0:00 Introduction and Rule or Ruin

He got done.

I think speeding.

He was also watching EastEnders.

Sorry, Alfa, but he was watching EastEnders

in the car.

That's crazy.

He was racking behind us at a very

interesting beginning to the podcast.

So Will's on the long sofa.

I'm on a small one.

I'm in the hot seat.

At the start of every single cream podcast,

we asked the question, "Do cars rule

everything around us this week,

or do they ruin everything around us?"

William.

I have no real news to make anything up,

so I'm just going to say rule.

Although I am my only turmoil in the last few

weeks has been whether to sell a car or not.

The rain driver was going.

I don't need this.

I've moved now.

I'm not doing long mode two hours.

He's just too nice.

He's just too nice.

Actually, the 350 might have to go.

350 is at the same time.

"Oh, cool.

All right, Ranger, mate, you're going."

Meanwhile, today, as much as I love it,

because it's reliable, it looks great,

and it's good value as well for what it is.

That's meant to be the car that I look at on

a weekend and go, "I want to take that for a drive."

I don't really have that.

So I think he's got a game.

It's left me.

Football left me.

The game has left me on the 350s edge,

so it's time to go.

It's time to go.

Wow.

But so it is a rule overall.

Overall, rule.

Okay.

Benjamin.

It's a rule.

Ooh.

I've got to mention, last week on the

podcast, because I couldn't think because it

was like midnight, but my X5 needs some arms,

so it's very squeaky at the ball,

which is great.

I know.

But that's fine, because I have another car,

which I service on the weekend.

And all by myself, I did.

Oh, by yourself.

Yeah.

How many times did you call me?

One.

And how many times did you call me?

Two ones.

How many times?

One?

It was possibly two.

I texted you once and scored you once.

I texted you once.

Well, what happened?

Well, okay.

So we service the car, oil, filters,

spark plugs.

Oil was fine.

It was fine.

Boring, who cares?

The spark plugs, which is as he's French is

in that manifold off, which I and you'd be

proud of me, didn't look it up.

Nice.

It's just worked out.

It's quite easy.

You have some plug out of the sensors and

stuff to get it out.

And that won't become a problem later.

No, it's shunt.

And then did the spark plugs,

one of them was full of oil.

So I ran away with a bit of a panic and he

said semi photos and we think it's fine.

It was the one that was right next to oil

fill up cap and it was just on my threads,

not the actual spark plug tip.

So it's just some oil, drop down.

Listen, your spark plugs need to be lubricated.

would have been you.

Yeah, I was going to say I meant to ask this

is the I was going to say is you putting this

on will for filling up the oil because you

then we did a service when you bought the car

at the old unit.

Oh, and do you remember how much oil?

Do you remember spilling it?

Oh, I actually remember that now.

You said that.

We might have to check the foot areas for the

archive of that because the oil is everywhere.

But those are youtubers.

You know, Ben's quite good at deleting fish.

Well, I should have everything.

Oh, apart from my 911.

Yeah, well, yeah.

Yeah, so I did that and then changed my plug

to put it back together.

It was fine.

And I was like, cool.

It was getting, I had to go out that evening.

So I didn't have much time, but I said to my

mate, Sam, get his Integra, DC2 Type-R Integra.

We said we're going to go for a drive to

Cheddar Gorge, which is just beautiful sunset.

And we thought, that's great.

I started to clear up, make sure it's all good.

And I started up and it was only at 2,500 RPM.

That was nice.

And I had a service light, a traction light,

and like a voltage, a little wiggly light.

voltage light, I started panicking.

I was like, you know what, anything it could

be, it could be all, it must be the spark plug.

So I thought I'll put your ones back in,

but it couldn't really be bothered.

And our sag is going to lose our drive.

Running around panicking for a bit,

didn't look

4:14 Integra Drive and Gearbox Issues

it up, just panicked.

And then, best step one of any car fix,

step one panic.

Off, messed it up, off, messed it up.

Yeah, literally.

And then Sam goes, what's that massive

connector hanging off in the engine bay?

And that was just the main connector that

goes to my throttle body.

That makes sense.

And that's what you called well about.

You did call me about that, yeah.

And as soon as you

started to describe it, and I immediately

knew what it was.

No, because I was at before I called you.

No, I told you, because I called you because

it was not misfiring, but it sounded a bit rough.

And then, William, for me, I'd use the wrong spark plugs.

You did, yeah.

But the funny thing was, so you told Will

about not plugging that matter,

what's called, the throttle blade.

You've done that multiple times.

And then when you explained it to me,

I've done that multiple times with my client.

And it's scared that out of me.

Where the throttle body says is underneath,

so it's really easy to put it all back together.

It's also really easy when you take it off

that you miss it.

You pull off one more thing that's connected,

you take it off.

Then you forget it when you put it back on.

And then all of a sudden the car goes,

whoa.

Where do you think we're going without this?

I had zero recollection of ever taking off.

But it was running fine.

And then we went for the most delectable

drive, went down to the gorge,

went over to the Mendipse, which was a little

straight road.

Also Mendip.

That's an era of outstanding natural beauty.

There's a

national park on that.

But whatever.

It's a very beautiful part of the English countryside.

You were bagging it, you were rowing gears

with your mate.

I was.

I was junctions were exited.

And was it liquid cars?

It was great.

It was going up and down the gorge,

which was quite quiet.

It was nice loud noises.

Ben, Ben's early on the game.

That's a summer type beat.

And he sees early on it.

He's in there in March.

He's doing it in March.

It was like a sunset.

It felt very spring spring.

But it was, I was, but all the winners open

for induction noise.

And lovely.

I cooked my hands at the end of it.

Nice.

It's a rule for that reason.

Very rule.

Nice.

It's not for me.

It's not for me.

Oh, it's a, you know.

Oh, yeah.

It's a big time.

It's really difficult to tell normally

because there's, there's so many cars.

There's so many things.

But yeah, I know.

Okay.

Today's Tuesday.

On Sunday, I've decided it's time to get the 911.

and gearboxing.

Cause we were filming a little second channel

video for it and I was like,

I'm going to get it done.

We were working with a guy called Andrew who

is like a gearbox rebuilder and he,

we rebuilt the LSD, put it all back in the

car and he was like, yeah, that's it.

Basically it's all done.

And I had the load of stuff to do on Sunday

and then like late in the day I was like,

right, I'm just going to have a gun.

I'm going to chuck this, chuck the gearboxing.

And it all went smoother than anything has

ever gone before.

The clutch, the flywheel went on perfectly.

The clutch went on first.

I didn't, I didn't have the clutch alignment at all.

And yet the one I made out of electrical tape

and a ratchet head worked perfectly.

The gearbox straight in, slotted straight in.

I was maybe, it was maybe two minutes worth

of jiggling and it just went in.

I was like, this is, this is,

you know what, the universe is aligning.

This is unheard of.

We are so back.

Put the drive shaft bolts back in,

everything's good.

Start off the car up, put it in gear.

It moved.

It drove.

I was like, this is it.

I had a gearbox.

This is crazy.

And I said to, I said in the video,

I'm going to park the car.

And then when Will's in tomorrow,

we will go for a drive and end the video

there and be like, it's back,

it's driving.

I was so happy in the like, like,

late at night.

It was like 10 at night.

And then I thought, you know what,

don't just go down the road.

Let me just go down the road.

And yeah, the moment I put it in,

the moment I got up to like 15 or 20 miles an

hour, the, the rattling that was there before

from the blown gearbox was there times five.

It was worse than before.

I can't remember if you mentioned,

but this is a, not the same gearbox.

This is a used gearbox.

A used new gearbox deemed good.

It was, we checked through it.

Everything was fine.

Everything was perfect.

So everything does the last.

There was no reason for anything to be wrong.

It came out of a very low mileage car.

I met the guy whose car it came out of.

He was a very nice guy.

There was no reason for him to like,

he was a Porsche specialist.

Yeah.

So I think the gearbox is fine.

I think there's either just an installation

error with the LSD or with the me putting the

gearbox in the car.

Maybe when I put the flow in,

I don't know.

So everything's up in the air at the moment.

By the time this comes out, the video might

come out and we might have taken the car back apart.

But as of right now, I have another blown gearbox.

And for that, it's a ruin.

I'm really upset.

That is quite upset.

You know what?

Actually, I'm not upset.

I'm disappointed.

I'm like a parent.

I drove home.

This is like 11 at night when I drove home.

And I was not, I was not angry.

I was just disappointed.

I was just excited.

And I just was let down.

So it's a huge, huge L.

It's my favorite rapper.

It's big L.

It's a big L for me.

It's possibly the biggest L yet.

But it really is.

So, you know, catch it next week when,

you know, I may or may not be here.

So, but that's good.

So we got two rules of ruin.

Still over.

Good going.

That's, you know, as

always, let us know in the comments,

your rules are ruined for the week.

William, would you like to kick us off with

some, we got news?

There are some news.

There are some news.

Quite interesting news.

The Grand Tour is back.

Yeah.

9:30 The Grand Tour's Return

with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.

Is it?

I thought it was Hammond.

And James May.

Oh, I didn't know.

Clarkson's in it.

It's not a Grand Tour.

No, but it's the, it's like when,

you know, Top Gear used to have John Bishop.

Yeah.

Doing.

And what's amazing about his,

the chemistry was just amazing.

It was for Andy Lava.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So I think it's just, it's just them

commentating on over highlights and stuff.

So, but obviously everyone online is going,

that's so bad.

Guys, they're back.

also would be, would be quite the

considerable L to be handing out if there's a

new Grand Tour coming out with different people.

And then those three come back and go,

no.

Yeah.

You know what, run over again,

run it back.

But yeah, so it's not an actual car show,

but what is a car show?

But you know, it's just, it's,

it's, it's a recap.

It's a, it's a recap.

Yeah.

It's a, it's a two hour long,

yeah, a special.

It's a YouTube clips, but long,

but it's a little second channel video.

Yeah.

TikTok.

These guys modified their cars.

This is Grand Tour Mark II.

But other than that, other than noise,

the noise, the news that, that stood out to

me is Ferrari have, there are some designs

that have been leaked for an oval piston.

Yeah.

Now that is interesting.

At your old job, you did a video on oval pistons.

Yeah, we did a video on, well,

actually that my dad told me about that.

I was at a museum, a Bully, I was at a Bully

with my dad and there was a bike called a Honda.

NR750, the Honda.

Yeah, which is a road bike, which has oval

pistons in it.

And I don't know, this would be a good video.

Who should make a video on that?

I was like, yeah, whatever.

And I went back to work the next day,

I was like, he's actually quite interesting.

Pitched the idea, made the video,

the video, I think it's well over a million views.

Because it's interesting, oval pistons,

but the overall thing was, I know it's

pronounced oval overall, is that it wasn't a

very good idea.

Because basically they couldn't make the

rings that work.

They were like two that joined,

I think it was, they were like hockey puck

design, and I can hardly stick,

sorry.

It sounds different, it has a different sound to it.

Yeah, I think it does make an odd sound,

but it's basically for packaging,

really.

You could have oval pistons,

if you think of an oval, it's kind of like,

you could basically fit two smaller pistons

inside that, but you get it all in one

piston, but it has two rods.

Ah, yes, that was it.

I remember it, yeah.

And so Ferrari have put patterns forward,

doing a V12 with those pistons,

yeah.

Also crazy, yeah, you have to replace your rods.

Okay, 24 at Ferrari prices, tough.

That's tough.

People making forged pistons.

I'm tired, boss.

I know, but basically it's for like

packaging, so if they can make them oval,

they can make the car overall,

or the engine, sorry.

A little bit, yeah.

A bit easier to, but it's an interesting thing.

But even Honda came out when they were making

this, they made an oval, it was to fit in

with, I can't remember exactly,

but it was to do like two stroke and four

stroke to do with that.

Regulations during motorbike racing,

and then they tried for years and years,

basically it just kept blowing up,

just kept fighting, kept failing,

it never really did very well.

In the end, they made it into a road bike,

which is now very, very expensive as far as I'm aware.

I think it's called an NR750.

Bike people furiously typing right now.

Even Honda came out like, I can't remember

one of the guys, one of the Honda guys,

he was like, I don't know if we were just

messing about, basically, like just,

just.

We knew Alfred looking over.

Maybe we'd take a bit.

What do you mean by that?

No, no, you just need to do this.

It's one of those that, Ferrari,

it's when someone else looks at you doing a

job and you're like, yeah, have you not just

tried doing that?

Have you tried that?

Have you tried that?

I've done that.

(laughs)

If Honda see Ferrari do it, they're gonna be so pissed.

Yeah.

But yeah, I mean, interesting.

It's a new thing.

I like new things, new ideas.

What would it happen?

Who knows?

It's Ferrari.

What's good?

It's an engine.

Exactly.

And it's a V12 engine.

It is an engine, they haven't got all oval motor.

Should we try on an oval electric?

Nice.

And that's it for the news.

That's it for news.

Because you've got lots of anecdotes.

On this list on things to speak on.

Parent and child parking, I'm pretty sure I

put this in.

From the Mustang, we've parked them--

Yeah, yeah.

To somewhere.

Ice blasters.

Ice blasters.

Ice, blast something.

The something that we have.

And we came to services and Edwin went into

the, you went into the services and I stayed

in the car like a child.

But then I saw this Mustang.

Yeah, we'd seen this Mustang actually.

It was a tins of windows, black Mustang,

black wings.

You mean to 40 private plates.

Yeah, absolutely.

It was a whopper.

Pulled out, parked in parent and child.

I thought nothing on it.

14:12 Parent and Child Parking Spaces

No, it's fine.

Did I see a child get out of there?

We're good.

Yeah, out the driver's seat,

out the driver's seat.

And a parent gets out the passenger's seat.

Man and a woman get out, that's it.

Yeah, more count.

Now, would you?

What?

Would you do that?

No, I don't know why.

That must be the very English part of me

I couldn't.

Same with the disabled bay.

I just couldn't do that.

And now I'm gonna say this.

Oh.

Here we go.

Here we go.

This is possibly controversial.

I would feel much worse about parking into

the disabled bay.

Oh, yeah, 100%.

'Cause it's just a child.

It's a child.

Yeah.

Like it can get out the car.

Also, it's smaller.

Yeah.

Also, they have free will.

Yeah.

Like all the pram and stuff,

that's in the boot.

Yeah.

Also, kids, I mean, I know it's not aimed at,

like, normal kids, it's aimed at very young kids.

Yeah.

But, kids are like running around.

Yeah, let them go back in the car park.

(laughs)

That's what I mean, that also kids,

they got their most energy.

Yeah, exactly.

Let them get to the back and spring across

the car park.

Exactly.

Also, I mean, if you've got a child who's in

the cars, they can look at the cars in the car park.

Exactly, but I thought, you know what?

I'm not completely against, apparently.

A young phase.

Are you annoyed that you didn't think of it?

Yeah, but I actually don't think I could do it.

No.

I'm willing to do lots of things.

Yeah.

I'm willing to do lots of things that are

frowned upon, but that I don't think I could do it.

Criminals have standards.

(laughs)

But that, I actually don't, it's the way

people, someone could pull you up on it.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

And I wouldn't know what to say.

No.

Other than I would be on a TikTok or something.

Little Timmy's in the book.

Yeah.

He's under the parcel shelf.

He's in there.

Yeah, I am a child.

I was a child.

Now, could you get away with it just by

having a child seat in the back?

Sure, yeah.

And then he's still inside.

He's paying for shopping.

He's not coming.

Then you leave.

Ben dropped him off his school.

Ben, you poking in parent and child base?

No.

No.

Oh, wow.

They're roping the conversation.

No, no, I wouldn't do that.

No.

Sable base?

No.

Surely.

All right.

All right.

Electric cars, parking spaces.

I've done that.

I've done that.

I've done that.

I don't think I've ever done that.

I don't know.

I don't think I have.

Only briefly.

And you know what?

I've got an even worse one.

Oh, no.

I have done that just to, yeah.

Like, just literally running in somewhere

quickly because there was non-park then.

No, you let down a needy electric car owner.

Yeah.

No, they died that evening.

It's even worse one than that.

Have you ever parked?

You can go to McDonald's.

Yeah.

And they've got parking spaces that are

specifically for collections.

Oh, absolutely.

You parked in that.

Absolutely, I have parked in them ever before.

Look, I've done that.

That's worse than a stable one.

No, private property.

Private property?

Every round for themselves.

Yeah, that's fair.

That's fair.

That's fair.

That's fair.

Who makes the rules?

Me and Kyle.

Me

and Kyle.

(laughing)

Now here's the conundrum, let me put this at

your door, right?

Mid-day on a Saturday, busy Tesco's type B.

I'm not parking there, there are people parking there.

If I go to Tesco, 10 at night,

and you know when you see it,

there's 400 disabled bays the whole way down

inside the open.

My brain goes, go on, just go on.

But it's simply for that fact,

but if someone goes, hold on.

What were you doing?

Take control of me.

Then that would be, that's over,

it's game over.

Again, the Mustang, you know what?

If they pulled up, again, this is me not

seeing them get out of it, and just being a

couple with no child.

But if I saw Azara Picasso in that space,

I'm good.

The car is part of the factor.

You pull up in the five litre Mustang,

I'm suddenly, there's some form of prejudice there.

I'm saying, if you have a five litre Mustang,

you cannot have kids.

No, you've gone, no, not for me.

No, you don't have kids.

So same scenario.

A supermarket, let's say.

Have you ever just parked literally outside

the front door on the double yellows?

Yes.

Yeah.

See, but why is that?

Why is that?

'Cause I've done the same thing.

Why is that less bad than parking disabled by?

Yeah.

That's open.

Have we spoken about our trailer cyclists' altercations?

Oh, no, we haven't.

Which happens so much.

Can I ask a question on still base?

If you were to park in one, you were called

out for it.

Would you, how bad a person are you?

Would you not pretend?

But would you, no, tell them that you are disabled?

No, or would you just say yes?

Oh, don't it?

Okay.

I'm quite happy with that fact.

I think by now, everyone

19:08 Cyclist Encounters and Altercations

listening on the podcast can tell,

we're assholes.

Sit to a degree.

Quite unpleasant.

Yeah.

I will quite happily own up to anything that I do.

But if I've been an asshole.

If I've been an asshole.

No, you are.

But if you've been an asshole,

I think it's more respectable to be,

yeah, I am an asshole.

To double down on it, yeah.

Then go, no, actually, it's because I can do it.

Because of it, man.

Then in some ways, then that means you're a good person.

You're just a man that made a mistake.

If you stand there and claim you're disabled.

No, but it's not mistake, it's deliberate.

You knew what you were doing going into that bank.

Okay, maybe your judgment was a mistake.

No, if I was making fake disabled badges.

Then I'm saying that I'm saying that would

you just tell them I'm not an entrepreneur.

Then you're an entrepreneur.

Yeah, but I was a business man.

Doing business, doing business.

No, I'm saying, would you say to them,

"No, I actually am disabled."

Would you double down and tell them that you're not?

No, of course not.

That's crazy.

'Cause Faining the disability.

That's actually wild.

It's simply for what, like an extra few minutes.

Yeah, exactly.

Although what if there's no spaces?

If needs must, I'll do it.

Every man for themselves.

But then again, that's the same thing.

If someone called me out on it,

I'd be like, which is literally if you wanna explain.

Oh yeah, so we went away.

It was the last podcast.

Yeah, it was the last podcast where we were staying.

It was a little sort of Bay type parking

space out the back there.

The gate.

This was on a main road, next to a train

track, and then another train track.

It was quite a busy main road.

And we had to back the trailer over a pathway.

And there was a drop curb.

There was a drop curb, so you can,

it's literally, it's a driveway essentially.

It's to get into a driveway.

But we had a trailer.

But we had a trailer, so obviously the car's

slightly longer, and we wanted to take the trailer off.

Yeah, and this area was not great.

Not great.

It was really bad.

And there was no way I was leaving the

trailer, connects to the Cayenne on the road

that's getting it.

So Edwin's picked it in, and then halfway

through, we obviously wanted to take the

trailer off so he could push in,

so we could drive, we needed to go elsewhere

in the Cayenne, so that the trailer was safe.

Yeah.

Cyclist pulls down.

I'm not gonna even call him a cyclist.

They weren't, they're not the cyclist you're

picturing in your head.

No, he was probably actually a child,

if I'm honest.

He was late teens.

He was a late teen, he was old enough to know better.

Exactly what I was gonna say.

Screeching's to a halt before the trailer

doesn't end up.

The back of the trailer trying to disconnect

it so we can push it in.

We're not, we don't look like that 1930s New

York photo of us sitting on a,

still going to eating our lunch.

No, no, no, no.

We're not doing nothing.

We are clearly trying to, we're pushing a trailer in.

Screeching's to a halt and goes,

oh, you can't just block the path.

We both just looked at him, I was a

gobsmacked throughout.

I was in disbelief and I looked at the

trailer pointed at the driveway and went,

I'm literally moving the trailer inside.

That's what we're doing.

Either say, oh, I didn't know that.

So what did you think was happening here?

But then afterwards, kept going,

you can't do that, you can't block it.

How am I supposed to gain access to this?

It was almost you can't borrow that.

Would you like me to levitate this trailer

over the top and go in?

We're talking about.

We're kindly told him he can either wait,

which would be possibly seconds.

Or he could go round the car,

which is slightly more sketchy,

but it can be.

And I think he did do that.

He went around the car.

He went around the car.

He was all huffy.

Now I can't do that.

It was a, it was a, let's call it the red

mist, it descended.

I didn't say shout.

I did say

to him, 'cause he was on the path.

I said, "Well, you shouldn't even be on the path."

And he looked quite confused at me and said,

"Yes, I can."

And the best part,

he went off and then I was like,

"Yeah, that's a good point.

Surely he can't be on the path."

And the next morning we were pulling the

trailer back out, I saw the exact place he

was stopped on the pavement.

The little bike clog over should cycle fast.

I'm gonna lie back to the other one.

With the asshole there.

We are the asshole there.

But also, be patient.

Just wait, just give it up.

Also, would you want me to levitate it?

Yeah.

How do I get it in the driveway?

How do I get it in the driveway?

Ben, didn't you have a cyclist anecdote?

Cyclist related story.

You've got here, cycling should be illegal

during rush hour.

It should be.

That's my whole boy.

No, listen, cycling, getting out of there.

It's a bit of fresh air.

Oh, okay.

Exercise, you probably feel better afterwards.

You may have even had a good time,

probably not.

Are you talking about cycling cyclists?

But if you're on a bike, not commuting to

work, 'cause that's fair.

But if you are just in all the spandex on a

road bike at 7.38 A.M., just blocking

traffic, what you doing?

During rush hour.

I know, is this a weekdays?

Yes.

Because it's not a weekend.

Yeah, you get out there really.

No.

Although I have another thing about cyclists,

which I'll get onto a minute,

which actually winds me up, but in a second.

Is this podcast perhaps cyclists fault?

This is a podcast.

I'll say it quickly.

When you're cycling, why is it?

I get you're moving and there's wind noise in your ears.

Why are they shouting at each other?

Cyclists.

Yeah, where I used to live was on a corner.

Yeah.

I could hear cyclists.

Yeah, 'cause I live on a main road,

and on a Saturday morning, it's quite quiet.

You hear cyclists come up there,

they're a little panting, and they don't

wanna lose three seconds of heartbeats and

what a students say.

Oh, do you rather?

Right, and then they go, "Yeah,

Dave, yes, so I'll send to her."

"Why are you screaming, you're literally next

to each other?"

But obviously in that ear, all they can hear

is wind noise, but ah, I guess I'm so angry.

You're not thinking some ear pieces.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah.

They need the podcast set.

Also, do they not realise?

They could just go to a pub and talk.

Oh, interesting.

Or talk on the phone.

It's just as healthy too.

Yeah.

(laughs)

I can't fathom cyclists.

Okay, sorry, I've had my first,

my original anger.

This morning, I was driving.

Cutch lanes, whatever.

He was like 20 cars, one guy cycling.

What you doing?

And he, but he was not a, he was dressed for cycling.

He was donned in the kit.

Oh, now that's interesting.

On a Tuesday morning, it was,

and I think, what time was it that I had to

pull over and tell that to you?

What time is that?

That was sent at 7.25

A.M.

7.25 A.M.

That's crazy.

What are you doing?

Why

are you going for an Iron Man that early in the morning?

I could go on for a long time about cyclists.

I don't care that you like it.

I really hate you if you like that.

But dressing up like that, and it's like

dressing up like a Formula One driver.

You go for a drive.

Now that I actually can hear,

because I can understand doing it to a degree

of, like if you're in a race,

fine.

Every ounce counts.

No, I disagree with that.

I disagree, I disagree.

In a shade in your legs to do a sport,

you got an issue.

No, no, no, no.

But if there is the, I don't know what they

call it, the London to Gatwick Scramble 9,000

race that they do, fine.

But if you're out for like a country's cycle,

and you're wearing the full Spandex,

come on, man.

like Traxxed Bottom, or like a full three-piece suit.

But when I see you, like, when I see your,

your spongy ass.

In front of me, when I see.

I can't resist, but.

He'd

be in Swiss shop.

He just doesn't let the Q to pay.

And then just the man comes in,

he's wearing the click-poppy shoes.

He's got, he's got, he's got,

he's wearing like, tight, and then like,

a man-kini.

And he's kind of got his nipples out,

and he's like, eating a banana,

and he's bought a, what are you doing?

There's a wrap-around sunglasses.

So specific, then he's thinking of one man.

(laughing)

That's me.

And his name's John, and it's always there.

It's cyclists really, blah, blah,

blah.

I always see that, well, why are you wearing that stuff?

Well, I've just moved to, it's very,

very hilly.

And I've, there's just tons of cyclists there.

They see it as like, some sort of challenge.

They're like, we will, we, we,

we, we will drive up this hill.

We will ride up this hill.

And normally, I went past one the other day,

must have been about 70 odd.

I mean, like all power to you.

Fair scowl away.

Cause he's going so ridiculously slow up the hill.

So, go down it.

Yeah.

Much faster down.

See that, you know, that's, that's how I know

I'm still a child.

If I look at a bike, I'm looking at how fast

I can go down a hill.

Have you, I mean, this is completely

unrelated to cars or the road,

but when you see someone with a bike walking

it, where do you see that?

I just saw that, perhaps a little week or two.

Oh yeah, because it kind of,

kind of mean, it was a woman doing that with the bike.

And as we went past, one of us said,

it goes much faster if you get on it.

(laughing) This is a fun girl's where

everyone's going, these guys are.

The thing is though, we're not saying that

cycling is real, we're kind of a spy.

So, well, where I grew up, right,

there's not a very good transport link to stuff.

And if I want to see my mates,

I had to see yours.

Yeah, but that's all.

But I didn't, yeah, put Spanish,

like, you just told me.

But that's probably, maybe, well,

when I stopped, well, let's drive,

but probably more teams.

I was about, yeah, rough, a teenager.

Couldn't get my license, BMX,

great.

After that, put the bike down.

But the funny thing is, there would be just

as many people on another podcast saying,

if you like driving cars, just drive a normal

car normally, why do you have to do all these

mods to it?

Why do you have to, they're not modifying

them, but I'm not seeing modified bikes.

Oh yeah, no, they modify their bikes.

But in the same fashion, they do,

they change lots of stuff.

But if you're wearing, if I put a set of

tights on, I'm suddenly, I'm not going to

like, sound better.

No, of course, they'll have more power.

But also it's because, it's because they are

exposed to the elements.

So that's right.

Too much, perhaps.

I mean, you wouldn't get away with that anywhere else.

I just having your bulge.

Like just walking into a petrol station with

your, with your meeting to just there.

Yeah, sorry.

Sorry.

No fuel on number three, please.

Sorry.

Sorry to get that laptop.

Just some chafing cream, if I could please.

Yeah, no, it's funny because they,

they would probably see the same thing of us.

Of being like, well, we, we,

we, we're making that louder.

For what reason?

And also, can I say, as well?

Because from, from experience,

off-cycle, this is political,

Ben, coming in.

We, we, we, we, no, the, the,

there are people in cars who drive like

clowns around, around you and your bike.

And I, I've been nearly hit off a bike before

people being a, a knobs because they see

every cyclist as someone who is,

who is a target.

Oh, of course.

I'm not going to go to them.

If you need a bike to get around.

That's fair.

All right.

Yeah.

If you're, if you're a full of transport.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You are odd.

You're talking, Ben, Ben.

Yeah.

I, I think you're going to be surprised by

how many people there are that are going to

please don't come for me.

And it's, I just want everyone to remember

this has been that brought this up.

Ben did bring this up.

You know, we were just, we were just

bystanders to this.

I just, I just really, really hate you.

Ben wants to ban you.

I don't want to ban you.

I just said that.

What we got next, now that we've got a

cyclist, we're done.

We just lost lots of people.

Lots of people.

They've all gone for a cycle.

Oh, was that rush hour, is it?

Oh, hang on.

What time is it right now?

10 past nine, eight.

What?

10 past eight p.m.

Okay, so they can be out now.

Oh, yeah.

In the dark.

In the dark is good.

Also, sorry, actually, one more mention of

this for cyclists.

Oh, here we go.

We're back it.

Now, right.

I'm all for you having likes.

You're a better fact.

If you have a flashing light,

that I fully agree with.

Get, why have you got a, I know you're going

to say, I need you to say me,

because if you hit me, I'm going to die.

Like, first get calm.

Cycling, if you're saying the downside of

this is that I die if I get hit.

Okay, there's a huge problem here.

Get off the bike.

But if you've got this, this thing that is

about to give me an aneurysm.

I don't know what's coming at me.

No.

Is it a low flying helicopter?

Yeah, it is mad.

I have multiple times, but like,

you know, you know that your,

your lights too bright when I drive past and go.

If I'm looking, if I'm looking like Michael

Jordan, he's trying to take the earphone off

when, you know, that's, that's crazy.

It's just, it's just not good.

Get a normal light.

It can be bright, but why is it flashing in my eye?

You know what?

We're getting an email about that.

Oh, absolutely.

We're getting an email explaining exactly why

we're wrong.

Yeah.

And there is nothing you can explain to me

that isn't better than just having a light.

There's nothing you can do that's going to

stop me clicking the spam button.

Just have a like, cyclic.

They should just have a light that sp,

spells out bike, bicycle.

Then I know what's coming at me.

It says, I am on a bicycle.

Please watch out for me.

I don't know.

You could be a moped anyway.

Right.

Now that everyone has gone off.

for a bicycle.

F-T-O-M-O-T.

Yeah.

I got a message from the guy who bought the

Mitsubishi FTO from us.

The Max Power era, FTO.

You might have seen on the top of the YouTube channel.

He's got it.

M-O-T is on the road.

So it's done.

Props.

I don't know what it's done,

but I know that it will be upcoming shows.

Is it?

We don't ask those questions here.

We don't ask those questions.

But all we know is that the FTO lives again.

That's cool.

That's cool.

He's back.

Next up on the list of things to speak on,

petrol station gloves shame.

Yes.

Ben's been putting in.

Ben's been absent.

He's been absent.

I had a big morning of thinking.

I went to get petrol as one of my usual spot.

Yeah.

And petrol station.

I like the usual spot.

AKA the petrol station on the way to work.

Yep.

That's

the one.

Yeah.

The old usual.

That's the one.

The usual.

They know me.

I love the usual.

In the clear today.

Sure.

So not unusual.

Unusual.

Unusual.

Very unusual.

Yeah, where's your clear?

All tight.

Actually, yeah.

We'll drove it yesterday.

Wow.

Why is that okay?

Anyway, that's another story.

Right, so I put my gloves on and a patch station.

Sorry.

No, no, no, no.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

A glove, not all gloves.

Oh, you went Michael Jackson's style at the special pump.

(laughing)

Did you tell the house down?

I like to wear, and I'm gonna say it,

this is a space space.

We're all friends here.

Yeah, not cyclists, clearly.

Well, they're all gone.

That's a cyclist activity.

I put a glove on the patch station.

Is that, and I did it today,

and the guy next to me, I looked over and he

was looking at me, and I don't know whether

he was thinking about the glove,

but he watched me put it on,

and he looked like he was judging me.

Now, this is gonna be very polarizing,

'cause I guarantee lots and lots of people in

the comments do this, but I cannot do that.

Also, I mean, anybody that is watching the

podcast, you will see, even in videos,

even when we're driving nice cars,

my hands are covered in dirt.

Yeah, they are always, it's just how they are.

So it doesn't really matter to me,

but if I see someone with a glove on,

I'm not judging, I'm just confused.

I just wanna know, again, there's gonna be

some people that go, I'm something that means

that I'm more prone to this.

Fair enough.

And that's fine.

Completely fair enough.

That's fine.

But for your Benz, for your average Joe,

let's cut that immune system bill out.

No, that's not what I have an issue to play.

You just don't like the fear.

Can I just take my case first?

Please, sir.

During the illness of 2020, I used to wait,

I used to put it on, 'cause I thought you

know, well, I don't really wanna get ill.

So it's muscle memory.

And then I stopped, I didn't up until that

point, and then I did it during then,

and then I stopped, and then when I got a

diesel, my X5, I started doing it again,

because diesel pumps are so dirty and smelly.

It's oil.

That's what I mean, and you get in the car,

and then your hand just smells of diesel.

That's weird, it smells weird.

That's not bad.

What's this smell of?

I can't endorse it.

And the thing is that, 'cause my petrol

station is quite close to my house,

not that close, it's probably,

I don't know, a quarter away from my journey.

So I have to do like the other three quarters

of my journey, I have a smelly hand.

Okay.

And I don't like it, and then the aircon is

like blowing, obviously over your hand,

with your own steering wheel,

and then you just smell in diesel all the time.

Ben's been thinking about it.

Yeah, I hate it, and I feel really so

conscious when I get to a petrol station,

I put the glove on.

The aircon is blowing over your hand.

Yeah.

Your hand is some kind of, some kind of,

This thinking, car.

If we were to buy you special petrol station,

when I drive like a cut in the air,

custom made petrol station gloves that say,

Ben, or what would it say?

Right as petrol left is diesel.

Oh, I like that.

But it says it's embroidered with the word

Ben on it.

Yeah.

Will you wear them?

35:21 Petrol Station Gloves Debate

Right as for pumping, left for paying.

Oh.

And then also what?

Well, I wouldn't want to, I'd do it for the joke.

No, no, I mean like, you'd use them.

Because they have gloves there.

Yeah, but these, these are yours for life.

Oh, that's my other, these gloves.

Why the gloves got holes in them?

What's that about?

Because they're probably the cheapest gloves they have.

That's what I mean though, but why are we

going to marry right now?

We didn't wait for an extra time.

Yeah, they're free gloves.

I don't, yeah, I don't think they're going,

now how can we improve the experience of them?

Well, they don't make it, hang on.

Because then people would still them.

But doesn't that make it pointless?

No, because they are still providing the service.

They can say they're providing the service.

But what my stinky hands.

you in discussion with the CEO of Disker.

So how did you find my address,

please leave?

So can we talk about my stinky hands if possible?

Smell it.

Smell it.

I had to smell a lot of Watson's,

not diesel.

(laughing)

Nothing I can do about the ham sandwich

you've just eaten.

So that's just your ex-wife leaking an easel,

that's why it smells.

Anyway, so your thing is that I'm a weirdo.

No, I get it, but I

just cut, I wouldn't do it.

Do you know what the worst thing is?

I'm not surprised.

Oh, that's the haptic wheel statement.

(laughing)

Is this a space?

Oh, I'm just gonna put a glove on.

(laughing)

How's this for?

Well, we don't see every day.

Moving on, another one from Ben on the list.

What's the problem with this?

Ben, you had some side quests over the last two days.

You've just been straight up side quests.

We got mammals with giant two iPads.

Oh my God, that was insane.

I was on the, again, this morning,

on the M4.

And there was--

I really poppin' off this morning.

It was some pretty heavy traffic,

right?

And there was this man in a L32 like yours,

very similar spec, but it was an over-finch

one, so it was bad.

Quite loud, big pipes, whatever.

And he kept doing pools, just like traffic,

they'd be like, he'd wait for a gap,

he'd just do a pool.

Was it five later?

I would've seemed so, it was loud.

Who year was it?

I don't, look at him.

It was a prop plate.

Could he sound petrol, could he sound diesel?

He was petrol.

Okay, so he's gonna be a five later one.

He's gonna be a five later one,

he's gonna be a five later one.

Anyway, he looked, and then I got past it and

I was like, this guy's kind of doing odd things.

And I looked in there and I,

this sounds untrue, okay?

You know when people buy those bad Chinese

apple car play things?

They pop onto that.

Like pads that stick to the screen,

they're stupid.

It was that, but it was two full size iPads,

like a dual monitor in the

middle.

I'd like to hear him.

He got trading stocks, it's not there at all.

He had three screens in the checkout.

What could you leave that for?

Also, it took up like a two thirds of the entire world.

Windscreen.

Cheese.

Because he ended in the big iPads.

Yeah, yeah.

Two of them.

I don't know where you're at.

What was on them?

Diagnostics.

Surely you haven't.

I tried, but I was gonna crash,

so.

Oh, that's not what you, just worth it for the anecdote.

Listen, I would've got a photo,

but I didn't really want to do that.

Yeah.

Because of dying and what such.

Now, what could you play in your iPad?

I mean, perhaps Simpson's Road Rage in the

background, like what we've got on TV,

that would be nice.

You could've done that.

In traffic.

I mean, surely he's got draggy times.

If that's what he's doing, his pulls for.

Is that what's going on?

He's keeping an eye on the road driver.

Ooh, was that left airbag pressure?

Are we good?

We're good.

I think it was, one of them was a TED talk

for your brain.

Ooh, okay.

But he was doing pulls?

Yeah.

And then I think the other side was like

subway surfers to keep him engaged.

I like that, yeah.

Yeah, that's Gen Z over there.

Yeah, that's why I did, at least.

Those are just scrolling through reels.

Yeah.

It was like a video game and then above it,

there's a man talking about business on the podcast.

Yeah, yeah.

For AI voice.

Okay.

Nice.

We had to impose, now I just thought that's that's crazy.

The amount of, I don't know what,

I feel like an old man when it comes to

technology and cars.

An Apple CarPlay, fine, cool,

but the sort of stuff yesterday when we were

on the way back, the same from the ice

blasters, we saw a man at the traffic lights.

Holding his phone, in one hand,

he

had the wheel in one hand, he had his phone

in the other.

You know when people kind of hold it,

it's kind of like a parent pose,

they hold the phone kind of just above their

head and maybe like,

I don't know if it's a signal.

Yeah, like 660 centimeters in front of his

face, on FaceTime, at the roundabout,

and then I thought that's crazy.

Surely it's just 'cause he stopped.

No, no, light went green, carried on,

just looking into the phone,

as if driving was the set, as the set,

everything was going on.

Yeah, it was just the back of his mind,

I'm just getting around this roundabout.

I see a wild amount of people on FaceTime in the car.

Sometimes they have it like on the dash,

like in the, how you say, cradle or what they

call it, or on their mount.

I don't know if they go, this is fine now.

If it's attached to the car,

you play Angry Birds.

Here's my question.

If you're on FaceTime, or driving the car,

you're doing the exact same thing as a telephone call.

There's no use to be on a video.

Also, the angle that they're getting is

probably not gonna be perfect.

It's a lower half of a chest.

It'll be like maybe the left side of your

body or also you're concentrating.

And if you're driving, which you are,

I don't care how good you believe yourself

that you are at driving while being on the

phone, you're not, you're not engaging with

that person on a video.

No.

You're driving and going, yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

What's the point?

Just voice call someone.

If the person on the face however,

and they're dying moments.

Fair.

Fair enough.

If I'm a policeman, I'm letting you off.

Yeah, fair.

I'm letting you off.

If you have just killed a family of four in

the process, it gets a bit sticky.

But you know what I'm warning.

It's for the greater good.

Perhaps.

But if you are, I'll be on my way home now as

my wife and four kids.

are on FaceTime.

Let's wait.

Just wait.

Or just have a phone call, like a like on

three or two, or whatever.

It's fine.

There is technology available.

I don't understand.

If you know someone that does that,

can you please ask them why and put it in the comments?

Because I would love to actually understand

why people do it.

What are you getting out of it?

Joe does that, my granddad.

What a FaceTime?

No, it isn't FaceTime.

We didn't do it anymore, actually,

because he got done.

I think speeding.

He was also watching EastEnders.

Sorry.

in the car.

Yeah, that's crazy.

But this was years ago.

I don't think he does.

But for legal reasons, I don't think he does it anymore.

He has, he goes in like early 2000s.

He had a full box TV sitting in the

passenger's seat with an aerial watching.

Look, old people, not saying it's fine,

but they're not fully getting it.

They need some education here.

Yeah, fair.

But not ideal.

No, if I see an old man fly past me in

EastEnders on the dashboard,

I am worried.

And then it goes off.

(laughs) You need to stand.

(laughs) Yeah, not great.

What else we got on our list?

We've got VW Transporters from you,

I believe.

Now, this is something I just,

I need to

42:12 VW Transporter Modifications

understand.

I don't want this whole, this podcast,

we're going downhill in terms of negativity.

But this is a genuine question I have.

Why does acquiring a Volkswagen Transporter

make you the number one eBay sticker buyer of all time?

And in general, how is it, why is it that

Volkswagen Transporters are actually the

largest automotive modifiers modifying

community of any human owner of any group?

Because they are, I would like you watching

or listening to this podcast,

just keep a note of the next Volkswagen

Transporter you see, it will be modified.

It will have aftermarket wheels,

it will have a private plate that either says

T25 or T28 or T5 on it.

It will have black wheels, it will have weird

dodgy LED lights,

and

I might as well do what I want with it.

But I've never spoken to someone who has one

to understand it, because I just,

I came out never wanted to.

I came out, I came left out my girlfriend's

house yesterday and there was a modified

transporter sitting on the drive across.

And then as I turned around,

a modified transporter came towards me,

went past me and I went, "That's weird."

And I just got to the junction,

two more drove pasts.

It's just, they're all modified.

Why?

I can't understand it.

I can't fully understand the van thing,

but it seems transporters have got their own,

their own world going on.

They're so modified.

I don't know what any of them are.

They've all got these like turbo charger

names that I don't quite understand.

Yeah, they're all T28 turbos.

When I had two five, I'm like,

"Is this Volvo?"

No, no, this is just a transporter with some

snotty diesel in it.

Can someone explain?

'Cause I remember there's something about

work vans you can write off on taxes buying

and you set wheels for it, which is why you

see so many vans, I believe,

without the market wheels, 'cause you can

write that off.

So is that partly why they get modified?

Why have you chosen a transporter?

What is it?

An L-Grand?

Is it an L-Grand?

Is this JDM import?

I thought maybe it's for cost.

I haven't seen some of those things for sale.

They're bread.

They're ridiculous.

If you've got, whoa, why do you need this?

I get it, like, some of them might be eight,

I don't know.

I think some of them bigger ones.

I don't know.

Stop having them.

You don't need all them kids.

If all those kids mean you've got to buy an

80 grand people carrier.

Yeah, some of them are very expensive.

Buy two small cars and then have one of the

kids learn to drive.

Or a caravan.

Or a trailer.

Or a trailer with the kids on.

Get a trailer, a horsebox.

A horsebox with all the kids in.

You can do that.

There are more exciting ways to spend 80

grand than a Nissan El Grand.

But that's your beef with VW.

It's not even a beef.

I genuinely would love to know,

is there a tax reason that people go for it?

Is it just because they buy one and they're

like, what is the, cause I've never looked at

one and thought I could make one of those.

Nice.

They have the same vibe to me as to defend the stuff.

Everyone goes, oh, that's really nice.

And I see the back of it, and it's

essentially a prison cell.

Basically, do you mean that,

I'll hear this in my living space.

Oh, the camper can be nice shit here.

Now that's, and then also here's my piss.

Now that's actually, this is prison.

Yeah.

Prison could be better.

This is one for another podcast,

but I'm fully on board with that.

Anything you make out of a car,

look, let the car be a car.

Cars are transporting you to the place.

Exactly.

Pack a tent, go enjoy being in a tent outside

doors, enjoy it.

But if I'm sleeping with like zero headroom.

Yeah, if you're mixing the two,

don't, if I can't sleep on my side,

I don't want to sleep there.

Will's famous quotes.

Transporter, Koopa Granny is back.

The Koopa Grand Mars back.

This happened this morning.

And I also, you'll notice it was all spelled

wrong because I used Siri dictation quite

excitedly to, to explain it.

So if you missed it, a lot of podcasts ago,

five, 10 podcasts ago, I was driving in the

M3 and I had a Koopa R in front of me who was

absolutely sending it around roundabouts,

pulled off alongside.

And it was a lady in her mid to late 60s,

just no, you know, no awareness of what she

was doing, but she was sending it.

I saw her again today.

And someone commented in the comments and

said, yeah, that's the same area where I live.

I let my mom use my Koopa R.

So I think it's fine.

I saw her this morning.

I have the number plate now.

I'm not going to read the full number plate.

But for you, I forget what your name was.

If your number plate, if you have a Koopa R

on, it starts with an R and ends with a P.

That's, that is your Koopa R.

And today she wasn't, she wasn't on it as

much as she would.

Sorry, she was on it.

She'd been rumbled though.

That's why, perhaps.

Yeah.

She's got to keep it down.

No, this morning, the reason it caught my

attention is something flew round,

round about quite quickly in front of me.

I was like, oh, what was that in the distance?

That was weird.

And I got closer.

raw.

Weird thing was, she went right to the next roundabout.

I went stop, got fuel, got to within two

minutes of the unit, not the roundabout.

She flew over it in front of me again.

Just went, she stopped.

No, no, I was coming up to the roundabout.

And she came from the right and just went,

it feels like a need for speed or something

when you find you encounter a racer out in

the open world.

And it's your choice whether or not to race them.

And you know what?

I don't want no smoke.

She'll do me in.

She got years in the game.

I'm not challenging her.

So if that was you in the comments,

please let us know if that is the beginning

of your plate

because your mom's still racing around and

you're not, I

love to sit.

Oh, God.

This is not buying an S2000.

You did talk about on the previous podcast,

or on before our previous podcast that you

were in love with an S2000.

You really want to buy an S2000.

And what an opportunity of course.

A rose today.

Such a fruity, rambunctious little price as well.

For context, if you are around Will or I and

you say, I would like an X, Will or LSE,

I will go and do your bidding.

We will find a thing for you.

We'll sort through the cart.

We should probably offer this as a service.

We'll sort through all of the tat.

We'll sort through, just because we want to,

because we get it's exciting.

And Ben said, I love an S2000.

So we went away and we did what we did best

and looked for the worst one.

And we found one on Copart and said,

Ben, you go brother.

And you know what?

Ben, you explain.

Tell us about it.

Well, number one, I thank you to everyone who

sent me your S2000s for sale.

I haven't got that all you.

I do appreciate it.

I don't have the money, but I appreciate it.

So today we were filming a sponsorship.

And I heard in the background,

the little Copart bidding thing.

You're bitter.

That's the one.

And I went, what are we buying?

We've got enough projects going on.

And then we went, no, no, there's a few.

And I went, well, there's a S2000,

we're buying it.

And I was like, no, I don't know.

No, we didn't say we're buying it.

We said, you're buying.

That's what I mean.

But you're betting on it, you're betting.

I was like, no, I'm not doing that.

And then it came out for sale.

Well, it's going to sound cheap,

but there's also, I'll tell you the issues after that.

It was Β£2,800.

It was to pre-bid that amount.

So I want to pre-bid.

It had quarter panel damage on the rear.

And there was rust on the rear,

rear arches, quarter panel damage on the,

sorry, front wing damage.

So clearly, I don't know, they knocked into a

guardrail or something.

And then it did say, unknown noise from engine bay.

Exactly.

Which is sketchy, to be fair.

100% again.

Could be a B.

That's it.

So, no, and it's a N as well,

non-structural.

And so someone who pre-bid on Copart to Β£2,800.

Very cheap for an S2000.

I mean, the engines alone for S2000s are now,

I think, three and a half, between three and

a half and five, I think.

And so the lock came up and I logged in to our account.

I put the mouse over the bid button and said

Benjamin away with it.

No forcing, no pressure.

You do what you want.

Well, and you chose, no, I mean,

we said, we opposed you.

It was shame.

It was shame.

We advised.

We advised.

That was shame.

Yeah.

And you chose not to, which is,

you know what, fair play to the gang,

fair play to the labs for not caving,

not caving, and just going with what he feels.

He should have caved.

But do you feel, how do you feel now?

I'm upset.

Well, obviously, well hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Oh, it's great.

It is great.

And seeing here now, knowing when for two

eight, okay, that is cheap.

But equally, that could be a lot of issues.

Of course.

Now, do you want me to, do you want to know

the hack, and this is for everyone,

for any time you lose out on an auction,

and you're annoyed about the price it went for?

Yes, it solved two eight, but if Ben went to

two nine, they might have gone to three.

Ben went to three one, they might have gone

to three two, and they, you might have ended

up paying five for that because they really wanted it.

That's the issue with auction prices.

But did no one bid on it?

No one else.

But that one person who you had,

who had, so if Ben had a bid,

someone might have been six and they're

going, I'm paying five for this,

I don't care.

But do you know what?

They also might not.

They might not have, and you'll always have

to live with that.

If they know what it is, which they probably

did, and they pre-bid, because they probably

knew how good the deal was, the chances of

them going, I only have Β£2,800 to my name,

I can't bid another hundred quid.

Yeah, no, that would probably have gone for,

I don't know, three, five, three,

six minimum.

But so, you know what, keep your head up,

Ben, another one.

It's the clear, and do you notice you,

I drove him on the weekend, as I mentioned

earlier on, and because of that,

he just has to stay for now.

I haven't have driven him this weekend,

but you think you would have probably been at all.

So, you brought the, you know what,

Clio proved himself today.

He did.

You drove him here today.

He went stick around.

Bus, don't sell me yet, please.

Bus, I wouldn't, I wouldn't drive him to.

I've got categorized.

That's like taking your girlfriend to meet

your new girlfriend.

That's wild, yeah.

No, so, take your girlfriend somewhere,

and then dumping her, and getting with a

different girl in front of her.

That's part of the one you don't actually know.

No, that would be part exit.

Okay, that would be cheating then,

'cause it would be getting the little girlfriend.

This girlfriend's also like,

did you look, did this one look at like a

nice girlfriend?

He's looking at this one and going,

that's a rough human being.

Yeah.

And you don't know what you get into here.

But there's potential, at least,

at the very minimum you could,

I can fix her.

You have to buy new bits for her?

I don't know.

I don't know how that really works.

I did, I can kind of capture your feelings

because you said you didn't care.

You said you didn't care.

Well, I caught you earlier.

Well, on these very samples,

essentially heading hands, one hand on your

telephone, scrolling through,

and listening on Facebook for an F0000.

And I saw it, and I said, no,

it's a F0000, isn't it?

I was like, how much is that?

You went 17,000.

Yeah, but I don't know.

I can't think it was almost a relation.

Well, I would like to try something else,

but the clear must stay.

I can't keep both because I haven't got the space.

Here's my question for you, Ben.

Yeah.

Make the want for the S2000 even more.

Or has it dashed it?

Because for me, I remember when I decided I

wanted an eight series, I bid on one and I

lost out on one because it just went,

I couldn't afford, it went above my budget.

And it, I remember, I lost the auction and

went, nah, I'm gonna own one of these.

I have to know.

It got me going.

And then other cars, I've lost and I've gone.

Oh well, how set are you on one?

If I'm changing the car, that's what I want.

And you know what, one's coming.

It's happening, but at the same time,

I don't wanna get rid of the clear.

I was thinking this as well,

the clear, I have nowhere to keep it.

I don't have a drop, I have a one car

driveway, which I don't use.

I have two cars already.

I can't get a third car, 'cause I've gotta

pay more tax insurance, it's just not doable.

So I'd have to get rid of the clear,

but then I know I regret getting rid of the clear.

Despite if I got bored of it,

I know in six months time, whatever,

I'd look about it, I go, I'm just gonna let

that thing go.

But then equally, do I just pay for storage

to keep it in dry storage and then just have

a car that someone else could be enjoying.

It's just sitting there going on.

When I--

That's right to let it go.

Sometimes you gotta move on to the next thing.

But sometimes--

Otherwise, you do, will you keep the throw?

I don't know.

Is that good for everyone?

No.

But if it was down to me, I would get

something else, I would keep him.

Hey, man, that's exactly what I said.

Yeah, but--

11 cars ago, Ben.

Yeah, but you have an issue where you can't

set any car now, what?

It's very true.

This is my first guy.

Sad.

My first project guy, so I don't know.

I think Ben's nervous to sell it.

There's a car again.

Yeah.

There's history with Ben.

No, that's going, nothing going.

To me, to me for a gram.

You can buy it.

Probably.

Two and a half.

Ooh, sending a car.

How much do you want the car to sell?

I'll buy it off you.

I'll buy it off you for two.

Can I have two?

Oh, sorry.

Hold on.

You've got an L story of losing out of car adoption too.

Of the Clio.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah, another right now I missed out on.

Yeah.

That was actually--

Yeah, you're deeply upset.

Will's coming like me recently,

for those of you who don't know,

I'm a podcast, I'm now 10 or 11 cars deep and

Will has always been a one car in,

one car out, man.

Yeah.

Although I am at four right

56:09 Car Ownership and Project Cars Discussion

now.

That's what I'm saying.

Highest I've ever been, I'm unsettled.

No, you're at four, but you went to buy a fifth.

I went to my fifth, but there was,

there would have always been a vision to have

got rid of one or two.

See, now that's what I say.

You sound like I know I will.

Okay.

I know I will.

Okay.

Vina wants 350Z hit me up, possibly a Range

Rover as well.

The story about the,

There was a Clio 197 cup that came up for

auction, and what I didn't take note of was

when that auction ended.

I sent it to my dad, I was like,

Yeah.

I think I was trying to deflect from the fact

that I wanted to buy it.

This is great value.

I do that one times.

I find a car I want, go to everyone else.

Look how good this is.

You should bid on this.

And when they go, no, I go, well,

maybe I should then.

But I was scrolling through the pictures,

there's a 197 cup, it's slightly more desirable one.

Yep.

It's got all the nice bits.

It's got the way.

It's got the proper cups of sprinklers.

Scrawl around to the back of the car,

we've got an aftermarket exhaust,

which is always nice to hear.

Description said it was tuned,

it said it had poly bushes.

But more importantly, on the inside of the

car, coming inside the car, we have the carros.

Now, the carros know that the correct value

got sort of 1,000 to 2,000 pounds,

but it increases the value of the car or the

desiderability of the car by quite a lot with

those renos.

And the reserve was three grand.

Which is not.

I thought it was very cheap.

Probably at least four or five grand normally.

The thing to know is that you're again,

which we have talked about in the previous

podcast, right?

Yes.

You're again, they come with the same

recurros, but yours doesn't have them.

So it'd be nice, too.

Put them in.

So I also think I was possibly saying I'd buy

it to take the seats out of,

but what I'd actually do is buy it to keep

it, because it would feel bad to take the

seats out of it and let it die.

Yeah, because it was white, it was exactly

the same white as it was.

There was something in my mind that said

possibly too many Renault's.

I don't want to become that guy.

You don't want to become BMW,

but Renault.

Yeah, I don't know.

I want to experience a variety of cars,

but if I get deep on Renault's,

maybe that's just it for me now.

I'm just Renault's.

You're that guy who, you see that guy next

door, he's got 11 Renault's.

I've got it parked out in the field and he's

like, "I'll get to them one day."

No, I can't be that, but I'm disappointed I

missed out on it, but I think I'm gonna have

to have a reshuffle.

Range Rover and possibly 350 do need to go.

Okay.

350 now, Land Rover, Range Rover thingy later.

I can't have a car that doesn't,

like, this 350, I don't use it as much.

I mean, it bothers me.

Yeah, man, me too, man.

(all laughing)

Right, that's apologies for the

unstructuredness of this, but we had lots of

little bits to get through.

Lots.

Let's end with one of our favorite anecdotes,

one of our favorite sections.

Carspiracies.

Ben, you've teed up a nice one.

I have one, this is on YouTube from P.

Doherty.

Hello, Finlay.

They grit the roads in the UK non-stop

brackets when it might hit zero degrees for

30 seconds because they want us to all buy

new cars after dissolve from salt.

Generating tax revenue on every car sold and

taking old polluting cars off the road.

Also, I messed up the grit order with an extra zero.

Now for the UK, I'm buying the second story a bit more.

Yeah.

But you know what?

I don't know, it feels like the long game though.

Yeah, I think it's not plausible because the

grits, it's rotating your car after 15 to 20 as well.

Also, not after, not immediately.

Also, if the government then did,

if they also then said no car washes,

or they did a hose ban, so you couldn't clean it off.

So you had to have the salt on the car,

then I'm buying it a bit more,

but surely they wouldn't go through that

trouble then go, you can wash it off.

I can see where the conspiracy's going.

I like it.

You know what that is?

That's a strong tin foil theory.

That's big hat.

That's big hat energy.

Big, big tin foil energy.

What else do you got?

Would it really have an effect?

I don't know.

We're thinking about car enthusiasts cars,

AKA, we're probably thinking about Japanese

cars or whatever, things that aren't really

built to deal with it.

Is the government doing it because they're

car enthusiasts and they want people to take

cars off the road and put them in storage for

winter, so they don't get hurt in the winter.

So they don't get crashing.

How many times is there a big old downpour

and then someone crashes a Zonda or a career GT?

They're like, let's stop that.

Sorry, Ben, I sound like Ben for a minute.

(laughs) All right, boys, get out of there,

cover them cars.

Get the gritters out and then stop anyone

mashing up their nice cars.

That'll stick them away for the winter.

Do you think grit has ever helped you?

Sort of feels like a psychologist.

It does feel like a grit.

It has a grit ever saved you.

Your Audi loves grit.

I don't know that it has.

Now maybe it's like a dark night,

you know?

You don't know that it's there.

In the shadows.

In the shadows.

Helping you, yeah.

There's no and with snow you might crash.

Oh, so are you the government?

You know what?

And I say more grit.

But how often?

You see the news and it goes,

there's gonna be snow and ice.

I normally go, like we live in the south.

Yeah.

We're not that far outside London.

I'm not in Wales, I'm not in Scotland.

I normally look at it and go,

I'm probably all right.

But you say that, but then it was,

was it two or three months ago when there was

just a flash snowstorm.

Now in the car, the road outside my house,

people going at two miles an hour and there

were crashes all down it because there was no

grit and people just crashed in the slush and

it was like snow, snow.

Well, I think that's survival of the first.

I agree, I do three.

I do three.

The snow falls, I'm in a fall on the snow.

What?

But yeah, no, I guess it does,

it has to work.

I hate it, can we test it?

Sure.

Someone's tested that shortly.

I want, I want someone to grit a racetrack.

Okay, and then make it icy.

(laughing)

Braggets, I don't know how to do that.

How do we do that?

You know what, Saudi are doing that.

Someone in Saudi go, I can freeze your

racetrack for you.

In Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, but they can do anything.

Yeah, but it's warm.

They make clouds.

They do whatever they want.

They're probably true.

You know what, with a nice money.

They're being seen as some sort of like sci-fi city.

I would love to do, maybe next year,

a snow, I want us to take cars to either like

Scandinavian countries and do the ice lake driving.

But then we can test it there,

we can bring some grit.

No, no, you're melting the lake that we're in.

You brought a gritter to a lake.

That's a great phrase.

You brought a gritter to a lake.

Look, you could bring a horse to water,

but you can't bring a gritter to a lake.

Do you like grit runways?

Yes, they do.

Do they grit runways?

I don't know, I just claimed it.

I think they do.

Did you just lie?

Wow.

No, it's the Volvo all over again.

One of my very good friends is a,

I don't know what he does.

Is he a ground control operator at the airport?

Is he called Major Tom?

No, but he I think is told with the grip.

They must do.

How about this?

Next podcast?

Next podcast, can you bring the information back please?

Everyone in the comments will already have

known because they know.

And they have Google at their fingertips?

Exactly.

But I like that, I think it's a nice place to end.

That's a nice cliffhagger to end on.

Do they grit runways?

Do planes get gritted?

Thank you very much for listening to this

episode of the Cars Rule Everything Around Me podcast.

Thank you very much for listening.

Tune in next week, we

should be back then.

Cream get the money, dollar,

dollar

bill y'all.
