting Cars,
our second episode on the Collecting Cars
channel where we looked around a load of cars
and we said at one point that the F430 is the
last V8 manual Ferrari and there was some,
there was some, actually in the comments,
but do you know what?
It
50:38 Ferrari California Manual Rarity Discussion
was welcomed because it was a fact that I had
forgotten about the last, the F430 was the
last kind of mass produced manual.
I think there was a thousand,
1500, I think total, something like that,
F430 manuals, but after that,
there was the California, the Ferrari
California and three were built,
some sources say three, some say six,
but single digits, then your Ferrari
Californians were built.
That's mad.
Also, someone out there has a gated manual Cali.
And supposedly one of them was crashed,
so there is some sources that say there are two left.
You have the most sought after,
least sought after Ferrari.
That's got to pop up in like 30 years and be
the most ridiculously expensive car.
Because it's a car that, no,
realistically, who cares about the California?
I'm fairly sure a California is a dual car.
It was, 'cause I did some research on it after.
That was their big thing.
The first of our dual clutch transmission,
this is where this is our modern age automatic.
So guys, look at the automatic.
And they went, it's so weird for them to
have, I know a DCT is kind of technically a
manual anyway, but it's not like the single clutch.
'Cause lots of the single clutch Ferraris,
their gearboxes are manual gearboxes,
that's why people convert them.
So it makes sense to have a manual and a sort
of, what do you call it, F1 option.
But that is like, that's just a totally different option.
I can't think of many others where they might
have had-- No, the whole-- The whole thing is
like a 599, the 430, they would have all had
a, but they're the sort of single clutch manual type.
I think the makes no sense to me is 'cause I
found a press release thing that went to the
dealers at Ferrari when it came out saying,
you can now option this car with a manual gearbox.
No one clearly, they just didn't shout about it.
They just said it in secret.
They went through all of the rigmarole of
setting it up as a manual and then went,
I went, what's that, sorry?
Then went, don't worry about it.
What gearbox you want?
Is there a choice?
Don't worry.
No, no, don't worry about it.
So, and then it was dropped a year or two later.
I feel like California's such a way.
Given at that time, no one was buying manuals.
Yeah.
And on the California in particular,
who the hell is buying a manual?
A car that was famously bought literally as an addition.
It was a,
Yeah.
I buy this for my partner or my spouse or Ferrari.
Sorry, Ferrari.
Yeah.
This is my cruising around the street Ferrari.
I do not want to be blipping down the ship.
No.
No one will be healing and towing in it.
It's just a whack.
It's, yeah.
But I want to, who out there?
Who's got it?
It's a crazy one.
There has to be a creamer that's seen one.
Yeah.
I think someone knows something about something.
Don't say it with words.
No.
Do it with pictures.
Speak it with, you know, with,
with Roth.
Thank you, man.
Thank you, man.
Speaking of manual and supercar things,
I heard a rumor.
I read a rumor.
I've seen a rumor that McLaren is absolutely on fire.
Ben, you should have heard about this.
Gossip for me.
It kind of is gossip at the moment realistically.
But McLaren, apparently, I've heard,
apparently, possibly making cars,
making cars.
Go away, nah.
You're joking.
A manual.
They are apparently thinking about or
potentially looking at making something
manual, sort of smaller, lower power.
Yeah.
Manual, that makes sense to me.
Do you know what?
The moment you said that, my brain thought of
like a 540C manual, that would be great.
But like almost like Lotus Plus.
Oh, so even less--
I don't know how, there are like no details,
but I would assume it would be less power than usual.
But I think it would be more limited run.
But in my head, Karen made a kind of four to
500 horsepower, maybe a tiny bit more.
I really wanted to lightweight manual.
So it feels a bit more like old school
McLaren type type, whatever.
It's sort of like ethos of McLaren F1,
but in a sort of monorooka.
That would be great.
I'd like that.
That would be great.
But that was just a brief aside.
I saw it again.
It was a random Facebook piece of me.
Also, no info.
Creamers will know, let us know if you do
know, and we won't say anything until we can.
We won't.
We just wanna know because we're nerds.
We won't say anything.
Ben, 'cause he will, he likes rumors.
Ben will spread that rumor and he will feed
it back to Denza, his controlling party.
And that's the gluttony folks.
We have, there's a new cream listener.
This is crazy.
So if
54:46 New Cream Listener and Song Maker
you don't know, and you should really,
if you've got to this podcast,
Richard Porter, who is the man who is
responsible for writing much of Top Gear,
The Grand Tour and the great many other
things, also is now our chief song maker.
Yeah, I got another email from him,
which continues the tradition of me never
responding to his emails and just speaking
about the podcast.
On Thursday, he said, "Laurie's is on the
loose with a link to his bandcamp."
And then it says, "Should be up on Spotify,
Apple Music, et cetera, tomorrow."
So you may now go and stream,
"Laurie's" on there.
And he put that on his Twitter.
I think you've got the screenshot.
You put it on Twitter.
There will be a screenshot that we will
endeavor to put on the screen.
I'll read it out.
And he said, "It's available,
blah, blah, blah.
Here it is."
"Laurie's James May responded."
It was brief.
Yeah, he just said, "I liked it."
Full stop.
Now, Ben, Ben's got a lovely little smile on this phone.
I've got it.
Very happy.
How did you feel that?
I was, 'cause you put this, you put the
screenshot in the podcast chat,
but I didn't see it first.
I went into the podcast chat to put somebody
else in, probably some bollocks about,
I think.
Probably, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
And I read that and I was like,
"No way."
And I called my girlfriend in the room and we
were both like, "No way."
And then--
I said it's my mom.
And everyone was like, "Yeah,
James May liked it, liked it."
James May's heard just all so Laurie's.
Yeah, and you say that I've been naked in just socks.
And it's a fair question.
You know what?
I think, I meant to say this before,
but it makes you think.
It's one of those songs that makes you think.
I bet he has.
Oh, sure he has.
Sure he has.
Sure he has.
Everyone has.
Big, big new disc.
It's James May.
Right, I'm not coming on the podcast now.
I would have considered it, I'm not now.
And I'm not going.
But shout out to James May.
Two-thirds of the trio, TDC have touched
since we started the whole thing.
Clients and we're coming for you.
I wasn't there for Richard though.
No, one of my bass regrets.
Sad for you.
The edit.
Yeah, we could get Richard.
I think we get all three of them.
I never get a clark.
On a TV show about cars.
I think we'll get them in for a round table.
Oh, okay.
And we'll sit, but we'll sit in between them.
Yeah, and then whatever they say,
whatever useful piece of information they
say, we interject it with some bullshit.
So they say something about an old story,
and we go, have you heard McLaren might make this?
(laughing) And they go, really,
we go, no idea.
No, no, have you heard Laurie's?
Tell me, what do you think about tapioca?
Do you, you know, Laurie, you know,
tractors?
It was a scene with a knight.
A headlight, it's so total.
What is this?
It's by sale of the knight.
Why were they here?
(laughing)
Jake, me and the podcast would be good.
No, they would be good.
Any of the, I know you're all listening.
I said, my first question of the whole
podcast will be Ben.
Do you remember our cheese?
Cheese.
Or?
Cheese or?
I don't know.
Cheese or beans?
Beans?
Yeah, why beans?
This guy don't know, James Mayfish.
Finally does the cheese.
You're embarrassing yourself,
Ben.
You just sit yourself out on this one.
(laughing)
Right, but yeah, James May, a creamer,
a creamer at heart.
Yeah, maybe not a creamer yet.
No.
But he is aware, he has to be aware,
or he doesn't know it's a podcast.
He just thinks we're just musical artists.
We don't know who this band is.
I'd love to know if he listened to it again.
If he was, I don't know, he went to make
himself a cheese sandwich, and was just in
there going, all right, all right.
It gets in your head.
'Cause it's in your head, it's a very catchy
song, though, yeah.
I would just like rap box song about Peter
Strander, it gets in your head and it stays in there.
Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.
That's the best.
Will keeps doing that right out of the link.
Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.
Shall we end with a forum, a shorter one this
evening, but it is now coming up to half
night, half eight.
And would you like to just put your share of
what you're gonna do after podcast?
I can't say it, 'cause I can't say that.
Don't say what car, let's say what you're doing.
No, okay, I'm gonna play a game box.
And Will.
And Will's gonna do a starter.
I have to do a starter motor,
which is apparently a three hour job on a good day.
Oh God.
Yeah, what we got, Ben, speak the truth.
You look sad.
Thanks, man.
Carry on.
You know, happy.
I have a forum here from Archie Smith on Instagram.
Great name.
Hello, Ben, I have a forum question.
This winter will be the first time that I'm
thinking about putting my car in storage to
keep it fresh from salt and grime on the
roads for summers to come.
Is there anything that you need to do before
you put a car into storage to get it ready,
like a triple charger, et cetera?
Love the podcast, makes my Thursday every week.
Very nice.
Can you set a car?
59:31 Forum Question: Car Storage Tips
No.
First...
There's a photo of a golf.
An R32.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
A mount five.
A three-door, it's black.
Seats.
Brogue.
So it's all fancy seats and they look standard.
Is it manual or DSP?
Can you get the plate up and we'll check it?
Reminds me.
I'm missing two digits of the plate.
All right, I'll get work on it.
Also, when it started with about winter,
I thought it was gonna be one of our bets,
if I want to talk about it.
So, okay, so storing a car for winter,
he said he had has a garage,
right?
He's gonna put it in the storage.
Okay, so he is not saying where?
No, so to be honest, the biggest step of
putting a car away for the winter is that it is enclosed.
If I'm honest, that's the whole,
that's the biggest thing that I think.
You can kind of lose everything else,
as long as it's not in direct.
What would you call that?
It's not open to the elements.
That's exactly it, thank you.
Exposed to the elements.
Exposed to the elements of Ben,
a glutton for punishment.
Ben at night when he's only wearing socks.
No, no, Ben wasn't listening there,
so he kind of got in there halfway.
That, what I would say, that is the biggest
part, is so that it's not exposed to that.
You can put them in outdoor bubbles and that
sort of stuff.
It's just better to find--
Just look way too sci-fi though.
To be sat on hard ground as well is a good thing.
Not having it outside on gravel or grass,
things at the ground.
Oh, grass and no go.
Yeah, grass bad.
So, yeah, the first thing, if you've got a
garage, cool, good first step.
I've seen a lot of people who like they drain
their oils and things for dry storage.
Don't worry about that.
It's fine.
Fuel, if you're gonna leave it for more than
I'd say six months, I would consider having
not much fuel or draining it or giving it a
big drive beforehand and putting away with
not much fuel because fuel can varnish over time.
It won't do it over six months.
It will take years for that,
but just better to do that.
I would consider, if I was being smart,
the little cups that go on the wheel and keep
them a little bit round.
No flat spots.
'Cause flat spots are a big thing that will
happen on tires when you leave them for some time.
Some people say you can also deflate tires
not fully, but turn them out.
I always just burn out afterwards.
It re-rounds them quite nicely.
I've got a sort of manual lathe.
I made this mistake last year 'cause I had
the S2000 storage for a bit and I just put it in storage.
I didn't clean it before, which was bad.
You should do that, especially on that sort of car.
But you should clean it just so it's nice and
then put a indoor cover over it.
Not one that traps stuff, right?
One that just stops dust.
'Cause that car when I came back to it was
just covered in dust all over and all the
other cars in there, you guys and like
Taylor, people who keep looking after their
cars properly, they had these nice covers.
The paint comes to a breathe.
It doesn't get moisture trapped underneath it
or anything, and it's cover,
but obviously in that one, it's not just
covered in dust.
It's really rough.
Big thing I would say is also disconnected battery.
Well, it depends.
If it's a modern car, I would probably prefer
to keep it on a trickle charger.
If it's an old car, take the negative bath
terminal off the battery, and then maybe put
that on trickle charger, because it will be
very annoying to you when you come back after
a few months, get it jump started,
for instance, and then your battery's dead,
and every time you turn it off,
you need to buy a new battery,
you need to replace it, or it works out.
But to me too, yeah, they use an example of
not putting a car in a storage property.
And they're not my expensive one.
No, they're worth it.
They are worth having.
A good C-tech, which is what I have for this
is not that.
Also, you think it's cheap in the battery.
Yeah, exactly, so.
And also you can get little,
the connectors that will not wire into a
battery, but you bolt onto a battery that has
a quick disconnect.
So you don't need to constantly do the alligator clips.
You just plug that into the end of the
connector and have it in there as a quick charger.
What else I do?
I do interior clean, interior smells will
fester when sat for months.
Bag of beans.
Bag of beans.
That's the biggest thing with storage is moisture.
Yeah, especially this car.
Not everyone's going to be able to store
their car in a sealed lab because a lot of
the very expensive ones, they're like
humidity controlled, temperature controlled
to be perfect.
So sometimes being indoors, but if you're in
a super damp or very, very cold environment,
it can be pretty bad on rubber seals and the shit.
So that's the, it depends on what you're
putting it in.
Some people will have like a dehumidifier or
something in a garage that helps.
And mold too.
I would also say anecdotally,
I don't think there's any science behind this.
Maybe there is a cream will know,
but go back to it every month or two and give
it a start up and warm up.
Certainly to, you know, necessarily run
around, but cars don't like sitting and not being used.
They're, like you said, their rubber gets
brittle and old.
Again, it's not gonna happen over six months,
but just making sure it's constantly used
will probably make it a little bit happier
when you come back to using it properly.
Yeah.
Yeah, and if you are considering storage,
maybe don't.
Oh, not even that, but maybe don't do it for
the, people that store it for like six months
or whatever, you will end up having problems
from having it.
It doesn't matter how long you stay,
how long, how well you store that car,
you will end up with problems from not using it.
Yeah.
So if you can, use it as much as you can,
like you basically just said,
but use it as much as you can.
One, just so you're using your car.
Yeah.
Like there's no point having a car that
you're not, it's just gonna be sat there doing nothing.
You're paying for insurance.
Don't be too worried about salt and stuff.
I know you said it's not like too golf.
Yeah.
It's relatively good for sort of UK weather,
but it is gonna be a car that is gonna rust.
But you can clean this stuff and there's,
there are ways to treat this and that kind of thing.
So yeah, don't be too afraid of rain and salt.
Otherwise you start to sort of not hate the
car, but if you're always worried about it,
you're like, "Oh, is it gonna be wet?"
I feel it a little bit with this sometimes,
but it's, yeah, you should try and use your
car as much as possible.
They weren't melt.
Yeah, people talk about salt.
It is bad, obviously, long term,
but if you go for a drive in the salt,
you're not gonna, you're not gonna come to
your car next day and your arch will be disappeared.
On a winter's day, if I'm honest,
a lot of my favorite driving I've ever done
has been in the depths of winter,
because it's a lot of times when nice roads
are really quiet.
Like going out in December, January,
there are some really nice roads to just go and drive.
Do it on a dry day, you don't just do it when
it's not raining, go on a dry day,
and if you have gone anywhere near,
anywhere that looks like it has salt,
just give it a clean, just be more religious.
Like in the summer, I'm really bad for
cleaning cars, I'll leave them weeks and
weeks and weeks without.
Like my M3, I washed just after we came back
the night of the day, I've been in the
winter, I haven't since.
The three weeks.
Yeah, three, four weeks.
But, and I've driven it a lot.
Whereas in the winter, I get home after
drive, give it a quick wash,
just do inside the arches, just do,
you know, on the underside, if you can
quickly, get rid of most of it,
you'll be okay.
And also, you don't need to put it in storage
for like, a lot of people go,
"Oh, it's the second week of September."
Yeah, people.
There, put it in storage until next April.
You can put it in, I would say,
here we go, from the start of December,
in this country, at least, until maybe like,
beginning to middle of March,
is when you're realistically gonna find
really salty roads and that sort of thing.
We don't actually get, we don't get that sort
of froths until, realistically,
after Christmas, a lot of the time.
So, you can just, just don't drive it then.
But there were also, yeah, there's lots of
other reasons you might have work
commitments, that mean you're not gonna drive it,
so.
Santa.
Yeah, he's got over here.
Well, you're an elf, busy, busy,
December-coming, doesn't he?
I mean, he's in storage stuff.
Yeah, yeah, wonderful slaves.
11 months a year, undersealed.
Sorry, 364 days a year, famously,
that slaves sat up, and do nothing.
And he has to go out in the salt once a year.
So I wonder if he's undersealed that.
It goes out, it's got a missfire and he goes,
"I should use this to do more often."
You know what, he has to, that's the thing,
he has to be doing a few weeks of testing beforehand.
Early December has to be when he gets to
sleigh out, because you can't be on,
you know, Christmas Eve going,
right, get the cover off and get out,
'cause what if, you know, you've got a part
that's broken, GSF don't have that next day?
What are you gonna do?
You post a picture with it.
You post a picture with it in the sun on Instagram.
There's guns out.
Would GSF, though, just off top of it,
would actually have it within half an hour?
Of course, usually, yeah, just a little side note,
yeah.
But, you know, Mrs.
Claus might have dropped something on it and
then to the paintwork, and also,
you need to get that sorted before you go out.
Yeah, and you wanna make sure you can clean
it beforehand, too, because you can't go out on it.
Do you think he's a snow foam type guy?
I think he's doing a pre-wash.
Oh, very good.
I think he's doing it.
I reckon he's doing it.
I reckon he's doing it.
No, okay, I think he's doing it.
I'm not cutting.
I think he's a teacup type of man.
Yeah, man.
He's got red teacup on that thing,
just swising it there.
If you look at all the rubber seals,
you can see bits of polish.
Yeah, it's our drag.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The drag XFR, it's that.
It's covered in polish.
It's been waxed a million times,
but underneath that, scratchy.
Scratchy and scratchy.
Right, I think we're in danger of becoming
quite delirious.
So I think we'll end the podcast there.
Thank you very much for listening to this episode.
Number 94.
Yeah.
Approaching that great teal.
Great teal.
We're gonna pop off and head out.
Up on the paggars.
We'll be out on the paggars.
Ah, Zondini,
mate.
Mate.
Mate's gonna fix the paggars.
Yeah.
I'm
gonna stay a little whizzy, starty motor in there,
mate.
Boy, fire up the egg with old Christian.
Let's go.
Yeah.
Thank you very much for listening.
See you next week.
Bye.
Bye.
