0:00 Ben's Clio Incident
Ben, do you own a set of knee-high socks?
I was against Crocs
heavily.
The Clio fell off the trailer.
It was potentially
some of my fault.
Golf, cars have ruined or rewled our lives this week.
You
know what?
Ben.
I'm not on the move using bully anyway,
but I first podcast back after how many
weeks, two or three?
But it's every Thursday, mate.
You listen to the one last Thursday,
this one's this Thursday.
Spoiler alert, we film in batches.
No, we don't usually, but we did.
The last one we did.
Ben.
We, French people, decided we brought your
clear back from storage on the trailer.
And then we got a call about a unit,
a potential cream unit.
And we were like, let's go have a look at it.
Because we thought, why not?
And it was just on the road.
So I popped off and we said,
you're going to take your car off the trailer.
Anyway, we got back maybe 10 minutes later.
The trailer's still out, for some reason.
Now, I go and park Joe's car,
our editor who kindly lent us a car.
And I could see Will and Ben talking the distance.
And I could tell from Ben's body language,
he was angry.
I can tell I was excited.
I walked up to Ben and I made a joke.
Because we'd been gone for, let's say,
20, 25 minutes or so, driving there and back,
a little walk around, whatever,
came back.
I was like, hopefully by the time we're back
that the trailer has moved, the car is off.
the podcast is half set up.
Nothing had changed apart from the clear not
being on the trailer.
And Ben was like, no, no, no,
it's not what I said.
That's not what I said.
Well, that's to those effect.
Please, let us to those effect.
I just basically said, oh, yeah,
sorry.
I want to say something about the,
I said the Clio had a tough one,
I'll smell like that was my words.
L, tough one.
Something like, it was like casual.
So I was clearly a little.
I would like you to describe what happened so
that we may not put words in your mouth.
We weren't there.
The Clio fell off the trailer.
(laughs) A little bit.
But you said it fell off, I was baffled.
So the trailer is a single unit,
right?
And then it has two ramps that come off the back.
Yeah.
They are the width of, oh, kind of time you might say.
Well, you can just, yeah, and then you can
choose where they go, but on your wheels.
So you had help, you had aid from people.
I had three people helping me.
Perfect, that's the good amount of people you
wanted to know doing that sort of thing.
And you don't have a reverse,
so you were rolling off the trailer.
Basically, one of the guys lifted the trailer
up as to not scratch my front leg.
My hand.
That's my front lip.
Popeye.
That's not scratch my front lip,
ironic now.
So I was facing upwards in the car.
So I was looking pretty much directly upwards.
Tasting upwards.
Oh, you know what I mean.
He put people to seat all the way back.
If no one's a reverse of a trailer before,
you can't really see what's going on.
We didn't reverse of it.
Anyone's ever rolled off a trailer before.
You can't really see what's going on.
So you have to have other people,
a lot of the time, I'm sure there's someone
coming to go, I do it with my shirt.
I'm going.
So I have no arms or legs and I do it.
Yeah, fine, whatever, great,
well then that's great for you.
I have to, what?
I can't see, so I had people helping me.
Right.
So they're at the front going,
yes, straight, yes, straight.
There's a go straight, go straight.
I'm like, cool, I can't see anything around me.
And then they were like, can I just stick it,
pop, kind of as if I was off,
I kind of thought I was off.
I wasn't off, so I start, I never,
Did you know it was, did you get a thumbs up?
No, I didn't get that.
That you was left away.
So what is the just circulation?
It was more like a, basically like a,
you're good, you're good type of thing.
Look, can I get, this is all video.
I don't remember what will, I don't know.
I don't know.
I wanna know what signal you got that went,
this is good.
It wasn't real, is it a thumbs up?
No, that was plain mistake.
There wasn't a definitive like,
you're now off the trailer.
Right.
But it's more of like a, I've thought I could
be
running off for a while.
(laughing)
Do you want me to explain what happened,
or do you, you can heckle afterwards,
but.
(laughing)
Let me explain what happened.
Is what good comedians say.
Let me finish this joke.
Okay, finish that story.
This is a podcast, okay?
Yep.
Let's make it easy to listen to.
Can I just clarify for sure,
that essentially what's happened is at the
end, the wheels were turned,
I'm not saying you turn them,
I'm saying the wheels were turned,
and the car came off the edge of the ramp and
hit its lip on the ramps.
Yeah.
I was just clarifying for people that didn't
maybe know how a ramp works.
Yes, because it's two very basically walks the plank.
Of course.
On each wheel, so what I was almost off,
and I thought I was off, and I just turned a
little bit, because there were cars around
me, I was trying to get around them.
I was aware, I have no reverse,
so I needed to use all the mince my half to
get around this corner.
It's where we're on gravel, hard to push.
Big raindrops.
Yeah.
It was running.
Quite fine raindrops though.
But it's hard to push a car on gravel,
especially when wheels are turning.
That's a quote, I always say that.
I always say it's hard to push a car.
Would you not say it's hard to push a car on
gravel than it is on a normal bit of time act?
I would agree.
How does that relate to the story?
Because I was trying to turn early,
so I'd get around the car with the mince my hat.
I didn't want to get off the trailer,
and then that's turning and get pushed.
So I basically was almost off,
I didn't fall off the trailer,
but I was almost off, and I just turned it a
bit early, and then the front of it,
I think also it slipped a little bit.
It slipped in the wet, and traction was off.
And I basically landed the part in my front
bumper, and I cracked my lower lip.
I'd like to attribute some fault.
We're in a court of law.
Yeah, it's my fault.
Well, fully.
Not fully, would you like to put some,
how much blame?
What percentage of blame?
I don't do blame.
Are you betting on us?
No, 'cause I may recount one thing you said before.
Just like this, just the what,
no, no, I've just wanted to check something,
confirm, you said it was potentially some of my fault.
(laughing)
You know what I said.
I don't know what
I said.
No, you know what, it's tough.
Ben, I'll tell you what, I've done it.
It was really upsetting.
Hey, listen, I said to, 'cause everyone was
apologizing 'cause they were the ones looking
and they all apologized and said,
oh, sorry man, like that, that.
Did you apologize to them?
No.
So you do think it's their fault then?
'Cause otherwise you'd share the blame.
6:30 Golf Car Status Update
Well, I said to them.
If you let me finish.
Is, I said, I said, I basically,
I was like, it was basically nobody was at fault.
It was kind of a mixture of,
no one really said to me like,
they were shouting as it happened,
but no one said, as I started to turn,
yo, you're not off yet.
That was the question being.
Was the shouting related to the car?
It was just general.
Is it, hey man, how's it going?
Yeah, it feels blurry.
Your account of the story, we weren't there.
Yeah, it's hard when you're interrupting your
seconds to account the story.
No, it's not that.
You have to have clarity in these stories.
Yeah, I'm trauma best, man.
'Cause you were saying, you claimed three
people around the car gave you a signal as if
to say the car was off.
I asked you for that signal.
Not what I said.
Not what I said.
I said they were giving the signal as if
like, yeah, basically, what they were
basically saying was you're good to go back,
but I can't tuck that as obviously.
You're off the trailer.
Oh, okay, it was a 360.
Oh, J-turn, you mean?
Whatever I say.
Will not be true, so it doesn't matter what I say.
Well, you ended up with a cracked sweater.
Is no one's fault, I'm not annoyed at anyone.
I'm actually not myself, for me honest,
because I shouldn't have turned the wheel.
Right.
I will say, would have been great if someone
had said to me, yo, you're turning your
wheels, don't do that.
But then also, to be fair to them,
that car, as we know, the steering is pretty mashed.
So, it might not have looked like it was
turning, 'cause I was turning the wheel.
This is true.
It might not look like it.
So, thrice straight enough, Clio is now.
So, all that happened was that it cracked the
front splitter.
So it's fixable, it's fine, I was a bit
frustrated in the moment, and then obviously
these two coming to heckle me,
did not help that.
And then that entered your mind in the process.
There was a bit we had to push it off the
trailer, like the last bit, we had to get it,
'cause it was like a little bit.
It was still on there.
You have to sort of like lift it and pull it
over, where it's put up a little bit stuck.
So,
I was thinking like, yo, if they come out of
the corner now,
back from this thing, let me see this.
I just don't want to
see it.
Now, more importantly, we have Renault people listening.
You have a one line seven, it's a F1 front
lip, yeah, or cup, whatever.
Yeah, sounds rare.
One, let Ben know he needs one.
Well, he's a just plastic, well,
that one.
It'd be fair, I think if you plast it right
with it from the rear, it would have a little
right line in it.
I'm not upset about that, I was just more,
I'm frustrated with myself, it's not a fault.
You're not angry or disappointed.
In myself, yeah.
'Cause it's my fault, I'm not denying,
it's my fault.
Partially, maybe your fault.
It's my fault.
I never denied it wasn't my fault.
I never went, whoa, bloody hell,
you could have told me.
You could have, but it's not joking.
It's my fault for turning, but yeah,
I, yeah.
This lady's not for turning.
I'm now scared of taking cars off training.
So now he's got an extra thing to fix.
So I need to ask John very nicely.
My fault is looking toasty.
Will sent me some seats.
I did, I'm, which I also, I know that if I
keep sending you stuff, I have a leg to stand on that.
If you buy the seat that I send you,
I go, well, I did send you that.
Can I say something?
Yeah.
Please.
You surprised me.
I was sat at home letting the evening.
I'm watching a bit of TV, I'm relaxed.
Please, I'm calm.
Are you in the driver's seat?
Absolutely, I'm in the driver's seat.
Right, that's me on the TV.
Watching TV and I was thinking,
God, I'm in my half place right now,
she relax, no one heckling me.
Get an action wheel ping, here it comes,
photo going.
What was the wording you put?
It was, no, it was actually very nice at the beginning.
That's what shocked me.
It was, it was, hey, Ash, shout out,
Ash who does our Renault parts.
Ash has a set of Recaro yellow dots for sale.
Potentially of interest for you,
Ben.
In good condition for a good price.
Very good condition.
I looked at and thought, that's nice,
actually, I'd like those.
And then I thought, I can't be doing that.
Currently, 'cause I have to fix the car first.
So I was like, right now, I've got a word,
a message that says no, without it,
we'll come back and go.
No, you wouldn't buy them, I was only sending
them as a joke.
Now, from memory, your response,
it started off like, yeah, I'm going to have
to, oh, you've got that.
Could you give me a moment of wording?
Please read it out loud for later.
So I, at Ben Rogers, bracket is 95.
Fair enough.
Old Ash break a man has some yellow dots for you.
Picture sent, fantastic condition.
I won't say the price in case he wants to go
and sell to someone else for much more money.
Fair.
Very good price.
It was good price.
For ones that aren't holy.
Shut up.
Shut up, holy.
Shut up, holy.
You responded.
20 minutes later.
I had to sit for a bit.
He chewed.
That's fantastic news.
No, I saw that.
And I broke the munchly.
And I went, wow.
I would, here we go.
When I saw that, that's fantastic news.
I thought it could go either way.
See, I thought it was a, that's,
okay, we're in.
Two points that I still stand by.
That was great news.
Yeah.
And I would like the munchly.
Yeah, fair.
I don't like, I haven't lied,
unless I fail.
Alas, alas though, I don't have the available
funds currently.
Now, I do like, not only do we make bets like
medieval peasants, we do also speak to each
other like medieval peasants a lot of time.
Yeah.
I then sent you a random photo I have of Tom
Lenholz staring at me and said,
my honest reaction.
We'll send that to deck for an overlay.
So, a bit like your trailer issue,
I wasn't surprised, I was just disappointed.
You weren't surprised at the trailer.
I was quite surprised.
You weren't angry, you were disappointed.
Yeah.
Yeah, myself.
Because I just thought you know that you
aren't willing to really push the limits of
your finances.
(laughs) Ruin by going, I can't afford that,
but that is a good price.
How about?
And therefore, let me move some funds around.
Let's cut the pension funds in Barbados for the workers.
We'll free up some funds.
Only place on earth this unit is where you
get bullied for not spending all of your money.
But it's a good price, though.
It's a great price.
And I keep seeing them for double that.
Why don't you double that?
You double that.
Yeah, double.
And I've seen them for that.
I have.
They're not selling for that,
though.
No, yeah, I saw on the other day self that.
They're disappearing.
Go look on eBay, sold.
I know, really.
Tough times.
Let's talk about your financial relationship.
No, no, think of it as an investment.
That's what I was gonna say.
I think that's an investment,
is it?
I know, but that's, I think that is where the
brain differentiation when you get so deep
into cars that you go, but when I sell it,
it'll be worth that again.
Recurrence is an investment,
no.
No, but recurrence is a car.
They are an investment, they're going a Rolex.
They've gone up.
Talk about that, go on.
Because, you know, we're not all Rolexes.
Not many.
But traditionally, you buy one,
if you can buy it new, it was better,
but anyway, they tend to hold some value or
go up in value.
Then you buy.
I know, that's why I said that.
Of course, that's why I've already said that.
A lot of them go down.
Yeah, well, equally, if you go and buy some
Zafira ocaros, those aren't gonna be in there.
But a lot of them go down.
You spend a thousand pounds on...
Dom.
Gucci flip-flops.
Well, I'll hit you bitch with my sock.
(laughs)
Then that's gonna go down in price,
or a thousand pounds on something.
Or a horse racing.
That's not gonna go down.
Well, it might go up.
That's an investment.
And you can only lose 100% of your money.
You can make 4,000.
Hold on, gambling might be an investment.
(laughs)
It's not, we have to say, it's traditional advice.
If you look at the, if you get some graphs
going, if someone gets some graphs going,
rakaro's yeses are, they're just great value.
Look at the rakaro LS seat from the '80s,
a seat that was for a long time worth $300.
Now worth thousands of dollars.
We've opened up on the market.
This is seat trading.
It's unfortunate, but you are probably right.
Yeah, you're probably right,
man.
Does it make me have any more money though?
I think they are.
We're running a pyramid scheme here.
If I buy a set of seats and you each buy one
of them each, and then you each go and buy
one each, we'll make a pyramid out of this thing.
Unless I'm making money from this
conversation, I still can't buy them.
I can't.
Overall, what are you saying?
For me, it's going to be overall the golf is
working, although it did get covered in po.
So much so that you can't open your fuel flap.
Yeah, because it's covered in po.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
(laughing)
I was in the patch and I was like--
Are you saying it is masked,
it's shut?
There was one--
No, no, no.
What's the point?
There's one corner, like--
Yours.
Diarrhea.
Oh, fantastic.
Nice one to come back to the focus.
I have a time assuming bird as well.
A part under a tree, and one side of the car
was just caked in it, and then it started
raining, and you won't actually watch the po
off, it's just making it into this liquid form.
Fantastic.
And it's going down into my--
I actually looked in the--
It's in my field cap.
It's in my turds, so I'm gonna wash that out.
'Cause it's now running on shit.
Yeah, Octane Booster.
Yeah, it's fantastic, so apart from that,
all good.
Okay, it doesn't, I'll be honest,
it doesn't sound like a rule,
but fair enough.
Well, it's still working.
Well, I mean, we can't reveal what's
happening, but in a few weeks,
we're in a few weeks, it'll be out.
We can revert, you made an Instagram where it was in.
No, it's in the result.
Oh, not the result, but tell 'em what happened.
What was yesterday?
What were we doing?
Mercilango.
Yeah, we had to put a gun.
The process of engine out has officially begun.
15:00 Engine Out Process Details
I'm kind of booked in for now.
I've been nervous about it.
And I knew there would be some costs that
would prop up, but I didn't think it would
kind of be, whatever cost could have popped
up has popped up so far.
So the engine, it's not really a spoiler
because it's meant to happen in the video.
It is out, apparently.
We're gonna call the engine out,
but I'm not gonna tell you what happened to this video.
Ben pumped it out.
Yeah, I removed it.
So we went over to SBR and we did it with
them, and we have to say, God,
my God, they did it with some speed.
But realistically, we hindered.
Barry, who I think likes us,
treated us with some disdain throughout the process.
I was genuinely mega, it almost sounds a bit
condescending.
I was mega impressed by it.
I was going to
be the way, but it's like, people think that
you guys are mechanics, and I work with you
guys a lot, possibly too
much.
And whenever we go somewhere there's
specialists, people who know what they're
doing, my God, is there a difference?
That engine, right?
We started at what?
10.30, taking it out.
We lingered around for a bit.
We looked at it, it was 11, we started,
it was out by three with a 45 minute Nando's
lunch in between.
A long table lunch as well.
A big table shower.
And it's not like it's an easy engine to
remove, that's a lump out.
It's almost like they've done it before.
You're crazy, isn't it?
It sounds dumb to say that they're good at
it, obviously they are.
It's almost like they specialize in it.
It's absolutely not.
It's just meant to me, it really shows just
how incompetent you guys are.
Yeah, I'll admit that's actually fair.
I mean, it's the equation as well,
my god.
I did say, if I had a space that I could
leave that car, where you could take the
engine out and I could leave it,
like we can't leave cars here for like the
huge amount of time, barring me 55,
but I mean, we can't really do that.
We never want to do it again.
So if I had that, I would actually love to
give it a, so the next time that we will have
to come in.
You want to do it at some point,
but hopefully it's years down the line.
Now, before, when you showed me,
the people had these trebuchet contraptions,
it was just an engine crane that came out.
And do you know what?
No, I do not, I think so too.
It came as a unit.
Like a lot of other cars, you have to go and
disconnect the gearbox behind.
Yeah.
And you have to deal with all sorts of stuff.
All of the wiring just kind of flipped over
and onto it.
Yeah.
Now granted, this is because Barry was just
doing it easily.
Yeah.
We'd go to the bottom and go,
"I guess I'll just take that out."
And he'd go, "No, no, no, you don't need to do that."
Yeah, but he was under the car,
I was like, "Just make sure it cleared that."
But I was like, "Okay, reading about how it's
going to come out at some ridiculous angle,
you've got to do some."
It was steep, but it wasn't crazy.
Yeah, it wasn't mental.
similar angles on it before.
I've got close to that.
Yeah.
But it's out the gearbox has come off.
I had a look at the clutch this morning.
Well, there's the story there.
Yeah.
There's something is happening.
Yeah.
And for
that reason, I'm pricing up everything.
I'm looking at like, is that a little bit
left of royal over there?
Is that worth anything?
Can I sell that?
Is that five guys cup?
Can we sell that?
Could I sell that?
Is that worth something?
There's some large costs involved,
but you play supercar games,
you win supercar prizes.
This is exactly it.
So I knew what happened.
I was hoping it wouldn't be that soon,
but it means the car will be good for many
years to come.
Yeah.
And rather than like just, yeah,
cheaping out on it and going,
"Oh, I won't bother doing that."
And then having to do it next year,
you know, cut to next year and me taking the
engine out again, probably for some ridiculous reason.
But it means I can sort everything out on
that car now.
And also it will sound a bit better as well.
Yeah.
Because it would have been so close to being
a rule because of the M3, the M3 we haven't talked about.
Oh yeah.
It's just basically revealed.
It was all a bit like last minute to be fair,
but the M3 is now painted.
Did you mention that?
Did I say it was going to have a glass out re-spray?
Yeah, I didn't say it was, but I hadn't seen
it by much.
No.
It is fantastic.
I didn't see it for two weeks.
Chris at Imagination Creations did it.
And I had no idea it would be a food and fuel.
And he said to me, "That's what I made me for.
I'll get it done for that."
So it's like all new trims, but I need to put
the M3 badge on.
And then I think from tomorrow,
I'm filming another video, like a final video on that.
Finishing everything, it's really cool mods,
seats, just a lot of some cool bits to finish it off.
This car, even though it's kind of,
it's not that big of a, well,
it is in terms of like value and that sort of
stuff, but it's not the most we've done to a car.
It's not like taking the engine out.
No, but I still, it's actually one of my
favorite cars we've ever done.
It feels like a huge transformation on that car.
Oh yeah.
It's one of those cars that's exactly how we
would do a car.
I mean, it's your car.
So yeah.
But this is exactly how I would build in the
IT2 and 3.
Yeah.
This is us.
TDC car.
Yeah, I just like, I sat in it today and I
thought, "Blimey, this car is..."
I don't know why "Blimey" was funny to me.
Blimey.
It's bloody hell.
Bleeding.
Tom Scott on the...
That's what I said to me.
That's what I said to me.
That's what I imagined.
That's why I lied.
I just thought this car is unbelievably nice.
And it's just a lot of money that's been
spent on it now.
We were driving, Ben and I drove behind it
while picking up the Clio.
It's just a fantastic noise.
I forgot how good it sounds and it is truly dependent.
We were talking.
And tomorrow it will sound even better,
hopefully.
Oh yeah.
Will it?
Yeah.
The front end.
Oh yeah.
'Cause you're fitting a whistle to it.
We were behind you and we were talking in a
Land Rover, which is relatively soundproof.
We always keep pausing our conversation.
Every time you did an acceleration,
we were just stopping.
I was in the middle of explaining things to
Ben and I go, I would go, and then you'd have
thought I'd go.
Anyway, that's what I'm saying was,
so overall it's a ruin though still.
Yeah, they're sort of fine.
I'm still, I'd love to say it's rule 'cause
even though the cost is massive,
I'm so excited to have a commercial I'll go
back 'cause it's gonna be, it's gonna sound better.
And knowing that the weather's gonna be crap
are we gonna go off and have suspension
sorted and then potentially go off and then
have maybe some paintwork sorted as well,
but it's getting there.
Yeah, my car is getting there and yeah,
it's close to being just right.
I'm a bit worried it'll become too nice.
And then, 'cause I'm not worried about using
it, but it felt like something I could just
use all the time.
So as long as it still feels like that,
I might leave the paintwork for a bit.
But if it drives right, that's gonna,
yeah.
I think it's a look right and sound right,
then I'd be cool.
Right.
Oh, is that same color?
But would you do a Windows out by this?
'Cause surely it's worth it.
Not at this, at some point would you?
Because that's something I let you down.
At some point, yeah.
Yeah, I think I would.
It gets very expensive doing that on a,
I've seen some eye watering numbers painting
worship 'cause it's all carbon.
Yeah.
And because you're stripping a lot of panels
off and there's a lot of shit you need to be doing.
I was talking to Chris at the imagination,
Creations about this.
A lot of times whenever I see,
you see a supercar or like a classic car get
restored and it says like 20 grand paint job.
He was saying like, that's not them inflating.
That's not them inflating numbers just
because it's, you know, they can get more
money out of supercar.
And it's because of the amount of time they
have to put into it.
Instead of a panel, a modern panel like this
being just sanded down and then painted
quickly, they make sure every,
because you want it to be perfect.
Every ripple, every den, every,
everything gets pulled out and the prep time
is five times as long.
Yeah.
of stories of people getting,
you know, 20 grand in and getting a okay job,
not like nothing concours worthy.
That's crazy to me.
But there's that much of a disparity in just
time and prep to make it perfect.
Yeah.
But it's, I would love to do it at some
point, but I, at some point in its life,
it deserves some sort of restoration.
But right now, I just want to get it so it's usable.
Yeah.
But it's going to get ice blasted and everything.
So it will still look pretty nice.
Just the bodywork will be a bit dirty.
I found a company that makes those headlight
lenses as well.
That's cool.
Expensive, but way less, way better than buddy.
Because the plastic one really lets you down.
You can see it has like a wavy part.
Yeah, it's just not great.
So just doing all those bits will will add up
and then hopefully have the door open nicely.
No matter, I just, it's, to me,
it's fine as it is at the moment,
as long as it sounds good.
It's a usable cool car.
I keep, yesterday at SPR just kept looking at it.
I was like, this is still the coolest.
Yeah.
I just have that one again.
It just, it's just, even with the engine out,
it just looks like nuts.
It looks cool.
There was also another, there was an LP640
next to it.
I keep looking at them both and going,
that's cool, man.
I was sat, we were sat there at,
at our lunch, our makeshift lunch table,
with a guy from SPR.
It was like six or seven hours.
And I thought, well, how the bloody hell have
TDC managed to do this?
How are we doing this?
We were, most of all, go up on the left and
then a couple of five of them are around.
There's five fifties around.
There's a race car.
There's, and yeah, it was just cool.
Three to advantage.
You've manual swap to your original manual.
That was a manual one, but it's not mine.
No, it's not yours.
No, no, no.
How many have you got now?
I've driven an ortho trailer.
Oh, for a read off.
Yeah.
I have a nice one as well.
I think, I want, my default wants to say ruin.
You will see why in the second episode of the
Alfred M.A.O.
with the A, it is interesting.
That is certain, you know, I was about to say
certainly a car.
It's not a car.
It's mostly fiberglass and filler.
It's more of a sort of die-cast model.
24:00 Clio Restoration and E36 Return
Actually, it's not even.
A die-cast model is a bit more.
It's an air-fix model is what that is.
There is Bob at the machine shop,
Ultra Mega Shoutout to him.
He said to me, he said, "I took Alex's
Colton, Alex from the Auto Outreach Channel.
"We took his Colton on.
"He told me it would take two days.
"It took me two weeks."
And I said, "How long do you think this half
will take me?"
I said, "I'll say two days."
I don't think it's that hard.
It's a kit with two and a half weeks in.
We're two and a half weeks in right now.
He's still going.
So I said to him, "I'm very sorry about this."
He said, "Don't worry, we'll get it going."
But it's tough.
But I'm gonna say rule, because I have my clear back.
I actually put in, in our chat,
while you're away, Clio ruined,
to talk about, which was that my friend,
Evie, and you might have seen it on the same
channel now, sold my original Clio that I'd
sold to him to someone else.
And I thought I was never gonna get it back,
but then managed to wrangle a deal and get it back.
But the best thing about that,
now that's my girlfriend's car,
which means I have my E36 Saloon back.
You know, the moment the rain hit,
and I start driving that, I was home again.
Every time I used to drive to,
this is your garage at previous unnamed job.
It would always be lashing it down with rain,
and I'd just be cozy.
That car is cozy, is what that is.
We're gonna have to luncheon it today.
It just feels right.
It is very soft and warm feeling.
I just love it.
It's an old pair of Scrippers.
Scrippers, is what that is.
Is it?
It's like your granddad.
Okay.
It's like a nice guy, you know.
Any other parallels.
Get your nan.
It's your granddad.
I guess that I see what you're saying.
My granddad was all kinds of cozy quarters.
How do you know he's cozy?
You've never said he's cozy.
How do you feel in relation to you?
You feel cozy?
I'm cozier.
I'm A.
In him.
Near him.
In the back of him.
He looks cozy.
I was cozy.
The back of Edwin's granddad on lunch.
On lunch?
It's not a great one to hear about.
What happened to him?
Don't worry about that.
We're saying it's comfortable.
It's like an old man because it's an old car
and it feels like an old man's car and it
feels cozy like an old man.
That's a good explanation.
Broke out the word count.
I don't know.
Keep speaking.
I think so.
That leaves us with two rules.
No, you're in.
It's just...
I'm a rule.
Yeah, so I mean, so two rules are in.
So we're carrying on the trend of being all
over the place.
I do have one other thing to add and it's
unfortunately unlikely to happen now because
of, you know, there are now car-sized costs
for one car, basically.
is that I got offered a very cool car recently.
I got offered a Mark II RS.
And it's actually not something I've really
been thinking about.
If anything, I've been thinking about Mark
Gonsmoor because they're just always thinking
about them.
Now, for those that don't know,
you're three-ish.
You're two and a half deep.
Two and a...
Well, two RS is two STs, technically.
One of those STs being an RS rep in
performance blue, but a follower/subscribers,
possibly cream less than I can't remember.
Shout out.
He will be now, hopefully.
I had a...
I'm not too focused on RS.
It's been off the road for five years.
It felt very similar to the M3,
and I thought, "This is great."
We'll just buy these people's projects that
have been sapped out of.
How long has it been sapped?
Five years.
Fantastic.
Because, most of you I go, sapped five years.
So, if it's anything more or less than that,
I do not care.
You didn't know, but if it's...
Five years, there's just a nice number.
If it's four and a half, wait a couple
months, then we'll be able to buy it.
But he sent it to me, and it's in a condition of sorts.
It's not awful.
It has really cool modifications.
It's stuff I really want.
Again, I can't go and see the car because it
smiles away, and I'm probably going to have
to rule it out entirely now because of Mercilago stuff.
But nonetheless, I did a car vertical check on it.
So I did a check on it because let me just run the...
Let me just get some details on this car as
much as I can without going to see the car
because that's the beauty of doing a car
vertical before you even buy a car is because
you can check a load of information before
you actually view it so that if you do
actually go and view it, you've got way more
data and information to either get the right
deal or figure out if it's got damage.
28:00 Mark II RS Offer Discussion
And
always remember that you can use our code
"CREAM" for
20% off your next car vertical check.
Shout out to all the
creamers that have been using it.
As always, Car Vertical,
tell us you guys always use our codes.
And we're mega
thankful for you doing that.
And also, shout out Car
Vertical.
You can bundle a load of them together,
get up to 50% off your car.
If you know you're going to be doing multiple this year.
Boss, at the back of it.
Have you seen it Ben?
Yes.
But then they put these vents,
they're just covers that go on it,
that have like louvers value.
What's it for?
Like a sort of 60s Mustang.
But what's it doing?
I thought it was not meant to make it look
like an intake.
But it's a front engine car.
In Jibout.
And knowing Golf's, listen, they will intake
water in Jibout.
60s Mustangs had it and it was functional.
I think something would fake I think.
So maybe that's- so maybe it was like an A
like a- but they always, they look like shit.
They have like full.
Do you know what they look like?
They look like something you'd buy at
Screwfix for some sort of building material.
Yeah.
There's some sort of vent for a,
like a boiler room or something.
They're the RS vent of German cars.
But they, every time I see them,
it's always on a completely stock otherwise
Mark VI Golf.
Yeah.
What are they doing?
I know that not all mods have to be
functional, but there has to be some form of
this is, this is for something.
There's a reason to- together rather than go,
this is random vents and then nothing else.
But is it, I don't understand,
is it to like darken it?
Is it to tint?
Is it like a DIY version of that?
Is it privacy?
But then the rest of the window,
it doesn't have it.
I don't get it.
I don't understand.
I need someone to explain to me why they do it.
I think it's, it's that thing where you feel
the need to modify, but you don't,
either you have nothing else,
you have nothing to do to that car.
So you just buy stick on things.
Yeah.
It's always that, but I'm like,
but sometimes like you said,
it's just, it's just that.
It's just that and some rear spats,
but not a front, I don't know,
it's just weird.
Stick on things are usually fairly shit.
So I, what I would like to see is if there
are any creamers that know, because I'm
hoping that no creamers have done this,
unless by proxy, you're just,
you're happening to walk past someone
listening to this right now and you've heard
me talk about this.
If you're an actual creamer,
we're going to hope that you don't do this.
I'd like to find out if you know someone that has why.
And is it, is it just,
31:00 Creamers at Food and Fuel Event
they think it looks cool, in which case,
I have a bad news for you.
A bad new singular.
A big, big, big, bad news for you.
One single bad news.
Speaking of creamers, actually,
we met some creamers.
Where's that then?
That food and fuel.
Oh yeah, hell yeah.
I'm trying to remember to mention that.
We met many, many.
And creamers.
Ben, did we see it?
Oh, the t-shirts.
Oh, wow.
How do we feel about that?
Odd.
Yeah.
Really odd.
Haven't explained to my brother.
No, you, you are, that's there.
Your brother and some of your friends came
food and fuel.
What do they think?
Kind of funny, but they're like,
okay, that's interesting.
Why are you off the t-shirt over there?
Well, Mum made a custom t-shirt.
Yeah, he did.
You will be hearing from our lawyers.
Will you find something?
No, it was a slogan on it.
But our lawyers have eliminated him already,
I think.
And he was doing much quality control.
I was, it was double checking.
I meant to say this, if you have,
if you, any of you are much-rived and there
was a rip or a tear or the, called the,
what do you call it, print was phased or
anything, please send us an email and we'll
have a look into it and that sort of stuff.
So, 'cause we wanna make sure everyone's
happy with their stuff.
But shout out all the creams that have bought
their merch, they'll be a new drop,
hopefully coming for Christmas.
And it's gonna be Ben as a bauble.
Is it?
Yeah, the first I'm hearing this.
No, it's not.
Bauble Ben.
Ben, what would you, what, you know what,
not necessarily for Christmas,
what piece of merch would you like to sell one day?
I'd like to sell, I'd like to sell socks.
They're just like, they're just normal.
Like they don't have any-
Just a six pack of socks.
Yeah, it's just a six pack of box socks.
No.
We're now TK Max.
Yeah, no, I would like actually a body warmer.
But full body.
Yeah, but like long, I don't have my feet,
like a dress.
Like a, like a football managers one.
Yeah.
Or like a sort of onesie.
Well, those snow suits, they get to kids.
They're like, it's like a puffer jacket,
but all the way up.
Yeah, that's what I mean, yeah.
Well, that's a big fantasy.
One of those, like a worm.
Yeah.
I've just been in the unit all cozy.
I get chilly.
What color would you like it?
Feels like Michael White's name.
I like it white.
So if I were, I looked like Bobendom,
the Michelin Man.
I'd hate to see you in that.
What shoes would we call it?
I'd hate to.
Shoes would be very simple.
They have to be a collab, though.
What kind of shoe?
A van skate high.
I'd love that.
I'd like it to be a brogue.
Slippers.
Oh, you mean like, you won't be like...
Cream slippers to be driving only 36 in.
I don't think it's quite legal,
but anyway.
Do you know what?
I actually genuinely would love a Cream X crop.
A Crocs collab, that would be great.
And that's what Crocs are a big star.
Will loves, can we talk about it before?
My Crocs were gifted to me as a Christmas
gift by my girlfriend's nieces.
And they have, what are they called,
I think they're called jibbits.
Indeed.
I think they're called, they are all jibbits.
That's the most animated I've seen Ben today.
No, that's it, that's the technical term.
What's that jewelry brand where you can put
things on a bracelet?
Not Tiffany, it's the other one.
Pandora.
Pandora, where you get like,
jibbits, they're like jibbits.
You know people who don't know what they are,
what are you talking about?
So there are things you stick in your shoe,
your crocs have holes in, you can stick them in there.
Maybe we can, if we can't make a croc,
maybe we can make a cream jibbit.
Cream jibbit would be cool.
Cream jibbits would be great.
It's just a little Ben face.
But they gave me, they bought me those and
they gave me some jibbits that say number one will.
So one shoes, number one.
I think we have, it goes like number one
will, if you have to read it across.
Yeah, I lost all of them.
I think it says one and then like two L's.
One L.
But they are worn now.
I'll use them.
If I'm doing anything that's like at Carl's
stuff at home or garden, I'm Crocs.
I was against Crocs heavily.
(laughing)
Deck,
there it is, that's part of the intro.
I was deeply against
Crocs, I thought you can't be seen wearing Crocs.
And I do
still believe outdoor wearing of Crocs.
At the house,
they are psychotic behavior.
They are for the home only.
It's like going out in slippers,
why would you do that?
Yes, many times.
You know what, I can't do slippers.
I don't like the fact that there's no sport,
I don't like it.
I don't get slippers, that annoys me.
That annoys me.
What's the point?
It should be held to my foot.
That's the whole point.
While we're in slippers, what's the point?
But also, I'm inside.
But my biggest thing is why you have to
scrunch your toes up to hold them on to your feet.
Well, you can get slippers with backs on them.
Where's that?
That's just a shoe.
I have a shoe.
Yeah.
(laughing)
And where's the slippers on it,
indoor shoes, where's the point?
That's a plimp sole, then.
No, it's a slipper.
Then where's Valerie in a shoe?
I don't wear shoes in the house,
that's weird.
I don't wear slippers as long as.
I do wear cozy socks and slippers.
Are those your socks?
Ben, do you own a set of knee-high socks?
No, I don't.
I'll be crazy.
(laughing)
It's got those like blood clots socks.
Blood clots socks.
(laughing) (laughing) (laughing)
You mean the deep vein from me?
Yeah, he's got those, I have to put these on,
otherwise I'll get blood clotting in my legs.
Sorry, you have to put these on,
otherwise I'll get blood clotting in my eggs.
In my eggs?
What are you talking about?
What are we talking about?
Pies, I've eaten.
(laughing)
Oh yeah, we're talking about merch,
everyone.
So you won't choose.
Sure, yeah.
I'd like a football shirt.
I don't want that.
A football shirt would be cool.
Would it?
No, it would be cool.
It would be cool.
Having like a branded book with like,
you know, D-bingles co, like being sponsored.
And we could do the image, like the promotion
thing we could do is assigning you,
Ben.
Why'd you be signing me?
Or selling you.
Oh yeah, to somewhere else.
Fantastic.
Yeah.
I'll take any of these.
Gama FC, if you get far away.
We regret to inform you that Benjamin Rogers
has left the football club.
Does Barbados, Barbados must have a football team?
Surely.
Yeah.
We had a Barbadosian, is what it is?
Yeah.
Bayesian Creamer get in contact.
Oh fantastic.
And say, not only am I probably your only
actual Bayesian Creamer, I have some
information for you.
Information, yeah, I don't know.
Sorry, I need that so that Ben can understand it.
He had information about Barbados' number plates.
Oh.
He said, "Hello Chaps, as potentially your
only Bayesian Creamer "further to your most
recent episode, "I thought you'd find this
interesting, "considered, considering our
hallowed mare "is part of the podcast."
Barbados is an ex-British colony,
so the plates are pretty similar to original
English plates, i.e.
letter corresponding to a parish,
county, followed by up to four numbers.
This format remains today as the island is
tiny and plates don't always die with the cars.
The most desirable are single digit plates,
however, there's very rarely trade hands,
as they are almost exclusively belong to old
wealthy families.
The most interesting one I know is M6,
which is on a black 993.
I've attached some photos, and there is,
we'll put these photos off the screen,
an Evo 5 with J12, but he said it also,
this MX5, which is T2, but very small,
really
quite small, and then this one I like,
which is just a huge
X3 on the back of a car.
We'll overlay the photos, but Ben,
they're like historic ones.
I wasn't in a tower actually.
Were you among people?
From the castle, sorry, that you're among people.
There were other people around us.
Yeah, sort of serving you food and
fantastic.
It's a lovely place, if you ever want to visit.
What's the tail number on the PJ?
I can't tell you that kind of thing,
you wouldn't know.
We'll get you on a flight tracker one day,
flight radar even.
Shout out Barbados.
Shout out Barbasian Creamer.
We should go there for a video.
Creamer of the week.
We have said for, at some point,
we want to do, maybe at 500,
what episode of 1000, we're not going to say anything.
We're not going to hype it.
We're just going to be on a Barbados speech.
I'll be there for that.
Of course you will.
When you think we're there.
Ben, can we do it whenever you get married to Will?
I don't know why this comes up a lot,
but go on.
Can you do it Barbados?
Can you do it Barbados?
Can you do it?
Okay, if you were a pay, yeah,
sure.
I'm not going to get married to the money.
I'm not going halfway across the world for your joke.
This is about love, Ben.
You don't think your wedding would be a
little bit more romantic if it was in Barbados?
Potentially, but if we were to add a
percentage of the cost, 0.01.
Is it 100%?
No, I
won't be doing that.
I'm also not getting married any time soon.
You should.
Okay, why is that?
Why don't you get married?
You could like 90.
Also, famous age for people to get married?
I don't know.
What were you going to say about this?
Nothing.
Just have one in Barbados.
Make it make sense.
Sure.
Cool.
Are we really craving a beige?
Make your beige and then all the creamers.
I've been craving a beige and fish cake recently.
Anyone?
Okay.
That's fantastic.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We need to find a little local Barbados cuisine.
A lot.
I couldn't find anything.
You could find it.
So you've already done.
Well, we got an excellent list.
Ben, you've put in something about a
doppelganger that you've spotted on the M4.
It was, yeah.
Editha Mike from Autopelix showed me this.
He was on the deep in the Reddit threads.
And somebody said, I've seen Ben on the motorway.
I've seen him in the Clio.
40:00 Doppelganger on M4 Incident
Yep, the plate, CL10 while I've seen him,
he was cruising back by, not my car.
And they were all like, yeah,
no, excuse me.
I was going forwards.
So it was a possibility.
Yeah, I was flipping off a trailer.
But they were like, yeah, I saw him.
And they were like, I saw him.
Maybe you just saw a liquid,
you know, clear, but they're like,
are they saying at X time?
Or are they saying, like, I have seen this before?
This was a couple of weeks ago.
I saw him today or whatever it was.
Where is that wording?
I think it was M4, they said.
But they said they saw you driving because
surely it was on the trailer.
Then you find out the message.
It was a while, you know.
Now I have seen, I saw the other day,
well, we were on the way to go and collect
Joar Editor's new car, which is next door,
which is why we're not next door,
'cause you can't see that 'cause it's a spoiler.
I saw a 197 yellow.
I don't know why I forgot the word for the liquid yellow.
And did you know who was driving it?
Ben Roger.
Two people in a couple in their 70s,
I would say.
Really?
And it was the woman driving and a man in the
passenger seat.
Just happy and just coming around around
about, not going crazy.
Going forwards though.
They were moving at a normal speed.
She also did shift gear, which is an
interesting one to see.
Straight frontways into a parking space,
never to come back out again.
So you know, on Reddit, you have,
I
don't know.
The other title, it's like, yo,
here's the
subject to my email, here's my email.
Okay, so the subject is CL10,
why I like my play.
On the end of the fourth, they're driving
Eastbound, makes sense, thought these guys
were near redding, and saw a yellow gold
clear, not the color.
It pointed out, to my fiancee,
I've always liked that color,
a channel I watch has one, got close,
in fact, it was indeed CL10 YLO.
Didn't have Edwin, Will or Ben in it,
so I was wondering if they still own it.
That would make sense, that would also,
why would we be driving your car?
I don't know, but why would it,
what, why would?
So someone's duped your plate,
Ben.
That might be the case, and all this person can't read.
That's also possible.
But what could we be looking at here?
We could be looking at- Yes,
indeed.
Or is it just like a Hyundai Turbian Tiburon
in yellow, that someone they may be on,
they don't know.
Well, three things have happened,
right.
Plate's been cloned, which is great,
I've had that happen before,
really don't want that.
You can't see the plate properly and you've
got that wrong, fair enough.
Could be a 1.82.
What's the third option there?
It was you, I was going to start- Oh,
lying.
Wow.
Look at him calling out.
I'll just say I'm just lying- Oh,
there's one more thing, are you lying?
Yeah, I hate you.
No, I'm just saying those are three options.
I personally believe that it's pink-loaned,
which is why I wanted to put it in the podcast chat.
So if you clone the plate, don't- So,
or what about the option of you don't want
people to know that your car's working and it
does and you've just been driving around?
It doesn't work.
I haven't driven it since- That's what you'd say.
Oh, you saw a drink.
Oh, I drove off the trailer.
Anyway, have I ever told you a story about my
plate, it ain't cloned?
Yeah, we talked, I think we talked about it
on the podcast.
Perfect, then I went to it again.
Feel free to do a quick recap.
I don't think we did.
Your plate got cloned, brother.
Yeah, I asked for everything.
I got a, I got a, this was a couple of years
ago, I got a letter from Lancashire Police
saying, Hey, you were going 95 and a 70 and I
thought, I wasn't.
Yeah, that is not you.
Also, I wasn't in Lancashire.
And they basically, I appealed it and they
said, no, that was you.
And it was an A-sit, I had an A3 at the time.
An A-6 would have put my plate,
the end, the end five lines,
they put on the car.
Now, what's interesting is I've heard of this
before with a clone in your car,
they'll get the similar car and they will put
the plate on it.
That wasn't even the same model.
Like in short, but what I'm saying is if they
did something illegal, the police would get
behind it, look at it and go,
well, that's an A3.
But I think it only comes up saying silver Audi.
And it was a silver A-6.
Yeah, and I went to my side,
hey, hey, not me, pal.
Number two, I was actually a caffeine machine
at the time in my one eight two.
And I said, here's a photo of my car on this
day at the, well, it was a few hours earlier.
Time to drive home, quickly get in the A3 and
then get up to Lancashire.
Do 95, get back to it.
Yeah, I said I was like, that wasn't me.
Here's proof of where I was at the time as well.
Here's my couple of hours.
And they were like, that's not good enough.
And then I said to them, right,
that's not an A3.
I sent an email basically pointing out the
design differences between A6 and A3.
And they called me and tried to argue.
But do you say notice the front headlight?
No, there's a rear shot.
I said, you can see here by the plate,
there's these two diagonal lines that come out.
And that's clearly different to the A3.
Here's a reference photo.
I said, also, furthermore, my plate has got,
I had a EU plate on it that came with the car.
Yeah, diplomatic.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah, my patient plates.
X1.
At the bottom it said, you know they have
like a leadership at the bottom.
Had that, I said, T, the plate on the car
doesn't have that.
And they got bored of listening to me,
so they just let me have it off.
They literally, it was like,
you're talking to us, we went on for God's sake.
Right fine fine fine.
Oh my God.
Literally, yeah.
Chewing our ear off.
But they were trying to get me done for like,
they said, obviously it was like 25 mile an
hour over the speed limit.
When it's you can't have a speed limit.
What's your car?
What's your car for sale?
It was for sale.
Yeah, that's how it happens.
That is why, if you've ever wondered why
people tend to blur their plates or cover
them when they're selling the car,
that's why.
Yeah.
And then it's my dad's C63 as well.
Because it's usually that you might not be driving it.
Right?
Because it's probably parked up while you're selling it.
That's what I think they assumed by it was driving it.
I'll just use like, press car plates.
Just Google like, car you need.
And then just use that.
Criminal listing this.
It's much easier as well because then it will
go to a business.
Yeah, they'll just assume.
It's less likely to get picked up.
It probably goes, you get away with it probably.
Or just don't run a plate.
Well, if you're a criminal, just don't run a plate.
Maybe that's more, you need to blend in.
But it never folds away.
It needs to be something that when it comes
back, it comes back as tax-insured,
MOT, what's that?
But why not find like an A6 for sale?
That's what I thought was me.
But yeah, they were like, oh yeah,
they said all the images and how to call it
or something to tell the design differences.
Also, if the images and how it was,
of course, then that's not my car.
Yeah, but then you can't tell anything.
We can't tell from the image whether it is an
A3 and A6.
I was like, no, that's not a basis to giving
me six points on my license.
I've never had points before.
I'm not doing that.
I was like, you got a short job to work out.
So they argued even after you pointed out the design.
They basically said to me, nothing we can do,
it's clear and out in it's silver.
So I was like, well, tough, tough shit.
That's not my car.
They went, hey, that's our line.
So I arrested them.
So you got out of that?
I did, but only because I got fed up,
I'm listening to me on the phone.
Oh, please don't do this.
Oh, no.
It's not me, I haven't got an A6.
If you thought it would work,
if you were getting nowhere,
would you cry?
Would you put on waterworks?
No, I was in public when it happened too.
'Cause they called me.
Oh, they said we're the police.
The police called you.
It was a long number, or did it just say 999?
And then you picked up and went,
I should say, do you need fire police?
No, I don't even hear the email a bit a few
weeks, and they just called me,
and they said, right, what's happened here then?
I guess 'cause they would have,
oh no, the letter would have come to you.
I don't know what happened, but they gave up,
so, well, they said, okay, fair enough,
basically.
Ben Rogers wins again.
I think it happens to van drivers a lot,
'cause that's what happened to my dad's car
is he got, he was done with a tunnel charge,
is people use it for that, 'cause people who
are traveling to him from there all the time,
they don't wanna get charged for whatever,
just run someone else's plate,
speed, part, do whatever you want,
if it comes to you, that's your crazy,
bastards.
Yeah, anyway, that happened.
Crazy.
What we got next?
It means if I can get a nice liquid yellow
clear, I could do the same to you.
Sorry, that might have been,
was that me?
I don't think so.
I don't know, I mean, if my plate's not
working, I'm gonna doubt it.
But then also, my--
And he doesn't say location there either.
He said there's four.
Reading M4 eastbound.
So it's the right place.
It would be, that's me on the way to work,
but I haven't been driving that car.
So that's why I'm not having,
I'm not saying you're like--
Or, or, what?
One other option.
He was in a coma for six months.
Woke up, next day went, I meant to put that
thing on--
Scramble brain.
Scramble brain.
Yeah.
So you went, I saw that, what's called me yesterday.
And we weren't driving it any of us.
No, you might have been a few months ago.
No, they said none of us were driving it.
Oh, that's a good point.
Yeah, so interesting.
So it's, but it's even older,
it's before even I had it.
Yeah.
So years being in a coma.
Crazy.
It's odd, I mean, hey, it's a slightly worrying one.
Also, why are you taking my plate?
Just take a random plate.
I have a bet that it wasn't your plate.
I think it probably wasn't even your car.
probably a one eight two.
Are we saying that?
Is there a photo?
Do you say the photo?
No, no, I don't believe it.
Yeah.
Hey, I think you need.
You need.
Pictorial.
OK, sure.
Evidence if that's the right term.
Otherwise your claim is null and void.
I'd love to know because claim you've seen
any of us.
I know I know I know the place and no AI.
Well, why would you?
But why would you like a car?
It's a somewhat well known car.
Why would you?
Why would you choose that?
I think they didn't.
That's my point.
I think if someone's cloned your plate,
they haven't done any crime.
If you if you can couldn't afford insurance,
he's
insured it or wrote on this plate.
Also met me off man.
If
you want to play everything's got a price.
They just went, I want my plate.
I'm putting F1 on my car.
It's mine now.
I'm
doing that.
Yeah, you can make sure it'll text.
So this
says here, it's on a Veyre on it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Drop me a DM and you're going to climb a plate.
Just Edwin, you put in here bullshit phone
placements on the motor.
way.
I've been noticing something recently.
Now, I always tend to notice things more when
I'm towing because you see people you either
go past people very slowly or they you're
just you're amongst people more and you tend
to be with let's call it the Dregs.
I'm doing 60.
Why are you you don't need to do 60?
I have to do 60.
I have a trailer.
If I'm coming past you, it means you're doing
55 on the motorway.
I always notice.
Why do people I know why?
It's because you don't have a phone map.
They have or they do have
50:00 Phone Mounts Debate
phone mounts, but they sit.
They sit in the weirdest positions.
They are.
I sent a video the other day from when we
were on the way to the Volvo.
Did you see that?
I will.
No, I'm not trying to dox anyone.
So we can't show the video.
But it was a woman in a mini who was perhaps
three millimeters from the steering wheel.
But as high as the seat could go,
her head, she was tiny.
Her head was nearly touching the sunrise.
How is this comfortable?
Also, not safe at all.
You cannot be in control.
No, you're but then at the same time,
I see it with phone phone holders.
We saw on the way to brands,
where there was a man in the van.
I don't know if you were in the car,
but there's a man in the van.
He had, he had his phone on the windscreen,
but with one of those, you know,
suction mount that kind of pops out that was,
I'd say 20, maybe five to 10 centimeters from
his face sideways like this.
So he couldn't see the road.
He was just looking directly at a phone.
He's like when a child watches a TV like in
front of the TV in a movie, it was that.
He was running on and he had to terminate a vision.
Just data in his eyes.
Who's doing this?
Who's getting in the car and going,
this is right.
This is what I should be, this is how I should sit.
This is how I want my phone to be off we own my journey.
I don't trust people who have a suction mount.
It feels, but some cars, it's just,
you can't, there is not.
It's true.
I don't, I don't believe it.
I think, I think there is always a way.
The S2000, you had to install a thing.
I would rather not know where I'm going.
or running like the navel.
There's always a way.
There are solutions out there.
There will be a solution out there for that.
What do you think about air vent mounts?
I'm actually fine with that.
What do you have?
I have an air vent mount in the alpha.
I think air vent mount is
fine.
I just, you know, I think that's fine.
It's, it can be annoying because if you have,
some vents don't work.
Yeah.
My girlfriend used to have a Mark II KA and
they have this bullshit vents that are like a ball.
Anything you hang on them, it just sags down.
It falls, yeah.
So that, you know what?
But still, I still think there's a solution here.
You can do something else.
But the only issue is the only thing with a
different car.
The thing with the vents though is that
you're blocking valuable vent space.
Yeah, but you've got loads of others.
I give it to the passenger vent.
Yeah, of course.
You're having drivers that have another vent.
Look, I don't care if you're,
if you're Gandhi, he's, he's taking the
passenger vent first.
You, you, you, you go for your,
you protect your own vent first.
You're taking away your own vent.
It's all well as well.
Yeah, they've got their vent on the left.
They can make a deal with that one.
No, I'm a vent guy myself.
Okay, I'd like to not be.
When I see a suction cup, I'm gonna say something not.
It upsets me.
I dislike the, stuck on the,
the magnetic, stuck on ones.
I agree.
That's what, 'cause you had it in the,
in the X5 and in, in my clear.
Oh, the X5 had it stuck to the head unit.
It upsets me.
I don't know why.
In, in the clear that is commonly seen on the M4 driver.
Yeah, of course.
Without any of us, isn't it?
I have that.
But you can't take it off.
Yeah, that's funny.
A bull, I can't use it either.
So it just sits there staring at me.
Like some stupid magnetic idiot.
But that's what I, I don't, I get it.
I can't get it off.
No, they're stuck, they're like,
they leave residue if you try and pull them
out as well.
It would pull my trim off, I tried to pull it off.
Yeah, in the most part, we did have it.
There was used to be one on the,
on the dash, a Velcro one.
It was a dot, the Velcro thing.
Do not.
I, I, I kind of like the idea of Velcro's funny.
The Velcro piece on the dash and then the
back of my phone case to have the other side
of the Velcro.
The XC70.
Yeah, exactly.
I just want to stick my phone on and then
when I get out the car it goes,
and comes off.
I like the ones where people have them,
that it's like a big bendy arm that sits in
the center of the console and it bends up and
you have a phone just next to it.
Those are crazy.
That feels American.
Yeah.
If you have one of those, that's American.
I saw a guy with it in the ventilator,
but it looked quite cool.
Sorry?
Yeah.
Why, also, why are they always stupid colors?
Why are they bright green or high like to pink?
Which one's the one about?
There's a brand called a Brodit.
Brodit are the ones that they use like
factory, shut lines and creases and stuff and
they clip in.
See, those are like, I don't know.
It means that they can mount.
It's like, they don't look factory.
It's hard to make that look factory.
But it almost looks like an early 2000s phone
mount from a car where it's like,
it's at a mangle.
It's like what you put in your S2000.
Almost, but it's almost
down low on like the center console,
but it's like, it's almost like a like a bone mount.
You know what I mean, guys?
And if you don't, then that's okay.
But as soon as I see a suction mount,
I lose, I shouldn't, but I just,
I lose something.
I think I don't want to talk to this person.
Do you want CarPlay though?
But do you know what?
I believe CarPlay is, well, modern head
units, let's not just say CarPlay are one of
the best inventions for interiors of cars.
It just cleans everything up.
I also love that I can get in a car and this
is a bit posh, but having like,
having to have any, my phone just stays in my pocket.
Yeah.
Being able to just have a screen.
I know it's not, not everyone has a screen in
their car, but it's just nice being able to
get in and go, "Dook, go, don't care for it."
I don't get it.
This is crazy because Ben has a car but could be CarPlay.
I don't care, I don't, it's a point.
I had it in, I put it in my in theory,
I took it out, 'cause I was like,
"This is pointless."
Yeah, but you had a shit one.
No, that one was good.
I hate how bright the screen was weird,
really weird.
So the actual system worked well,
but I didn't see the point.
What do you mean you don't see the point?
My phone sits on a stand, so why don't you
end the screen doing the same thing next to it?
For me, most of the time, it's cosmetics.
Again, I can't stand it.
I would not have, most of the time,
a phone stuck to the dash, 'cause even,
I use a vent, but it looks like shit.
Having a phone on your stuck to your dash,
it looks like shit.
It looks fine.
And then you wanna charge it,
so you've got a cable hanging around as well.
Yeah, that really annoys me.
I've got, I don't know why that's so loudly.
I've got a retractable charging cable,
and I go--
Yeah, I bet you clip it onto your belt with a
carabiner as well.
That is so very thick.
Is it that cleans up?
How long does it charge your phone?
Not a problem.
And it has a separate USB.
And the USB C in there, so I can have to
charge three phones for one.
Oh, but it's not.
That's clutter.
No, it's not a cable as clutter,
but not my cable.
And it's one of those ones where you can--
Is it chunky?
The cable?
The thing, where does it plug into?
Oh, massively your 12 volt.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, see that, I don't--
No, but it angles it at an angle,
so I can, if my rear passenger wants it,
I can have it.
Who cares?
We've already established--
We don't care about passengers.
What, if it's the one where--
There your passenger, charge a phone before
you go on a journey.
You unplug it, and then you pull it out a
little bit, and let go, and it goes all the
way back in.
So I can just go, whoosh, and it flips back
in, and you just hit me in the hand.
Is it fucking chunky?
Is it fat?
It'll plug into your--
I'll send the footer to you,
and we'll put it in the podcast.
That shit upsets me as well,
like fat shit, fat stuff plugged into 12
volts, like mess, cutter like that.
You see people, I'm like, right,
you've got this thing.
Alien Spacecraft plugged into your 12 volt,
and you've got eight wires coming out.
I'm just gonna charge up this,
and then they've got this wire that goes
across the steering wheel, across a bit of
guttering, and it plugs into your suction cup
mount, which has probably not even weighs on it.
It's probably got some sort of AA roadmap on your phone.
And then some coins, how about some coins and
a couple of others?
I've got a clutter on it.
You know what, it's quite easy to see how
uneasy cars make Will feel.
I hate cars.
My alphas are not great.
It was horrible.
Yeah, I've been transporting parts.
No, you haven't.
No, there was an empty coffee in there.
Yeah, that's from the day.
Yeah, that's from the day.
Empty coffee from where there is not an empty
coffee in there.
A little bottle for audio listeners.
Ben just did a scorpion pizza.
Is that me for a minute?
There was something in there.
And there was also your keys were on the seat
as a jumper there.
There was stuff all over the place.
It's temporary though.
For the most part, it will not be like that.
On a normal day, what is in the vicinity of
where you sit?
Nothing.
Nothing.
I'm in the same.
Nothing.
What do I need?
Am I a toddler who needs things to just coat
the metal and that for the wind screw?
No, I don't have that.
I have a steering wheel.
I have a steering wheel.
Yep.
No, no, I just attached the car like a screw.
I know, but this is one of the same stuff I need.
Why do I need jangling bits?
Not there for jangle.
I don't go, "Play out.
I'm so glad my cable is jangling today."
This is the point of the copy.
You can get in the car and everything you
need is there rather than going,
"Right, you want to set?
Let me just dock my jangle."
58:30 Carplay and In-Car Technology Opinions
"My charging station.
Oh, that's plugged in.
Fantastic.
And then I'll just unleash my wire across the
steering wheel."
Yeah, but you just have to charge your phone.
You don't have to, but you don't have to.
If you don't charge it, then you can charge it elsewhere.
What?
You can charge it in an armrest.
A nice discreet charger is also fantastic.
Oh, I hate that.
I hate that.
A wireless charger in a car is stupid impossible.
I was going to say, I love it.
I love it.
Those wireless chargers, the phone goes in
its little home.
Now it's away.
It's gone away.
You're an old man then.
I just want to get in my car and drive in my car.
Hold on.
It's not a fighter jam.
I'm going to get in there and turn all the
different screens.
He doesn't know how it works.
I don't want to get in mess with all this stuff.
Meanwhile, Ben getting in a mess.
I literally put my phone on a stand.
I go and it's on all Bluetooth.
I don't worry about what I need to plug it in.
Not always.
I don't usually plug it in because you charge.
I do that overnight.
That's our point as well.
Oh, yeah.
You get in, the car screen comes on.
You start driving.
You click your destination.
But the thing is, I just don't see a point.
I don't get it.
I like Apple stuff.
This is my handbrake argument.
This is my handbrake argument.
I like Apple stuff, as you know.
My oranges.
Yeah, not a fan.
You're an old man 'cause you're hard to convert.
Even though everything says you should do this.
It's not gonna change me, man.
This is better.
I don't get it.
It's not, I don't get it.
Absolutely not.
This is how I've been doing it for you.
It is.
It's fine for me up until now.
I've got this fancy phone.
I will use it.
Yeah, I'll pay for it.
It's the phone, I'll use the whole phone.
It's taped to the swing screen and I'll scream.
Okay, as is old.
Now, when the car came out, I was like,
"Oh, this is so cool."
It's like an iPad in your car.
It's pointless.
What do you mean it's pointless?
It's just what's on my phone in his car.
Oh, this is not a big enough screen for some questions.
What are you watching?
Now, hold on.
I'm not up and high, man.
In the car, you can't do that,
it's illegal.
No, well, speaking of illegal,
isn't it illegal to touch your phone at all?
But is it not illegal to not touch your internet?
I don't think it, I don't think that's true.
No, it is true.
No, it's not true.
You can't touch your phone.
No, it isn't true.
No, it is true.
It is true.
No, it isn't.
It is true.
No, no,
it isn't.
There is more nuance to it than that.
Oh.
There is, it's not, it isn't a blanket,
you cannot do that.
It's, don't be an idiot, basically.
But if your phone, to use or touch your phone
while driving, it needs to be secured,
in a car, in a cradle or a phone mount or something.
You can't just go, can't have your phone on your knee.
Yeah.
And go, "Oh, I'm just changing my song."
'Cause you're having to look down.
You are on Facebook Marketplace.
I think if you were to apply the same logic
as if you were using a head unit.
Yeah.
Or a car play, you know, what sensible person
would be using, then you're probably fine.
As long as it's not distracting from the road
or you're being a fool.
That may well be wrong, but that is my
understanding of it from what I've seen.
Okay.
'Cause otherwise it would just be stupid.
Ben is doing research behind the camera.
He will probably only tell us what he wants to hear.
Yeah.
Doesn't specify, actually.
There you go.
It does, at the time, it says,
"It's illegal to hold and use the phone."
So yeah, so that would make sense,
if it's in a thing.
You're only controlling it, like,
you need to reroute or, you know,
skip to the next 50s song that you're listening to.
Except Ben is listening to in the passion betting field.
Yeah, they're backing it up.
You can use a device held in your hand if you
need to call an A9, if you're safely parked,
you're making a contact as payment.
It's like, yeah, if you're not in a car,
if you're at home, you can use it on the
toilet, you're allowed.
That is allowed, in bed is allowed to call the police.
Yeah, you can do that.
Using your device hands free,
use devices with hands free access,
as long as you do not hold them at any time during usage.
Hands free access means using,
for example, a Bluetooth headset,
voice command, a dashboard holder or mat,
a windscreen mount, so you can--
So you can--
So hold like, I use the same as a screen.
Are you telling me I can play Angry Birds if
my phone is connected to my windscreen?
Yeah, I do think though.
(laughing)
Like the Tesla screens, right?
You need to put some buttons in the car.
That's like using a tablet, you're constantly
like trying to, and everything right that
annoys me about this, but you have a big
screen, and you can use touch and feel to do things.
You can carry on looking forward,
but you can change your climate control,
and you can get your hand down there.
But on a Tesla, you have to do like the
interstellar scene where it goes darking,
and you've got to try and like,
try and get your fingers out of that place,
and you hit it, and you turn on like,
the radio, and then you try to hit your
heated seat, and then just put a button.
I agree.
I can reach down and just do that while I'm driving.
So what--
How do we argue about it?
Yeah, how does this affect you using your
phone versus a screen?
I don't know.
So I don't really like CarPlay.
I don't really like it.
It's just odd to me.
I just don't think you've had a good experience.
No, also you're a young person.
That's supposed to be your thing.
Now, if I bought a car brand new and it came
with CarPlay, I wouldn't be upset.
What?
That makes no sense.
Like I would always rather have it than not
have it if it has an option,
it's free.
So what does--
But I would never actively go out my way.
Dad doesn't make any sense.
If I got a brand new car, I'd be like,
cool, it's got CarPlay and I probably would use it.
But I would never go out my way to put it in a car.
Like my golf, I can put it in,
I just don't want to, I don't care.
It has just odd.
But if the car happens--
There are an interesting, you're a subject.
Why?
You have to be studied.
One day, as I said this before,
I'd like to just have a look in there and see
what's missing.
I will try--
What do you have that we don't?
I think we're just making an insane podcast,
aren't we?
That's probably the issue.
Should we do a news segment?
There's a couple of recent news,
it's kind of old.
You definitely heard it
here third.
But there might be some things you find out.
There might not be.
There might not be.
That's the wonder of the news here.
There have been some interesting things
happening recently, one of which was Porsche
coming out with a, well, I discovered not a
918 replacement.
No, supercars.
I thought it was gonna be a 918 replacement,
it's not, it's just meant to sit above the--
It's not a halo car, it's just a--
It's a NES.
So it is, I'm not a Porsche man at all,
but I saw this and I thought,
you know what?
It does look cool.
They're on that shit.
It's got rough vibes, it looks cool.
Now I saw, I wasn't that, you know,
I saw it, I was like, oh, that's kind of cool.
I saw a video serve to me about like,
it's features about things.
You've seen the speedo dial thing?
No.
Oh, so it has a triple, a kind of,
think about the classic Porsche dials,
a main center one, and then two kind of,
they fall back behind each other as they go.
But when you put it in a certain mode,
the ones on the side go and disappear in
behind the center one.
So you just have this main, it's kind of like 720S.
Yeah.
We were saying the other day,
I think that's one of the reasons the 720S is
so cool to me, is that it had that flip screen thing.
The memorable, yeah.
That is just a ridiculously cool option to
have in a car that when you go into a certain
mode, feels like taxi, the movie taxi.
You flick a switch and things start happening.
Filling a mixture of your fighter pilot or
James Bond, it's a gadget.
A gadget's probably pointless.
But gadgets are cool, but yeah,
that novelty won't work.
Things that move separately to another switch
you press is always cool.
It's like the bat wings on the mouse mode,
though, it's like, because it's on a switch,
it's definitely cool.
That's cool.
I used to think about it with 996s,
you could raise the wing manually,
I'll switch down by your first school.
It's stupid, I think that's cool.
I'll go to be pressing it, I will.
So they haven't released a huge amount of
info, the engine is the main thing that
everyone's been going, what is it?
I have seen a revving clip of it,
I'm convinced, unless it's a show thing and
they're not final, I don't know,
that it sounded like a flat six.
Flat eight.
Boy, that's not confirmed, no,
and it didn't sound like a flat eight to me.
It sounded eight to me.
You are famously not that good at getting
engines, though.
I'm alright, you did the other day,
guess of V12 as a five-cylinder,
No, I didn't, you did that, remember we were
sitting over here, and I was playing Ferrari
clips, and you went, is that an inline five?
It's not even, there's not even like a relation.
Oh, maybe.
But anyway, the only thing that would lead me
to believe that it could be a flat eight.
Because again, the only flat eight we've
heard is that, is that rough one,
is that, and again, there is a connection
there, and it's in a similar looking sort of
car, and maybe they're doing something with
them, is that they have made a bit of a song
and dance about the fact that the engine is
gonna be quite cool.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I have no idea what it's gonna be.
I also think, quite a smart move to go,
right, this is separate
from the 911, separate from the Cayman,
and then go, it also has its own engine.
I think that's always, whenever Porsche
deviates from their recipe, it's cool,
like nine to eight, even if you look back.
That's a cool Porsche, because it's different
from, maybe made the same car again.
Yeah.
It's cool.
I did, I have listened to an interview on
1:07:00 Porsche New Model Speculations
I don't know who it was, if anyone knows who
this is, feel free to comment it.
Talking to someone involved in the project,
more fantastic news for you,
but basically said it will be available in
pure internal combustion engine and high-pitched.
Oh, cool.
I know.
Interesting.
So that's quite, the only thing I don't know
is about the gearbox.
Do you do the photos?
That shifter looks like a manual shifter.
Yeah, but it had pedals.
It had pedals.
Yeah, it had pedals.
So I wonder if that's also them being like,
is it like a Ferrari or anything?
It was PDK, they said that there's the
potential for a manual.
That's cool.
See, that's, I'd be interested to see what happens.
Well, it's one of the most exciting new cars
to come out.
I really like the design of it as well.
I think it's very pretty.
You know, it makes me feel like it's gives me
iRobot vibes.
It gives me future concepts.
It looks to me how they imagined 2020's cars about 2010.
That's what I mean.
Like it has that weird kind of,
I was a bit confused about it's not a 918,
but it's above 911.
It's like a super car.
It's a bit like an event door.
Yeah, it's not a hyper car.
No, and it's going to be like a permanent feature.
They're going to have a model that is above 911.
They might be like blower.
There'll be a range.
Yeah, I think because the way I read it was
that it's not going to be a halo car.
This isn't like we're going to make 100 of
these and it's the special thing.
It's just going to be a car you can buy.
Like the Dane.
It's a mission S.
It's what we got missions.
No, but they did the missions.
They had the mission X too, right?
Yeah, that's always their concept car.
So it won't be called that.
It won't be called a nine.
Let's bring the crystal ball back.
What are we saying the name of it is?
Do you know what?
I'm not gonna say it doesn't start with a nine.
I think it's going to be a 1000.
I think we're into four digits.
I think it's going to be a Peugeot.
It's going to be a 1000 and seven.
I don't think it's going to be an 818.
Ooh, I like that.
That's quite cool.
818, a bit.
Because it's going to have eight in it,
isn't it?
Because if it has a flat eight,
it's going to have an eight in it.
It could be 818.
I think it'll be called the Porsche 2020.
What?
Because that's the year it is.
That's the decade they're going for.
This is the new era.
Interesting, interesting.
The one that we're like seven years into,
almost.
No, I'm saying like...
We're looking into the future.
Or we've got a 202L.
A 206.
No, I think it'll be called something else.
Okay.
It'll be called the S.
Don't let me put you off.
Porsche S.
I don't know.
I'm not the designer.
It's a projection.
And they're gonna come out with this 40
version and call it the SS.
Oh God.
Oh God.
Oh, we can't put that in the park.
Also, that's not even what I was going for.
I was just saying it would be the SS.
It would sound a bit funky.
It would sound weird.
Yeah.
Or the ST.
They've already done that one.
They've already done ST.
ST.
So that would be like the top guy.
Is there gonna be like a 4S?
Or let's just...
I'm changing again.
If they go with the S, then it's the S4S.
The SS, the S Turbo S.
I think it'll be, I think it'll be a name
like Cayman or Boxster.
Going out one.
James.
What's Cayman named after?
Iron Island.
Is it Alfie Islands or is it after?
I don't know.
Boxster is...
Boxster was a Boxster Roadster.
Okay.
Was what was it called?
Fine.
So it's a super car.
Okay.
Manual super car.
Coupé.
It's gonna be a superman.
A superman.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're fired.
Of course.
Thank God.
For what Ben and that meeting.
We call it the superman.
Please.
Please leave the building.
You can go to the Headlight Designing Department.
Cooler three weeks.
Okay.
I'm thinking it's a number.
Yeah.
I think something eight is probably a good idea.
Eight, well, it's quite cool.
That's what they named, really.
The Cayenne McCann.
Carrera GT.
I don't think it's not 911.
Carrera GT.
I wonder if they go...
Or they do the Carrera S.
Carrera.
We've called it the Carrera 4S.
Okay.
Super Carrera.
Super Carrera.
Quiet, actually.
Right, crystal ball, we'll put that back away.
We're gonna get that out.
Do you know what, something else we can talk
about with the crystal ball?
We talked about Tesla.
And we said it's not gonna fly.
We're gonna have to eat a little bit of hat.
It's flying.
I don't think we eat the full hat,
I think.
Define flying, though.
A starter hat, I think we need to eat.
So, Tesla have a release now,
a little while ago, their Roadster,
the vision of what it is, the release.
Roadster.
Yes.
Which is a coupe.
But it's, so there are three versions.
There's not a coupe.
What?
It's teatops.
Are they?
I didn't know that.
Still not.
So, there are three versions.
Was it the rocket or the--
I have this because this is being annoying me.
'Cause there's a non-road legal version.
So, I can imagine how some of the features
we're saying that's the one.
So, for those that know, they released this
car and they said, 10 years ago,
almost now, they released the Roadster and
they said, this is the concept.
And it looked actually, I think,
quite cool.
And it had all these big stats and all sort of thing.
1:12:00 Tesla Roadster Flying Capabilities Discussion
never happened and people put deposits down
and suddenly they've gone, we've got the new
Roadster and it's got a SpaceX package,
which means it flies.
They have some different models here.
So, we've got the performance one.
This is the one you can just reserve and buy.
Yep, that's just normal.
That's gonna have road ready with seating for
two, includes active aero and a multi-mode
suction system.
So, it has a bit like, (laughing)
Fantastic.
So, it's like a T-50 where it has to suck to the floor.
It has, it has an active fan that sucks the
floor and it can, it can create like other
dicks matter down force.
That's it.
It's just a car.
An Alt-60 is gonna be in the one-
They explain, I think it was at 1.4 or something.
Isn't that with the cold?
No, no, that's the one without.
Then you have the augments, they're calling it.
You have the thrust, which is race ready with
seating for two, includes performance active
aero like the first one with a multi-mode
suction system plus acceleration thruster.
So, it has big-
So, those are just at the back.
Cold jet thrusters that will,
apparently, get you 0.60 in 0.7 of a second.
Yeah, which is, yeah.
Brains everywhere.
Then you have, and that's limited edition.
Yeah.
Then you have Rocket, which is invite only.
Yes.
And that's air ready with seating for one
includes performance and thrust plus a full
flight system.
Now, it does say, on the website,
a few disclaimers, number one,
only left-hand drive.
Yeah.
So, we might get out.
Oh, wow.
And there's only one seat in there because
the--
Only one seat.
And it's not road legal.
The air tanks take up that, that's all the
space that they need for it.
And it's not road legal.
Not road legal.
But in theory, they are selling,
they are selling a product that can do what
they showed in that video of it doing a
kickflip over a car.
Yeah.
Someone's dying.
Yeah, yeah.
Someone's done.
But where's you go?
I don't know, you know when you buy like,
Ferrari have the XX program when it was just
race cars where you go, but you know where
you can use it.
It's difficult because you go,
"Oh, I've got to rent a track and got to do this."
But it's a track car.
It's like, "Where do I take this?"
But from what?
Just to the park.
From what I'm seeing, it's a lot of people
that have been invited are influencers and media people.
So I'm wondering, yeah, it's like us.
That's awesome.
Elon, mate, give us a shout.
I think they're doing it as like a,
we'll get free publicity of this.
They're going to go and take it to a runway,
do a jump for a video and go,
"Whoa, this half a million dollars worth it?"
I will say that, whatever you think of it,
I know it's going to be a lecture,
I assume it's a lecture.
Yes.
I thought it was quite cool.
Look, I said in the last episode,
I dislike all of these stupid fanfare games
and all these like, "Look, what we could do?"
It's cool.
I watched that.
To look at as a thing, it's a cool thing to do.
Who else is doing that?
Like that is, however pointless it might be.
But so most cars are pointless.
Yeah.
The cars we talk about every day are
pointless to an extent, really.
We don't need them, but that is a,
it's an, it makes an inch, what is otherwise
going to be just an another electric super
car, hyper car, kind of interesting.
Yeah.
And the other thing is, we always say it,
cars and like the cars we own,
they are, as a child, I see that and go,
"Ah, that's cool."
Like the Mercilago, a Ferrari 550,
a Zonda, that was the coolest thing to see as a child.
If I was a child, my sort, I'd be like,
"That's a flying car."
That's the most incredible thing I've ever seen.
That's the best thing in the world.
He does succeed at doing that at making.
I saw the video, I could not believe it.
That cannot be real.
It was the first thing I saw in the morning.
I woke up and I had an Instagram
notification, I clicked on it,
I looked at it, I went, "What?
What's going on there?"
Actually, I've seen so many memes.
Yeah.
Usually related to drink driving,
for some reason.
She would go, "Ah, me after 10 beers trying
to land my Tesla Roadster."
It's just the interstellar city.
Okay, fine.
But I don't know, again, it is pointless and
I would still prefer an old super car or
something, but I watched it and I thought--
Interesting.
No matter what you think of Tesla and Elon
Musk or whatever, I watched that and thought
that is some spectacle to go out there and
make a car drive upside down,
but with a vertical upside down and then do
what it did.
But then nuts.
Also have the balls to then go,
"Right, you can have it."
Yeah.
Who wants it?
If it was a SpaceX demo, and this is for us,
I'd go, all right.
But the fact they went, "Right,
who wants one?"
It's the kind of thing that people might
laugh at it now, but then if that car does
sell well, you'd look back at that and go,
"That is what sold."
That's what sold that car.
The only thing I would say is that it was,
what, eight years ago?
Yo, yes.
The Tesla rose there, so that was a
completely different looking car entirely.
People paid 50 grand.
Different numbers, different figures,
no mention of any of this stuff.
It's now changed eight years,
I think it is eight years later.
Nine years.
And they're not delivering they're not saying
that's gonna be ready for another.
20, 28.
Yeah, so I'm like that, but.
And then which is that gonna go on for
another eight years?
Yeah, and I bet you 20, 28 is not.
Yeah.
For anything, it's the end of 28.
I don't believe it.
You still think it's not, I got a few thoughts here.
Okay.
Been thinking about this.
But number one, it wasn't, it wasn't a car.
It was a remote control vehicle with not a
person in it.
Of course.
And it was pre-configured.
Number two, the cold thruster system takes
two to six hours to refill.
Yes.
And you can do one thing in it.
So it's like a one trick thing.
And then you just have a car.
I don't think you brought it in constantly though.
But the point is it's like, oh,
it can fly, it can't fly.
It can land, but it can't fly.
You can't fly in the thing.
And my main point here is that I actually
think it's all a ruse.
I think they went shit.
We over-promised, under-delivered with this concept.
Let's redesign it so that we can say it's a new car.
And the design is frankly the front of it,
a shit.
And then what they did was they went,
if you look at the specs of it,
it's actually much worse than the one they promised.
They said 600 miles of range,
it's 300 miles of range.
They said it's going to have all these mental
motives and stuff.
It's got one less amount and they said it
would have in it.
And the top speed was meant to be 250 plus,
it's 230,
they're saying.
So it's actually a lot of the specs,
they
actually matter, they aren't anywhere near
what they said.
So I think it was a whole thing of like,
let's get some high-prunness.
And then people will forgive us for being-
When I look at the design of the front,
I see Cyberpunk Mercy Largo.
It's almost like that, a Senza V12,
the one that rodeco on.
Why have I forgot my name?
different people in the world,
the Lanzante did, where it has the kind of
triangular, it has like a weird Mercy Largo
vibe to it.
I don't know why the way it looks.
I thought the original thing they had,
it looked like any old Tesla.
And again, it's almost, it's almost,
Cybertruck made into a kind of super cafe.
I thought the rear was really cool.
The rear is cool.
With that full length rear.
That's the only thing.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the fact that it
just looks like a low Cybertruck.
If you chopped the bottom of the Cybertruck
and dropped it down, that's kind of what it
looks a bit like.
I hate the front, really hate it with the passion.
The rear, I think, looks cool,
but then it has, 'cause it has the cold gas thrusters.
They look like exhausts, that's an electric car.
So it just, you have those constantly and it just.
But that's, but they do a job.
But they don't, because you can't use it and
you can't use that in public.
But they do, they do a job, they're there for a job.
Yeah, but that's like saying a 600 LT has no
point in having them upwards.
What I'm saying is the not 60 thing they're
saying, yeah, the cold thrusters that just
push it forward, you do not 60.7 seconds.
You've seen the clip of it go in four,
not 60.
You can't do that on public.
You just want a heart attack.
But it's the same thing as saying on a NF40,
the center exhaust of the three is for the wastegate.
You can't be going and shooting flames out in public.
No, what you do.
What I'm saying is that the car that you'll
see on the road is like, if they're saying we
can put the gas thruster on the road,
but you can't use the gas thruster,
then it's just a electric car with these
holes in the battle, like it's awesome to me,
that sounds silly.
I think people, it's a bit like how,
it's less of an effect now with racing,
but where people would buy the car that looks
like the car that's racing at the weekend.
It can't do any of those things
realistically, or at least a big percentage
of it, but you want it because it's similar
to that thing.
So yeah, I think it's similar to that.
I see what you're saying.
I just don't like it.
You can't use or buy the thing.
I just think the actual stunt itself.
Hey, I watched, I thought--
It was unbelievable.
That's mental.
I thought, and they said, we had to do it in
front of a live audience 'cause you'd all
think it was AI, which I think is cool,
I did it, and I think it's cool that they
actually, they didn't just say,
here's a pre-recorded video of it.
Yeah, they went, here's it live,
it might mess up.
But also why they can't put a person in it,
because if they go, here's an audience who's
just watched a person die upside down,
they wouldn't do so well for Tesla.
Yeah, but yeah.
It's a massive explosion.
I just don't, I think it's, yeah,
it's cool things demonstrate,
but I just don't think you ever make it onto real cars.
Join us in 2028 when we talk about the new
reveal of the Tesla road--
The redesigned one.
Also, that's the other thing,
sorry, I found that I'll say,
the 2017 one, I thought I thought they were really cool.
I mean, it's electric design,
but it looked quite smooth and a bit
aggressive, whereas this one just looks,
it looks great.
Yeah, I remember it looking a bit like clarinish.
It's quite a nice design, but--
I think that's some nice, we've done it in
the wrong order.
We've
put news at the end, but we're back in our groove.
I think this is a nice place to end.
We will see you next week,
maybe back in our original, in our normal unit.
See you
next week.
Goodbye.
Dollar bills, y'all.
See you
later.
I forgot to speak, sorry.
